Easiest!!! No House Paint Bloom Tutorial!!!!

- If you're like me you LOVE blooms, but don't want the hassle and expense of experimenting with house paints. I'd much rather be able to create a similar effect with acrylic paint and mediums I already have on hand. So I put my analytical brain to work experimenting with different paint brands, thicknesses, and additives as well as different blowing and stretching techniques. The result is this tutorial which I hope will allow you to achieve consistent success with you no house paint bloom goals. Scroll down for mixing ratios. Thanks for watching! Ingredients:
*Medium Body Acrylic Paint such as Liquitex Basics or Artists Loft (Michael's Brand)
*Floetrol
*Elmers Glue-All (I've heard Elmers School Glue works as well)
Mixing Ratios
Base Paint and Colours: 1 part paint: 1 part Floetrol: 1 part water
Cell Activator: 1 part titanium white*: 1 part Elmers Glue-All water 70/30 mix: 1/2 part water..... paper test thicknesses and adjust until base and colours are all equal and cell activator is slightly thinner
*while I've found this ration will work with most brands of paint, I do recommend using a Titanium White for the cell activator. Titanium white is one of the heaviest pigments and more likely to produce a reaction

I’ve watched dozens of others that require buying a ton of products that I wouldn’t use otherwise so I had finally decided to give up on creating bloom-type pours and then I saw this. I have everything on hand so I, of course, immediately went to try it out and it worked! Best tutorial I’ve seen!

I have the exact same puppy pool and it fits on my art table. I put black thick plastic in it for easy clean up.

Hmmmm, well, I guess ounce for ounce you might be able to get house paint cheaper. I guess when I mentioned expense I was more referring to the expense in wasted product trying to find a mixture that worked in a medium I'm not familiar with. I was more interested in creating a recipe that worked with paints and mediums that I already had on hand, not necessarily that it would be the cheapest way to create a bloom.
I have not done one yet-still studying the methods, but is using house paint method a more glossy finish?
I don't think the finish is more glossy with house paint once dry. You'll notice that most people who create blooms, either with house paint or just acrylic, often finish with a topcoat of resin to add back the depth, sparkle, and glossiness the paint has while wet. I think the house paint can create a more dramatic effect IF and it's a big IF you can find brands and ratios that actually work. It takes a lot trial and error and can result in a lot of money wasted on house paint and sealers that might not end up working.
Can you please clarify the cell activator formula? What part paint ? What part Elmer's glue all? What part water? I'm really hoping I can reproduce (atleast a little) your results.
Sure, so if you look in the video description the way I mix it is... before I start mixing the cell activator I dilute my Elmer's Glue all at a ratio of 70% glue to 30% water and mix well. This is a standard mix for people who use Glue-All as a medium and I always have some of it mixed up and on hand. For the cell activator I mix at a ratio of 1 part paint: 1 part Elmers Glue-All medium (already diluted 70:30 as mentioned above): to a 1/2 part of water. So in other words if I used 2 ounces of paint I would add 2 ounces of Glue-All medium and 1 ounce of water. I then test my thicknesses on paper and add water to the cell activator bit by bit until it is slightly thinner than the base and colours. Hope this helps! Love to know how it goes for you! ☺

@@CathieRichardson9802 Not sure if they are the same. In Canada we can get Elmers Glue-All and Elmers School Glue. As far as know, both work.
Where did you find the puppy pen? Are you in the US? I only see the metal or plastic ones.
I found it on Amazon. I'm not in the US though, Canada

I’m not getting why people use acrylic ink to their CA . ?? Isn’t paint good enough if using glue or silicone oil ??
