- We're Jenn and Matt and we bought a 31 room abandoned palazzo on the slopes of a volcano in Sicily. Join us for this restoration journey as we bring it back to life with the help of many, many wonderful Sicilians and others from around the globe. It's a big project but we're excited to bring this beautiful home back to life as our new home in Piedimonte Etneo, Sicily and to be able to share it with the local community.
Today we are talking about how our palazzo is the perfect project for creative minds to come together. Our goal is to proudly say we have an Architectural masterpiece by Architect Igor Gripaldi, and a Design showplace thanks to Jennifer Bertrand built by S. C. Works. How do we do that? With the right team in place and the help of many other artisans along the way, we are all excitedly working together to reach our personal and professional goals on this project...and Matt and I wouldn't have it any other way. We are also looking for input on how you would use our Kitchen wing. We feel confident that our team will design something great but we love the confluence of creative minds coming together and welcome your ideas!
Keep those questions and comments coming, we love reading and responding.

Bagno = bathroom, one of the few words I actually learned from our trip to Italy.
I ❤ the rendering of joining her “wings” together!!! I am a lover of arches 😊
Set up for cooking classes for sure!!!!
Love all your ideas for this amazing space!
Thanks! 😊
How much do I like that arched ceiling over the stove? Enough to keep it open. It's just amazing. I might add a very comfy couch and welsh like dresser in the kitchen area. I have it and love it. Make it super comfortable. Lots of fun art. My rule for our kitchen/dinning is all of this and great views with lots of windows. Not at all keen on 'perfect kitchens/dining. Having lived in England, it's that country look that is a win for me. Elegant yet relaxed and fun. Inviting and soft. And, can't have too much whimsical art!
I know, that ceiling was cool. I’m excited to combine the two rooms into a new, even more amazing ceiling, maybe with trim like the entryway has? I’m off to look up a welsh like dresser now! I’m hoping for fun and relaxed. Not uptight at all. I’ve already been dreaming about the art!
I would not like a "space" for laundry. I would want a separate, walled-in space with cupboards, so clothes and supplies do not spill out into the kitchen. I would also, were it me, soften the lines of the cubes, i.e. cove the top of the walls and age the design to tie in with the age of the house. It would tie in with the curved railing tops too. And personally, I prefer enclosed cabinets, just because it hides messes, but that is me. Just my opinion. I am enjoying the videos of how you are doing this though.
Yeah, I like a room, too. I like some stuff behind glass if it’s easy to keep neat. Like some beautiful glasses, platters and ceramics. All food stuff goes behind doors because I can’t keep it clean. Very interesting idea about the cubes! Thanks for the ideas!!
Is there any other location/bonus niche for a laundry closet?
BTW, hands-on cooking classes!
Definitely!
I would think you'd need a couple of good sized islands if your having cooking classes just to store all the utensils, cooking tools and serviceware for a dozen people. And probably 2 ovens and a pretty large fridge and sink.
Great suggestions!!!
Maybe a 2nd smaller island by the cooking area for your daily use.
Yes, great idea!!!
