I don't know about AARP, but if you don't have anyone nearby it's good to have AAA. My husband was out of town once and my alternator went an hour away from home. They came out and towed me to a great service station that was quick and affordable. I always thought it was a waste of money, but I think differently now.

Dear Glenda I am 72 and I am always going over memories because I have a lot of time now. I worked out of the home for many years..about 47 total and I was mostly focused on sleeping enough, most of the time having to take a bus to work, dropping my son at daycare in the early days, making dinner and on and on..I only really had time on the weekends a little bit to go over my thoughts...how sad is that? Spending so much time on a JOB that hardly paid anything anyway! So now I help out with my autistic teenage grandson and wash a lot of dishes his dad, my son uses..I swear he loves to make a mess in the kitchen when he wants to cook! Love how you are able to talk about anything! 💕

Rofl...it works great to protect meds, yup, but I didn't sign up for it. I should, actually...my family says it saves them tons on travel, but I don't go anywhere, lol! Ok, so I know I commented before when you criticized AARP, with no accurate justification! But here goes again! The ONLY accurate thing you said about them is that they have a presence in DC. And every Senior Citizen in this nation should be thanking their lucky stars that they do!! Their presence, as I'm pretty sure I explained before is Lobbies who are lobbying for the rights of Senior Citizens!!! But hey if you don't care what Congress does to lessen Medicare and Social Security, then feel free to keep on knocking AARP! Just remember you'll be hurting the rest of us too!!! Right now with the Republicans in control in the House, and Democrats holding a very slim majority in the Senate, this just may be the time Republicans get what they've been threatening to do for years, and cut both drastically! But AARP is our possible lifeline to prevent that. Those in Congress know there are still a ton of we Baby Boomers, and even older than us, and we vote! AARP is there to keep an eye on where the various Congress Members stand. And they can give us accurate info on who's on our side, and who isn't. And the Congress folks know they let us know that so we can vote wisely! There's enough of us to change things a lot if we just work together based on the information AARP, and other Senior related organizations give us. Right now, they're attempting to keep the country going and the Republicans are threatening to not approve changes that will prevent the government from shutting down. If that happens SS and other government funded things may be cut drastically. I for one, am glad AARP is there, doing their best to go to bat for us. And NO they are NOT for profit! For petes sakes, they normally charge $16 a year, for membership! And when I just now googled to see just what the price is, I saw they right now have a reduced rate of $12, a year!! For that you get the magazine, and a state level news letter, as well as the good discounts members get at hotels and various other places. Denny's for one gives a 15% discount for AARP members, on any meal you get! And I'm sure there are other restaurants, and they send you a list when you join. Again, you have a big platform here, and influence a lot of people. PLEASE stop bashing an organization that is trying to help ALL Senior Citizens, whether they're members or not. We all benefit when they help to protect Social Security and Medicare! I'm sorry if I sound angry, but it's really frustrating to me to see an organization criticized unfairly, that's just trying to help all our lives!!

    • @glendasully
      @glendasully  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you so much, Charlotte, for taking the time to point out the positive actions taken by the AARP on behalf of Senior citizens. I appreciate it when my viewpoint is challenged. As I said in my video, I am willing to give AARP a second look & I'm grateful for your commentary about them

Well Glenda I think AARP thinks us seniors live in luxurious homes, travel to all other countries on fancy vacations and are retired living the high life. When in reality the majority of us are living month to month on our social security and pensions. Doing ok but have to watch every penny. Which really is common sense but is getting harder and harder. Thats why I turned away from them. As for AAA, I had them for a long time. The last two times I used them, they did not come for a very long time. It was in the afternoon. I was at a very small gas station convenience store place. I was very ill. It was very windy and cold. I was able to stand in the store but ready to pass out, no where to sit. Could not get in my car was locked out. Should not have gone out that day but did not get sick till after I went way down the highway. Begged them to come as soon as possible. They were very smart with me. When I called the person that answered had no idea where I was. They were in arizona, I believe they said and I was in Pa. I asked them to transfer the call to someone in western Pa. They were very smart with me and said they could not do that. Finally after a really long while when they did come the towtruck driver yelled at me for getting locked out. I told him I pulled in the station to get gas and was going to turn around and go back home as I was not feeling well. But I was so ill I locked myself out of the car. I was so embarassed all the other people were watching. Its a shame that when you get older some people think they can abuse you. I was only in my middle sixties at the time. God Bless.

My son is a single parent so I don’t mind and they moved I with me when he went thru a nasty custody battle. Be careful who you feel sorry for. A lot of those men gathering bottles and cans chose that life. They don't want to go to shelters, or get a real job, or get treatment for their mental illness. (i.e. my own experience with Bip). A lot of them use drugs. i got tired of helping those kind of people because they waste anything you give them in drugs or alcohol right away, don't use the resources that are there at their disposal, and lately i've had many instances where i didn't have any change and i APOLOGOZED to them (which i shouldn't have to do!), just to be insulted and told to f* off. Or, the minute you give them a few dollars, they turn around to ask the next person without even saying thank you. I've got enough to do looking out for rmyself, and the ones dear to me who actually consider and support me as well. 💜 A lot of seniors do collect bottles and cans to supplement their low income, now THAT is who i would choose to support ❤ Not the lazy bums on the street. (my own husband included unfortunately. he has a home here and there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER for him to be begging for change out there.)

I like the information I get in the AARP magazine and in their website. I used Planned Parenthood for my routine yearly exam in the past. I’m happy with both.

I used to watch Cheers, Seinfeld, Waltons, Golden Girls, M.A.S.H. etc. The rain seems cleansing and peaceful to me, I love rainy days more now that I stay home most of the time! Never really liked driving in it! I have AARP and have gotten discounts in stores, on hotel stays when I had to deal with my brother's affairs when he died upstate, in movie theaters, and they monitor benefits for seniors that the government gives, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid etc. They have a bunch of free services, Tax prep, I think Safe Driving Testing for insurance reduction etc! Their yearly fee is very reasonable. My daughter turned 49 last Nov and she was accepted in AARP. Now she get "all the old people mail" as she calls it! LOL! Hope Iffe feels better soon! You be careful with your compromised lungs! Have a blessed day!

These last few days its been gloomy and rainy, rainy again today and I dislike driving in it, anytime! I called my veterinarian this morning and requested a couple more syringes of pain medication for my dog that had 7 teeth removed and her cleaning, she’s on antibiotics too, some swelling on right side of her snout & has been restless last 2 nights, and she has stitches. I always liked Frazier, The Golden Girls & Two & a Half Men, I still watch the latter, comes on at 11:30pm. I have AARP bc I had to sign up with them to be able to get my medical supplement via United Healthcare, I might pay a little extra but I don’t have any copay nor do I have to do any paperwork. (Hate paperwork). I have Roadside Assistance via my auto insurance but thinking of getting Triple A again, bc they do give you peace of mind. Ok it’s 1:30am & past my bedtime, 1am is my limit. One of my favorite TV shows now is, Young Shelton… watch it sometime if you haven’t.

btw been meaning to tell you my weight loss recipe, its helped me, and a lot of my friends to lose belly fat and its so good for you.
large piece of fresh ginger chopped
    2 lemons
    400 mls water
    tablespoon of honey
fresh mint ( if desired for taste)
    blend it all together
sieve it and pour into bottle with lid to store in fridge or refrigerator as you Americans say!
drink half a beaker glass every night before bed
within a week you will start losing inches off waist
ive lost 36 pounds after 3 months of doing this
Glenda.................you should do a video of this recipe for your channel!!!!!
My sister said it tastes like toilet duck! but i kinda like it and love ginger more now x

I wont give them any of my hard earned money to give to their plush living executives who have most all the politicians in Washington in their pockets. Nope....I'm done with all the slick Willies of Washington.

    I’m 59 and next September I’ll be 60 years young! 😞😔🥺
    Time fly’s.
I often think of my childhood and days before I got divorced. If only my ex hadn’t been abusive verbally and sometimes physically abusive.
It’s good that we have those memories. Good to think about it.
I often think of the day we went on a picnic when I had just turned 6 in September. We were in Overton Nevada (60 miles from los Vegas Nevada) at Hoover dam on a picnic and my dad let us take our shoes off and stick our feet in the water. When we were done and it was time to eat my dad said don’t step on those coals that someone did not fully put out. They are still hot. We’ll, I stepped on them both feet. I screamed!! That ended our picnic. My dad stuck my feet under the water and my mom packed up and we left. My mom sprayed some Solarcaine on my feet every so often. What a dumb thing to do. Have a great day Glenda.❤
