Icelandic Folk Song on Langspil - Man ég Þig mey

Back in August, while on vacation in Iceland, I met with the great rímur-chanter and tradition bearer Bára Grímsdóttir.
We had agreed to record a few traditional songs acapella, but then her husband and musical partner, Chris Foster, offered to accompany her on langspil!
The langspil is an old icelandic instrument, which ceased to be used regularly around 100 years ago, unfortunately before any archival recordings were made...
Bára and Chris arranged this tune, which is a poem by the great Jónas Hallgrímson set to a traditional two-part melody, to show the many different ways a langspil can be played.

I have a question: is there a possibility that some langspil models have been made with a symmetrical soundbox? I just stumbled upon an advertisement with a hummel that made me strongly think of the langspil: it has one melody string in the middle, with two sets of 7 (!) bourdon strings on each side. Maybe this instrument is a langspil variant? I hope you can help me out. BTW milady: you have the voice of an angel. I enjoyed this performance very much.
