Killer Instinct Fatal-X Rail Issue Part 2

  • I sent the bow to KI after hounding them to do something. Something to consider is shipping costs. If you live in Canada you have to ship the bow back to the US for any repairs which is costly and accounted in this case for a substantial percentage of the cost of the bow.
    Sorry audio is low :(

    Ijust bought this xbow and mine does the same thing and its higher off the rail on the end than yours. Not very impressed with KI and will not reccomend any of their equipment for purchase. It appears it would do no good to contact them about the issue either since they do not totally fix the problem. Basically a hunting season shot to hell because of poor craftsmanship. I also write a few articles and believe me, I WILL let the consumers know all about this company and the poor quality of their equipment. Never ever should a piece of faulty equipment leave the factory with these issues....ever!

      The bow has potential, but I am not impressed with the "warranty" or the issues I am having with the cable serving. In contrast my Excalibur experiences with warranty have been a pleasure. Still though the Excalibur bow has it's own issues.

    I have been shooting that crossbow since before It was released and I absolutely love it. I am six foot four I have the but stock extended all the way out, And it fits me perfectly. However, I do like to have my arms tight to my body. It gives me more stability.,, I keep my scope mounted forward. This way I still have the proper I relieve, I have added string stops to it and it makes it considerably more quiet,, And I also shoot 500 grains, bolt and Broadhead. My bolts for this crossbow is the hypr lite bolt, which I rebuilt by adding insert weight to it, bringing it up to 350 grains. And a 150 grain Broadhead. My Broadhead of choice is the Ozcut hurricane 3 blade? And the oz cut 2 blade elite also 150 grains. Out of my sweat X1I shoot the tooth of the arrow solid 150 grain. With the killer instinct hyper k e bolt three hundred and fifty grains,, Total weight 500 grains. It's just AKE bolt doesn't need any added weight to it. It's 350 grains +/- out the package,, I do extensive testing on both of these crossbows, including, but not limited to 25 to 50 shots per day. I have had to replace the strings on both twice each..
    If you want photos of these, please send me a message and I will respond with a number probably to your Messenger so also attach your Facebook address.

      My current arrow weight with 150gr heads is about 460grs. I tried adding 50gr weights to the back of the inserts to increase the weight which worked for a few arrows, but it seems that the inserts they used were not the same in dimensions other than weight. Some were to shallow in the insert threads and when the weight was added the points/broadheads would not thread in deep enough as they would hit the weight threaded in from the back. I tried removing the inserts, but were taking more heat than I was comfortable with using and decided to leave them in. How did you remove them?

      @kernelsamba I use heat but I use it in increments. I heat it 30 seconds, attempt to pull. Heated another 15 seconds attempt to pull. And after that, 5 second increments. Until it pulls out.,, I do keep a field point screwed in and heat the tip of the field point only until it Heats the insert that melts the glue.

      @@kernelsamba I used one of those small butane torches that you can get for camping from home. Depot or Walmart, you can use a candle. It takes it a little longer, but until you get a little more experience with it. If you're not used to it, the candle is definitely a good route to Go.

    I am extremely disappointed with this crossbow and the rail issue. I sent it back to cabelas, and it will take 8 weeks to get a refund. Rubbish to say the least

    Dude, how does it shoot? Are you getting bad groups? The slight play on the riser is not a problem if you shots are consistent.

    • @kernelsamba
      @kernelsamba  ปีที่แล้ว

      There was more than slight play on the riser unfortunately. It rose up and to the left. I recently revisited the issue and found the string diameter was to narrow causing the issue. It still has a hump and the arrow rises, but it is consistent now. Here is the follow up video th-cam.com/video/76A4K_FkJmE/w-d-xo.html

    Take the headstock off and knock a bolt in. youll see that its perfectly flat until you install the limb assembly and torque the headbolt down. Keep working the areas that the rail fits with a file until it no longer bends it when its tightened. Took me several tries back and forth apart and together but it now out performs my buddys ravin at 40 and 50. Outside of 50 the ravin is a bit tighter still.

    Easy fix, the top rail is free floating. It was not milled short enough. When the head bolt is tightened it outs pressure on the end of the top rail. Bending it almost .020. I filed the end of the rail down. And also filed the relief area where the top of the rail fits. Mine is perfectly flat now when cocked and mine also had the arrow pointing up. It shot fine the way it was bit the group is much tighter now.

    Mine is exactly the same but it's dead accurate plus my serving string came off but it had 2 serving strings on it so I'm still shooting it till the second string comes off

    That what kind of warranty is that supposed to have a lifetime warranty the guy ships the Bolin he gets back of Riser that's been used in all chipped up in my opinion for the money you spent for that crossbow that's not acceptable that's bad business

    • @kernelsamba
      @kernelsamba  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Not to mention you have to have the bow inspected by an approved dealer every 3 years to maintain the warranty. Mine happens to be a hour drive away too.

    I have a Barnett Ghost 360 that does the same thing in the middle of the rail but it shoots fine ! Have killed several nice deer with it so I will keep shooting the crossbow as long as it holds up.

    Your comparing a 300.00 bow to a 1000.00 bow
