For those wondering what the song means, I give the outline of the lyrics. Where appropriate, I try to match the lines, but that can't always be done because Lithuanian and English grammars are quite different. Also, the original is replete with diminutives like "kibirkštėlė" ~ "little spark", and while this works in Lithuanian, this is difficult to translate faithfully to English. (LYRICS BELOW) Už ežero Behind the lake Ugnys dega Fires are burning 2x Krenta byra Kibirkštėlės Little sparks fall down 3x Man siratai And mine, the orphan's, ašarėlės Tears Eisiu girion I'll go to the woods Paklausyti To listen 2x Ar kukuoja If a cuckoo is singing Gegutėlė 3x Ar ramina If it is consoling Siratėlę The orphan Sunku sodui 'Tis hard for the garden Be kirvelio Without a little ax 2x Man siratai ('Tis hard) For me, the orphan, Be tėvelio Without the father Sunku girėj 'Tis hard in the woods Be gegulės Without the cuckoo 2x Man siratai ('Tis hard) For me, the orphan, Be motulės Without the mother

In fact, I see similarities and many overlaps between the Baltic culture and the Slavic Culture (though there are differences certainly), especially the folk dances, dresses, and perhaps even food.
