Hi i tried your trick after i removed the premium sound system from my BA Fairmont Ghia to replace the colour screen . After hooking the system I had a code error so i pressed volume and seek together for a few seconds , the system beeped and everything returned ti normal . It was a incredible hack . Thanks for this invaluable information .

Absolute champion mate 💪 was told by ford to bring it into the dealership and they'll have to pull the stereo out to recode it, so happy I decided to google it first, just didn't make sense what they said needs to be done plus I have no time, I was going to buy a whole new stereo, these guys are an absolute scam, you saved me time and money brother 💪 absolute legend 🤘🤘

Well Done mate and thank you for sharing this hack 👍. I can't believe it was that easy. A lot of Ford Dealers across Australia have probably been ripping off they're customers for many years on this fix. Another grab for your cash solution from shady car dealers. As you know I too have a BF Falcon with just the regular sound system which in theory your hack should still work if I ever get locked out like you did as they both probably run the same software.

You are a legend! Just changed the steering wheel in our BF, disconnected battery to do so, and sure enough radio displayed 'code' after. Tried this trick of yours, and boom! Back to full function. Even the radio channel presets were still there. Thank you Steve Mack!

Steve Mack all done. I do have a problem that I can't fix. I have a 2008 ford falcon bf mkII c/cab and my low beam doesn't work, only high beam works. Already tried replacing both H4 globes and checked relays as well as fuses. Your help with this would be much appreciated.
My initial thoughts, are either a bad Earth (THE most common cause of faults!) OR, a bad solder joint IN the headlight switch itself.

Thanks for that. Using that principle I unlocked Ford Territory SZ using power button plus volume down. Of course the SZ was supposed to be smart enough to recognise the car and not need this????

Thanks so much mate. I have a bf falcon waggon that the stereo just stopped working. & Came up with the word (code) on the display. I didn't even remove the battery. So I don't know why it even happened in the first place. I found your vid & thought what the heck. Why not try it even though it is not the premium unit. I turned the key to accessories & held down the seek & stereo on button simultaneously & within a few seconds it was working perfectly again. Thanks very much again. I am someone who regularly codes ICC's for BA/BF/FG for people who have upgraded to premium, or just replaced a faulty unit. I charge a lot less than FORD will. Heres some tips:
You can hold down AM And menu, it will unlock for 5 minutes to test it. BA onwards do not have codes at all. It is computerized and you need an OBDII scanner that can write modules to do so. If Ford tell you its a big job, they are lying. It literally takes me 2 minutes once my OBDII Scanner has recognized the VIN.
Now, from experience... If you are upgrading, from a Stock BA XT/XR ICC, to a premium ICC it needs coding... If you upgrade BEMS (Panel at bottom of ICC, 4 screws and a clip), you will need to code it. XT's have a yellow BEM. XR's onwards have blue as they have better features. I believe there may be a green or other colour but can not remember right now.
Also, if you swap your single stacker to a 6 stacker CD system, you will need to code it. Saying that, if you reuse your stacker and bem and screw it to the new facia. You dont need to code it. Anyone who want a dual zone unit in a single zone car, it can be done. I have one in my XR8 right now. The only difference is it will operate normally, but the buttons for the rear passengers wont do much. Front climate controls operate front and rear of car like any single zone car.

Interesting! - You confirm what I thought, and proves only 1 out of 3 ford dealers told the truth about no codes, but that one also said 'can't be fixed'!! Bloody bunch of rip-offs!!
@@SteveMack Yeah mate exactly, thats why i started doing it myself because theyre rip offs. I only charge $20 if its within 15 minutes of my house. Any further than that and ill discuss price, certainly cheaper than ford and it will get done quicker.

Why thank you!! - It's called 'manipulate the battery until it reaches'!! 😁🤣👍❤️ (or simply spin the battery around 180 degrees)

Yes push the seek and volume on high series or low series push menu and FM
There is also a 3rd way in however ive forgotten that . That hack allows can bus to communicate between BEM and ICC
That's right - as I said at 03:30 I rang three Ford dealers for an answer (prior to that not being certain that no codes applied for the BA's, although I strongly suspected it!) and all three dealers told me lies!

Yes, still have it - My favourite car, probably out of ALL the wide varieties I've had; for it's basic comfort and driveability...NOT so much it's build quality vs my old EA though! Not that I know of, only that according to the follow-up video I made, the car SHOULD start and stereo work fine, even without keeping power to the system when changing batteries;th-cam.com/video/OIRxbbiyCtk/w-d-xo.html

Touch screen? Unless it's vastly different to my BA Fairmont Ghia; the centre screen is a DISPLAY ONLY screen, not touch activated.
@@SteveMack Hello again 😀 it definitely is a touch screen, finally it has opened its eyes again BUT it won't even set the clock, Bluetooth seems to want to stay on and it won't go off . Then to top it off today the Screen won't turn off 🤔😡 🙄😭

Well, you'll have to track it down. Security systems, even remote central locking constantly draws power, as the reciever awaiting the signal to unlock doors is constantly on...

Yep, my hack certainly seems to work when people have problems...you might be interested to also check out my recent update (linked above) of how normally should they should work without having to do the hack. I made that new video because even though most people agree the hack worked, there were 2 or 3 obstinate people who called me a liar (one has since apologised but the other one I finally blocked because it was like talking to a lump of concrete lol) Anyway, glad I was able to assist, cheers!

The latest windows update prevented my clients tax returns from printing properly. With varying work around solutions suggested by my software provider, I just started clicking and un-clicking settings and buttons until it worked.

@@xLootGoblin You can reprogram the new radio to your vehicle using Forscan, the BA and BF ICC Units do not have a radio code you enter, they have a code that is linked to the BEM/PCM and when you swap a different radio in it shows 'CODE' or 'SECURITY CODE ERROR' on the screen, simply plug into your car, start Forscan and get an Extended License for Forscan, then in the service procedures, run the ACM (Audio Control Module) matching function and in several seconds the new radio should kick into life.
Otherwise, you can hold down the AM and Menu Buttons and the radio will unlock for about 5 minutes of use.

I would have my doubts personally...Most competant mechanics pay quite a bit each year, to access most manufacturers software, but in any case - Price sounds fair as I said, especially if they uphold the no pay if it doesn't work pledge.👌👍🔧

Hi love your videos but wondering could you help me . Installed a new stereo into my 2004 Ford territory the same stereo as on your video But when I went to start car it security code error & wouldn’t start was just wondering if you had any tips that might help fix this problem. Thanks
Thanks Kylie!🙂 As far as I know, the Territory shares a lot with the Falcon range; many comments below confirm that my hack has worked for the Territory's as well...did you try it? The system may have to be coded...I'll ask one of my autoelectrician mates and get back to you on it👍
OK, I have an answer back - The BCM under the unit needs to be the original BCM from the car. If its territory it would be yellow or red. So, you need to use your ORIGINAL BCM with your new unit...(It's the square plastic box under the ICC unit held by 4 screws). You will need the coding for the radio to work, (although try my hack if you don't have the code); BUT - your car will start still once you put with original BCM with new ICC. @@SteveMack thanks for advice I try the button hack didn't work but I'm going to take the yellow box off old stereo & put on new one & hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks again for your help cause in the video that I watched on taking stereo out didn't say you needed to keep original bcm box.

No, not really, unless you try holding battery terminals together for 10+ seconds to clear codes, then reconnecting, as it SHOULD start, as in my follow-up video;th-cam.com/video/OIRxbbiyCtk/w-d-xo.html

Hey mate, didn’t work for mine, suspecting it could be ignition barrel issues so I’ve heard, the word “code” only ever pops up about once every month then decides to hibernate for a few weeks then will work for half a day

BA Fairmont Giah, six stacker. With factory amplifier. Not a bad sounding unit., since taking the battery in and out a few times for another car the CD player won’t play. Says something about a code when you plug the battery back in. Now has gobbled up my six favourite cds 💿. Including a SLAYER CD. Any help from anyone would be great. Tried this to no avail. Cheers 👌🏻
Yeah; they sound pretty good for a factory unit. Mine did the same & stayed that way, for YEARS! It's the switch or something electronic. Then one day I randomly pressed the eject button AND IT WORKED! So I quickly recovered my 6 long gone CDs! I don't know of any fix, other than a replacement unit, as no one seems to actually FIX anything these days, unless you can find an electronics enthusiast...I'll be standing by also for anyone's input.

My BA xr8 has no security code, I took my radio fully out and when I put it back in it had a security code error , after 30 seconds of weird radio mechanical noises it unlocked itself
Yes, After being lied to by 3 Ford dealers, I discovered the BA (& likely other newer series) HAS no code...yet myself & many others, still encountered the sound system would lock us out after losing voltage, and when I experimented & discovered my hack; it's no longer been an issue for many of us, as I demonstrate in my follow up video;th-cam.com/video/OIRxbbiyCtk/w-d-xo.html
i got a ford falcon xr6 ba 2003, everytime i change batteries my radio doesn't lock up and like you i don't have a charge running through while taking off the battery.

I just bought a FG falcon MK2 and I'm about to pull out the battery to change the headlight globes, any idea same trick will work?
Gidday. I've never encountered the NEED to disconnect the battery for simply changing bulbs! (I don't have an FG, so I can't swear it doesn't apply, but would be very surprised if it WAS required - maybe double-check the Ford forums first?) - The globes should be well insulated by their socket, so shorting shouldn't be an issue, BUT: IF needed, and again, this video only specifically relates to my own BA, it would SEEM as far as the radio goes, mine (& others) may have had a fault of some sort AT THE TIME, as codes aren't NORMALLY lost from disconnecting battery. I have an update about this video coming next week, if interested. Meantime, does anyone else reading this question know if battery even needs to be disconnected?
@@SteveMack I have to, I have no choice, the low high and parkers are behind the battery on the drivers side so its gotta come out, I've hit up the ford forums and I'm seeing a lot of people either had there ICC frozen or blacked out after removing battery on the fg, (mk2)
All went to ford and was told they need a new ICC, 900$ or even seem some who paid 2000 plus for some bullshit, that's why I'm determined to find a solution similar to yours prior to me removing mine, I know its all a scam from the dealers, haha.
I mean think about it, what happens when u need a battery replaced from N.R.M.A , road side service, or a panel beater removes the battery for smash repairs, there is no way that ford built these cars to make the ICC's screw up permantly after battery removale,

This will only work if the radio is the one that was in the car when it first worked.. if you replace the radio then it won't work as it needs to be then coded into the cars BEM

I don't think so - these cars didn't come with Bluetooth as standard...you can buy a kit off eBay & retrofit them pretty easily, but from the factory they didn't have Bluetooth back then.

Usually should never get to this stage with disconnecting battery. The dealers are liars asking for serial numbers and saying it might work. They use Ford IDS which I have with a VCM II adaptor and it takes 5 seconds to relink ICC to car! Its in the ASM menu.

I have a 2012 Ford Lincoln that the complete radio system has gone out along with Nav..ac and heated seats. Back up camera and all in the system in the car, Its says Audio Off.

@@SteveMack Yes was worth trying as you said there isn't any information on the internet about unlocking BA/BF radio, Ford says it's supposed to unlock automatically if VIN is correct to that radio. If I hold menu & am together it unlocks for 5 minutes

When i swapped from my b/w ICC to my color screen on my BA XR6T i was getting the "Code" screen, pressing Mode and AM would unlock for 5-10 mins or so, i had to get the new unit reprogrammed for my car which Ford in Warwick Farm charged me $150 to do. The Security code is built into the ICC meaning you should never have to program it unless you swap units like i did, if yours is starting to show the "Code" and its your original unit then either theres some sort of fault inside the system, or you've done something wrong which scrambled the codes stored in the memory.

Does it have the exact SAME 'premium sound' display as my BA Fairmont Ghia in the video has? My hack seems to work for the majority of people, especially also with Territories, but I imagine FG changed the setup. TRY various combinations of button pressing anyway, as you may happen to stumble upon a hack, as I did 😉👍

2002 11 NOVEMBER Ba falcon xt 6cyl sedan WITH BASIC ICC UNIT ,, when says CODED when turn ignition on YOU NEED TO HOLD AM and MENU for 3 seconds and stereo will come to life,, but will need to do it every time you turn ignition on,,,, and radio stations won't hold save, WHILE EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS AS USUAL.. I JUST HAD COMPUTER FIXED IN MINE AND THEN HAD THIS PROBLEM,,, ANY TIPS HOW TO SOLVE THIS WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATED PLEASE AS I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO GO TO FORD.
Did you try my hack? Only had to do it once; stations etc all remain each time I turn the key.
Just tried it again and it doesn't do anything,, when I got the car it was in my shed for 2 years and just hooked up battery and drove around for 2 years - I would disconnect the battery when I work on it and hook back up and still worked perfect - I pulled the whole unit out just to clean behind it and when cleaned I put back in and drove for another year - just had the a replacement remanufacture pcm sent to me and the bcm was also tested - when I put it all back in it was only the stereo code problem I'm now currently having while the car itself runs beautifully - I think mine might actually need coding properly due to the electronic service and replacement pcm. THANKYOU FOR YOUR REPLY.
@@barrystewart8060 You beat me to it...when you mentioned having those replaced; I was going to suggest that it's likely then, that it'll need to be coded. Food for thought though: it isn't necessarily a Ford dealership job - SOME mechanics do have the required programming tools for various makes. The guys I use, (when I'm too lazy or unable to do things at home) have them, they pay a hefty annual access fee, but might be worth you ringing around to get prices on. Sorry this fix doesn't apply mate.

I left My lights on causing a dead battery! That left me with a safe mode on my radio. I'm the internet it said I need my serial number and need special key to remove the radio. I went to eBay and purchased the keys for $3.50 they took 3 weeks to get to my house. Put the keys in the radio and pulled it out, something on the left side was restricting me from pulling it all the way out? Anyway I got the serial number, I found a site who charged me $12.99 for the code. That took about 12 hours to finally get the Code at my email address. I put the Code in the radio and it came on with NO SOUND? Any idea how to fix these Two problems? Seems like nothing is going in my favor? Anyting you or anyone else can suggest would be Brilliant...

Hold up your have no idea what your talking about there is no special keys to take the icc out? It's 4 8mm bolts and a Phillips head. Maybe try find a video for your car or contact your dealer it's really not rocket science to make a stereo work.
