I would imagine! After all, the Irish did march against their own brothers and countrymen, perhaps 5 to 1, in that war. You might even say the Irish had a hand in the causing of that war, since the Union wouldn't have posed any threat to the policies of the South, prior to, the Irish storming Tammany and demanding the vote for landless immigrants; and the resulting instability in frontier territories/new states. Our wild political system is the legacy of the Irish mob. Super cringe moment for the Irish.
My ancestors fought on both sides, they also had a court dispute in the 1850s, between the northern and southern cousins, over a tract of land in North Carolina, of which the Indiana cousins claimed an inheritance. It's this sort of clannish attitude, and the fact of political influence given, to be wielded by the poor, that facilitated such a bloody war between brothers.

There’s a song about Nathan Bedford Forrest in which they use the same melody.
I am certain this melody is older than the civil war though
