I've always enjoyed Lea Salonga's singing since I heard her in Le Mis, the dream team concert. I'm always surprised too how ignorant some of the comments in TH-cam are.
Good lord, no matter how many videos I watch of Lea sing I am always so in awe of her voice and there is just no one who I can think of that I would rather listen to over and over and over again like I can her. Sure there are some that have great voices (like LBB) but they are voices you just listen to a few times or so and that is it but with Lea I can just listen to her over and over again and not want to stop listening to her.

she used her natural voice...not sure what an unnatural voice is. she was singing in her head voice for the higher notes, which was particularly clear, so it sounded reasonably good, considering she was imitating a belted note. that being said, i really like belted notes, and this performance didn't really do much for me, but i understand that many people love her, i just would point out that she is really a mezzo soprano, not a soprano, which made this a bad song choice for her...that being said, i appreciated her voice in this situation, and i love the way she has the guts to try to imitate something she knows is slightly beyond her, just to please the people she is entertaining...truly loving her fans is a great thing

This was in 2005. Now, 2014, she sings this in A Musical Affair concert with Il Divo. She still sounds the same. Their version of A Whole New World is simply fantastic. Lea sounds the same when she sang it 22 yrs. ago. What a lovely singer. Now a coach in The Voice Philippines.

I think what it is, is that on the high notes in this song, she backs off the notes and it doesn't have her full belt voice as it is in the rest of the range. You expect it to be full power there.

Idina sounds too screechy for my taste but she is still a great singer

I think what it is, is that on the high notes in this song, she backs off the notes and it doesn't have her full belt voice as it is in the rest of the range. You expect it to be full power there.

i do not know why i like watching lea singing again and again....i can felt it,there is something magic charisma hahahaha
i think music, like any other form of art, is such a personal thing. some are obsessed with technique--too much of this, needs a bit more of that, missing what-not....but many of us little people just like listening to voices that lift up OUR soul and brighten OUR spirit. lea does both for me. every. single. dang. time. even at 6 yrs old when she was playing Annie. you go girl! :D
