- This video describes how to install wainscoting with chair rail. I used it to guide me through a bathroom renovation project. If you watch it a few times at key points you can really get the idea.

Norm, you and your partners at, This Old House, are the best. Top quality work, always.
Extremely professional well done video and fabulous information
Norm was my very first "TV" crush when I was 6-7 years old. I never understood why they even had Bob Vila around when Norm did everything. Norm, and This Old House, created in me a love of old homes & home improvement. Thank you Norm!
Thank you for fast forwarding through the safety talk.
Norm is so talented w woodworking he is the man!!
I love it that people are watching this video, that is at least 15 years old, and complaining about the quality.
Norm Abrams always makes it look so effortless; I wish my projects went as flawlessly
Norm... the guy who has a perfect cut everytime.
great video with steps by steps explainations. thanks
Be prepared for MUCH more frustration than Norm displays. Most homeowners have neither the skills or tools that a pro finish carpenter has to accomplish these results.
If you are having new tile flooring installed, which do you do first?
That's great but what do you do when it has to butt up to door moldings that are only 3/4" think. A lot of videos shows these easy parts but not how to deal with the hard stuff.
What about cut outs for Outlets and Around window sills ETC. ????
Thank you, your video is great. Will the mdf get ruined if it get's a little wet?
no.
Pvc wainscoting panels can change shapes based on location in room
He’s so damn good he pisses me off!
Hardest part of it is the coping of the trim as well as in the video. Every thing else seem straight forward.
what to do when encountering wall outlet
I hate it when I get shrinkage in my joint! Usually happens when I drink.
Well MDF will hold up better than drywall. Both material suck. That's why my house is made of stainless steel and diamonds.
Aren't you special, you little troll?
What about painting all the panels first, can't get an answer for that, I'm thinking that it should all be painted first, front and back.
no
Why would you paint the back? You’re right about painting the front though, it’s much easier painting first then installing< saves a lot of time.
why install the beadboard UNDER the baseboard??? You are losing height and it is much easier to install/level the baseboard first then the fit the beadboard into the grooved edge of the beadboard baseboard.
it is all about having the right tools. all I got is a butter knife and some super glue, so until my tax return gets here i am s.o.l.
This is harder than I thought. But I am just a beginner and coping is not my favorite past time.
I see what you did there
Whys the video so friggin dark
I agree 100% with the poor quality video.
Wow the master but MDF sucks
I know he's a Yankee and all, but there IS an "L" in the word "caulk". Otherwise, we're talking about something completely different!
Very poor quality and lighting on this video. I got discouraged and left. Please redo this video in a better quality and lighting so we can actually see what your are talking about. Btw, at 04:08 you cut the board with the face up something you recommended not doing at the begging. Thanks.
Video quality makes this video useless
Bad quality... such a shame
