      Hey Nick, I think about the video cropping "problem you have", you should hold the video button then frame it right then let go to start recording. I am going to get the note 9, and software updates aren't a deal breaker to me but I have to agree(I think it is its main/biggest weakness), it is disappointing to not have the unlocked phones get the update(or at least not as fast as anyone else). I think that should be their top priority(or one of their top priorities). But you are one of my most favorite TechTubers. Keep up the good work!

      @@mdrahman6732 I have the android 9 update + one ui since mid January bought it unlocked the128 GB dual sim exynos version in November. I had 2 more updates for thr ui and software improvements until now too. The camera "zoom in thing" is because of the aspect ratio pictures are shot in 4:3 and videos are shot in 16:9 when you choose 2160p 60fp/30fps or 1080p 60fps/30 , 1440p 30fps. The Device is working smooth no hickups or lagg but I turned all transition effects and animations off because it does make the phone feel sluggish when you switch apps or open camera switch back to a other app for example. I had one plus 3 before where it was the same thing didn't like the effects. The brightness of the note 9 screen is very good you can turn it to maximum brightness manual if you don't have the automatic setting on if you need and change it back they added that in the update too I think. The headphones that came with the note 9 the " akg headphones " are not nice the normal inears that you get for 10-20$ from Samsung Philips, sony, sennheiser, JBL sound better. I have some Sennheiser cx300 II inears and some of the old Samsung inears the difference in sound is huge I tried all of the different ear buds for the akg in ear headphones no improvement :D for music absolute no go or for calling someone the braided cable is nice doe nice video Mr.Ackerman

    • @crow1989
      @crow1989 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lovecaleighjeanine5101 There are reasons that most android phones have a chin on the bottom. One of which is cost, the other is how Android phones have to be structured. The chin in an android phone contains a ribbon that connects the display to the touch controller. Apple can afford to manufacture their phones without this issue as they only release their phones once in a yearly cycle. Android manufacturers make a slew of devices from budget phones to their premium devices so it's not cost effective for them at the moment. If the note had no chin, it would have cost alot more than $1000.

    I have had the N9 since launch. I use the N8 for work, and it made me want to switch from iphone to the N 9. The N9 is a beast! The most complete smartphone out there. I have Verizon, so I haven't got the One UI update yet, but I'm not hung up on it because Samsung Experience to me is great. Touch Wiz was the reason I hadn't bought Galaxy phones in the past, but I think Sammy has come a long way on Software. As a tech enthusiast, the one thing I can say about the Note phones are you are less likely to want to upgrade every year. I'm a power user and feel like I could throw so much more at this phone. N9 is discounted everywhere it seems with the S10 launch coming up, makes this phone a great value. Because of the Note, I rarely open my personal Mac Book.

    Secondly U can EASILY GET THE ONE UI UPDATE VIA SAMSUNG MEMBERS APP! No need to go to Xda developers and get official beta update through samsung members app.
    Thirdly,U have to update all the Galaxy apps thorugh the Galaxy store for example Email,Gmail,etc. Those r anothet type of updates.
    Fourth is that the carriers are the reason for the late update otherwise here in Asia Note 9 Already got January patch and Feb is rolling out

    Wait until battery is in the Red, turn it off (power off), wait a few minutes then plug in the charging cable and wait about 2 hours until fully charged.

    I have note 9 and my room mate have Xs max. As far as I have noticed note 9 is as much as bright to Xs max. And yeah people saying whether it lags or not hell no . Never lag nor any frames drop in my note. My friends Xs max freezes sometimes while playing games so not sure why people still think iPhone max is shit and bla bla . I love Xs max , I love my note 9 but to be fair still Xs max isn't worth the money and yeah note 9 wasnt either but now it's way more comfortable. And talking about smoothness of stock Android it sucks honestly I use oneplus as a secondary device it is really boring as hell. ( Personal choices though)

      I had the note 9 since September, two weeks ago I picked up the xs max 512gb. Sure note 9 has great hardwares but android is a terrible Os, also the gesture system is complicated. In iOS everything is more natural and never gets laggy, in contrast apps in the note 9 started to crash after only 4 months of use. Also camera in the note 9 is a big disappointment, the shutter speed is really slow so if anything slightly moves you will get a blurred picture. Note 9 is another miss for Samsung.

Plus I totally disagree with the display brightness dimmed off.... note 9 uses a super amoled display panel and to be noted here that iPhones display panels are also supplied by Samsung. iPhone don't even have an amoled display ( leave the part "super" which note 9 have extra ). Obviously Samsung won't supply their best panels to their raw competitors!! So how can note9 display look dimmed than iPhone!!

      It's actually the iris/face recognition, it seems like Samsung isn't as sure with its recognition technology (a big part is software) while Apple is because Apple made face recognition its primary unlock security (shows how sure they are about it ) while Samsung didn't. It isn't to scare people into buying the newest phones since people can use the touch id or password (pretty fool proof)

    512/8 Gig RAM Note 9 owner here.
    Love the battery life and stamina with quick charging right out of the box. Only used battery saver once to stretch out 2 days of use since its last charge. Love the screen and speaker output. Had a Note 8 prior, Note 7, 5, 4 and 3. Definite improvement in fidelity.
    I'm a little sore as my screen has a few areas where screen light is visible between the glass and frame (bummer). Also, my finger print reader has visible scratches on it and I can't think of how they got there. My every day case is a Spigen clear case and my going out with my wife case is the Brown leather Samsung wallet case. No screen protector with no scratches on the screen either.
    I got the 512/8 Gig model for the extra RAM but frankly, not sure I am getting much benefit over the standard 6 Gig of RAM model.
    I love my Note 9. Looking forward to the design language for the Note 10. I feel the S10 Plus will be giving us a good idea of what's to come.

    Nice video. I have to disagree with you about the brightness and saturation. I also have the XS Max, and in my opinion, the Note is brighter. Maybe because the whites appear whiter on the Note it appears brighter to me. Saturation, in display...use the advanced option to adjust the red, yellow, and blues. Also, I use a naked (clear) skin from Slickwraps for the back of my phone to prevent scratches. Only things I like more about my XS Max is face ID, the speakers, and the smoothness of iOS. Other than that, the Note 9, to me, is the best all around phone.

      I am the embodiment of the meme world not at all. My main complaints come from the gestures. You can’t side swipe to go back and forth on chrome, to show your open tabs in chrome is very complicated since you have to swipe down from the search bar, so is unnatural. I never felt connected to the gestures system. Also camera has a very slow shutter so if anything moves in the scene you will get a blurry photo. None of this things happen in the xs max.

    • @Resticon
      @Resticon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are a fairly decent number of differences. Many of them seem may seem minor but can make the phone a good bit better when combined together. The 512 GB Note 9 with 8GB RAM is way better for speed and consistent functionality than the 256GB Note 8 with 6GB RAM. The dual aperture capability for the wide lens camera is better for people who are into photography and the 4k video fps doubles from the 8 to 9 while the 720p and 1080p fps quadruples. The stereo speakers significantly improve the sound quality but are best if the Dolby Atmos feature is turned on. The fingerprint reader is practically instantaneous on the 9 while it takes a second on the 8. Throw in the extended battery life and the bluetooth S-Pen and it has a couple good advantages. Whether it is worth it to upgrade this late, however, that's another story. With the potential upgrades ranging from Wifi 6 and 5G, 1TB built-in storage, Infinity screens with no beveling, triple camera set-up, In-screen fingerprint scanner, 3D face scanning, foldable screens and the 7nm Snapdragon 855...you might want to wait and see what the Note 10 has in store first. Bear in mind the price for the Note 10 will probably be crazy high so if you aren't looking to spend a ton of money, you might be better off with a 512GB Note 9 if you can get them on a special.

    In brightness department, I always use my S9 at 50% brightness. It's very bright even in sunlight, I can see everything clearly without going all the way up to 100%. There's no need to be brighter than iPhone's screen, because it's already bright.
    Nice video anyways !

      I’m not saying the display is not bright! They definitely are I’m just saying I have noticed the iPhone XS Max gets brighter under manual control. Amazing display just something that could be upgraded if they wanted to :) thanks for sharing your feedback appreciate that

    There also opening the spen up to developers so we should get more features, but I'm expecting it to be noticeable after the next note.

    I had the Note 4 that I loved but with the unreliable GPS signal and issues , had to buy something else. Now I am tempted to go back again to Samsung with the Note 9 but I read about similar GPS issues. Are these fixed or did you experience any GPS problem with yours?
