    Lisa.. thank you so much for this tutorial! As much as I am in LOVE with acrylic pour paintings... I have hesitated to give it a try.... Primarily because I live in a small condo where storage and activity space are limited...and let's face it... paint can be messy! BUT... you have just given me inspiration!! With minimal paint, pigment powders, a cell activator, and a few tools... I can do this... and possibly keep the mess off the carpet. Gosh... I'm so excited now. Thank you!

    Well well well... I have finally learned my egregious error in bloom making! 😒I have been using the right house paint....right down to the Valspar brand. However, in my hours of ignorant mindlessness, I've had them tint the base White! 😑 Ugh! This realization is almost painful. If it is true that we learn from our mistakes, I will soon be a Rhodes Scholar! Thank you immensely for inserting, into my brain, the common sense knowledge of which I apparently missed out!😪 Gotta run. Lowe's closes in an hour! BRB!🤪

    • @HarmonyHouseArt

Yeah I’ve got the bell on all but I’ve subscribed to so much, I like true crime so I’ve a heap of them, I love the narrowboats so got narrowboat shows, and of course Mr Ballen then there are my water and acrylic painting ones too, sometimes I get so many it’s easy to miss. I unsubscribed to a number of them, mainly the true crime as they’re easy to find anyway, there are some I really look forward to don’t want to miss and yours is one. Hopefully now I’m sorted. I would like to start by saying your creations are always stunning. I watch your videos over and over again, they are all amazing. I have had zero luck in succeeding in doing blooms or much else for that matter.I decided ti try and use the exact ingredients that you use. I went to purchase the Valspar paint and was surprised there was 3 bases. Do you always use baser c or does it vary depending on the
    colours you are using? Thank you so very much for sharing your knowlerge and for all the videos you have done.

    • @HarmonyHouseArt
      @HarmonyHouseArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words, Heather! Yes, I only use base C because I typically use darker colors (which C is designed for) so not sure how much difference you'd see with the A & B.

      @@HarmonyHouseArt Thank you do much for getting back to me so quickly.I am getting so overwhelmed with all the different recipes out there. So many just font seem to work fir me. Love your work, I m new at this craft and trying so hard to achieve some of the ways these pours are done. I've tried many recipes for the mixing the paints, can't seem to get all the cells even though I use the exact recipes. Don't know what I'm doing wrong but I love your work.

    • @HarmonyHouseArt
      @HarmonyHouseArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much, Kay! In this bloom technique, the cells arise because the paints we use as the "cell activators" are very thin and stretchy. You can blow or swipe them over the other colors and the other colors pop up through the parts that stretched out. These are very different from cells that arise in regular pours- those are usually from the friction of the paints and the oils used in them (and the oil in Floetrol encourages cell development.) Hope that helps!

  • @carolineg.5461
    @carolineg.5461 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Lisa !! I look your mix for the first time. I have a question for you. The valspar is very liquid and blank? Is dry transparent? is like the satin enamel Behr 8300? But this binder is soooooo thick comparated to Valspare...😂😂
    It's just for verify my PM. And think than I have find why you have the paint more liquid for the bloom dutch. 🥰❤
    Your results are soooo amazing when you do the bloom dutch.
    Is it important to verify the transparency of the paint for do bloom flower?
    Thank you so much to help me sweet Lisa. ❤❤❤

    • @HarmonyHouseArt
      @HarmonyHouseArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you as always for your kind words, Caroline! No, the Valspar is very thick like the Behr brands and has no added pigment but does have a natural, light yellowish color from the ingredients in it. If your bloom mix seems too thick, try adding Floetrol or JoSonja varnish to thin it out a bit. Even though Floetrol is not thin, it helps the paints move around and go farther because of the oils in it. The brand of base paint you use doesn't matter but the climate you live in does affect how the paints work together.

    • @HarmonyHouseArt

      So, it's not untinted gloss paint, it's the BASE for making paints that you need. Of course you you skip it and see what happens though.

    Hi Lisa. It’s pretty but I kinda liked it before you spun it 😀
    Got a question: the pillow you used, did you actually use black house paint or did you use something else for that color?
    One more thing: I find it’s much easier to disperse the pigments first in about a tablespoon of either your mix or JoSonja. Then when you add your mix it’s very fast to combine because your pigments are basically paint at that point.
    You can get all the granules mixed in super well with mixing the small amount first.
    At least that works for me.

      No, the black satin enamel base is much thinner. I mix 1 part DecoArt black satin enamel with 1 part Artist Loft Soft Body black. To that mix, I add 2-4 parts Floetrol, then a few drops of water if needed.

    • @HarmonyHouseArt

      What I use to make the pouring medium is the tintable base paint that stores use to mix custom color paints with. They start with a tintable base which has no pigment added and that is what I use. I just tell the stores I'm making my own custom colors. I mix half of the tintable base with half of either Josonja varnish or triple gloss varnish. It will be a very thick mix but you can thin it with more of the Josonja. If you don't have a store nearby that can custom mix paint, you may be able to find a tintable base on Amazon and I know you can find the varnishes there. Best wishes! PS- I think they are probably latex bases.
