Jen - thanks for the update! And the view on the progress in the guesthouse! The size of your project seems so huge - you have like a million little decisions to make. It must be so overwhelming! But so fun! Like I said before - I bet the time would fly by while you waited on the rainy season to pass. And it sounds like you’ve put that time to very good use. I look forward to all of it … previewing the plans (when they’re ready for prime time), meeting the new interior designer (how exciting!), seeing new/moved/expanded/shrunk doorways and windows (depending on the room) and watching the garden take a new form. It looks like there will be a ton of light coming into the guesthouse, which is awesome. So, so excited for you guys!!! Enjoy your trip back to the states! Look forward to seeing you again soon!
So many decisions, yes, but I feel so lucky to get to make them. And as we make them we get to imagine who will come to visit, use, enjoy our place and the decisions we are making, too. Things are starting to get really exciting behind the scenes! Keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times!
Hi Jenn! The hubs and I are going to be in your area Tuesday May 28- Saturday June 1st. We’re driving around the small towns from (Piedimonte Etneo to Belpasso) to see where we’d like to move next year when we retire. We visited in 2021 and loved it so now we’ll be giving it the “what would our daily life be like in this town” look. We’re enjoying your channel lots and would love to meet up for lunch/aperitivo/dinner to get your thoughts if you’ll be back by then. Also totally understand if you’re not sure about meeting up with a couple of randos from the internet 😬😂
I love a construction site walkthrough! Beautiful tile choices. Is there a floor plan you could show so we get a better idea of the layout? Having just wrapped up my own renovation in Umbria, it’s exciting to watch your project unfold. ❤
Congrats on the wrap up. Yes, we will be sharing plans a little later when we have a little more construction done in the guest house. And we are still working on the plans for the main house but all will be revealed!
I can’t wait to see how everything comes together!! Will there be a patio or an outdoor space for the gite so your guests can sit outside and enjoy the view?
Yes! We are working on the plans right now! The guest house has its own back terrace and patio with a view of the sea! We are trying to figure out how private it should be. Would you prefer a more secluded or more open feel to your garden space (it won’t change the actual square footage, just the way we divide it)? We’d love to have others weigh in.
Agree - I think secluded, too. If you’re renting it out to strangers later, you don’t really want them watching and waving while you’re swimming laps in the pool, right?
I like the arch idea where the brick is in the doorway.
Wow! Work in progress and great progress 😃👍
So much work ahead.But when you're done-Wow!

I love the chandelier and the green color. Sage green never goes out of style. Ciao! Pam, your long-time follower!🥹
Me too, I need to get her down and clean her up!

I always want the big picture first. You are getting there :) How many bedrooms?
The guest house will have one main bedroom and one convertible bedroom. The main house has 3 bedroom suites and two convertible bedroom suites.

@@OurPlaceinSicily I think secluded so your guests and you have some privacy.
