My very first video game...bought for me by my now late father, Wayne Sr.(1958-2020) I was only 6 years old when I started playing it and it was tons of fun!!!! And now, about to be 36 in a month and I'm watching the longplay of this '90s classic. Apparently, I still play Nintendo to this day, the latest being the Switch, and I have 11 games for the console!!! Thirty years of memories and history!!!😁
Donkey Kong Country blew my mind back when it came out, and it still looks amazing even today! It was almost hard to believe the SNES was a 16 bit console sometimes!
This game feels and looks so solid. Every hit has an "oomph" to it, and the sound-effects are mesmerizing, not to mention the legendary soundtrack composed by David Wise himself!
Retro Game Spacko Never played tropical freeze but i'll probably pick up returns on 3ds one day. (I prefer handhelds) Tropical Freeze looks great too. Might pick up a copy of it sometime.
One thing still confuses us, Why did K Rool steal the banana hoard even though it's clear in future games he doesn't like fruit? Maybe he envied Kongo Jungle and only took the hoard so the other kongs will starve because well, if you're starving, it'd be hard to fight back, right?
Looks pretty damn cool! I was never much of a gamer. Always preferred watching to playing. As a music lover, one thing I find a little annoying here is the music in those bonus rounds. There are so many of them. A lot of the music themes have long build ups before getting to the good parts & the bonus rounds keep cutting them when they've only just got there.
This is an issue with every DKC game. I'm surprised how few people voice this complaint. As fun as the bonus rooms are, they also completely break the immersion of the setting and music. It's a lot more annoying when watching the game though than playing it.
@@k-leb4671 Yeah, that makes sense actually. When playing, I suppose you wouldn't be as focused on the music. If it was me playing, I don't think it'd be much of an issue at all. Firstly, I'd probably only find a fraction of the bonus rooms, meaning more level play. Secondly, I expect I'd be playing through pretty slowly, since I was never very good at computer games.
On the gorilla glacier stage, near the end with all the barrels. Did u know if you can go through all the barrels without doing a full 360 on a each barrel and just shot out perfectly there will be a Blue Balloon waiting for you at the exit . Happy hunting
I loved playing that donkey cong video game especially when I was a kid and also home many video games of donkey kong is there all together and also why does donkey kong where a tie and why does dinky kong where a hat and also donkey kong himself is he an ape of is he a gorilla and also is dinky kong a monkey 🐒 🙈 🙊 or is he a spider monkey and is dinky kong donkey kong younger brother

beautiful times (now and then) I showed DKC to my son when he was little and he laughed everytime I went into the banana cave and DK would shake his head.
They should remaster the whole trilogy for Switch. The same way they remastered the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro trilogies... but what to call it? Donkey Kong Country Gone Bananas Trilogy?
Gosh this is one of my favorite game in the snes plus is was so cool that Smash bros Ultimate recreated the kongo Jungle map in world of light adventure mode which gave me nostalgic and also...... Donkey Kong: "Are they digging holes in my mountain?!"
@@GamerKid64 Those Interupts allow programmers to change values after each horizontal line that has been drawn to the screen. You remember this common underwater effect that many games have? This effect is created by changing the scrolling X value a bit after each line that was drawn. This can distort the image in different ways. This effect here is a combination of changes. First the Y Scrolling value is changed in a way so that parts of the image are upside down. And additionally the color palette is changed for some lines so these lines appear darker, this gives this part a 3d look. In the Video RAM the whoöe image was never changed. It all happens during rendering. It's an interessting technique. In the early Sonic games it was used for the water levels. At a certain horizontal line you simply exchange the color palette to underwater. On 8bit systems it was used to draw more sprites on screen than the hardware could handle. You draw sprites once in the upper part of the screen, make an interrupt and reposition all the sprites on the lower half.

Another long lasting franchise by Nintendo. The prerendered graphics were the real big deal back then. They even put the label "3D Graphics" and "Silicon graphics" on the cover xD. The music is also a fine example of the possibilities of the SPC Soundchip. This playthrough includes all hidden bonus rooms and a 101% savegame.

The Kongs
1. Donkey Kong
2. Diddy Kong
3. Candy Kong
4. Cranky Kong
5. Funky Kong
Waking to find his banana hoard clean gone, Donkey Kong sets out with his nephew Diddy Kong through jungle and cavern, past temple and reef, across pine forests, factories, and mountains to rid the island of the wicked Kremlings and reclaim his bananas.
For some reason, as far as 2d platformers are concerned, i always liked Donkey Kong Country better than mario.
"Returns" and "Tropical Freeze" really are awesome.

I like DKC games developed by Rare.
I love how this game became a microgame in WarioWare Gold!
Damn oh man..This one takes me back, This game pissed me off so much in the later stages
The level bosses (except for the final boss) are all fairly simple. It's like they put in the bosses as an afterthought.
My favorite game of all time alongside Super Mario 64. Pure classic, absolute masterpiece!
Truly a incredible 3-D adventure in the kingdom of Kong

One of the first titles to feature pre-rendered graphics, Silicon Graphics said it all.
Anyone else reminded of the Ewok village by Tree Top Town?
would be cool if the game was remade into a movie voiced over by David Attenborrough

2 of the boss fights involve the Kongs pounding on a beaver. I'm thinking that was Rare's way of slyly slipping that right under Nintendo's nose. 😉
