Oregon Trophy Trout Fishing Detroit Lake! | Catching Hogs on the Dam! | Late Spring Trout Fishing!

- In this video, we set out to Detroit Lake Dam on a beautiful Spring afternoon in Oregon. The bite was on, and we caught a handful of big trophy trout, as well as some medium and small sized fish. As accustomed, we used our crab ring to securely bring the fish up the Dam (and avoid them breaking our lines). We got great footage with lots of zooming in for easy viewing. It was a phenomenal family day of fishing.
This will be a trip that will stay in our memories forever...or at least until next time!

How big was it? And how long ago did you catch it?

@@northwestweekenders - I definitely want to go more often. I wasn’t using the Carolina rig then, so I think I will have more luck.
I did go salmon fishing on the Santiam, no luck but a big pikeminnow
We do also catch some big ones on the Dam with bobber and worm. Anywhere from 8-12 feet down does the trick for us. For some reason, we do better on bobber later in the summer which seems backwards because you'd think the fish would go deeper during the warmer months when the water heats up.
Pikeminnow are pretty fun to catch! We get them occasionally while targeting bass on the Willamette, but nothing very big recently.

What did you catch them on? And did you say 10-15 below the surface?
All but one were caught on PowerBait. The hot color of the the day was orange. We also did well on chartreuse and garlic.
Yes, 10-15 feet below the surface on a slow retrieve.
