WOah hands off the soya sauce until you savour the meal flavour to your liking. those sauces are to condiment when not up to your taste.

4:40 Ken, you shouldn’t have to add more soy sauce to pancit bihon. When eating at a local food stalls you have to taste it first, most of the time you don’t need to add condiments to your food. It was there for when the taste isn’t to your likings.

Yeah, after watching a few of your videos, l noticed that the Filipino locals are truly truly friendly. They could just strike up a conversation and are not camera shy. A BIG APPLAUSE to all Filipinos out there. And to you, Ken, you are equally friendly, humble and down to earth type. Well done, well done !!!
Yummy "bihon"/noodles ....wow, a big portion indeed. Interesting drinking session with that "drinking master" 🤓😀 Fun and entertaining watching your video. Thanks Ken.

Try to avoid taking a taxi bc you will encounter a lot of traffic. For a change, try taking mass transit( and I don’t mean tricycles and jeepneys). MRT- mass rapid transit, LRT- light rail transit and under construction are the Metro Manila Subway and the Makati Intra City Subway system which would be integrated. The Metro Manila Subway will have a station at BGC and the Ortigas Commercial Districts which are slated to be partially operational in 2025.
It is a common practice in the Philippines to pack up your leftovers for eating at home. Sometimes, serving sizes are too much for 1 meal hence the takeout. We are not in the habit of wasting food like they practice in western societies particularly the United States and most countries in Europe!
Thank you for visiting the Philippines and Stay well!

Hi Ken. Another great vlog you had to explore in Manila right now. i see you've tried one of the special Filipino foods that is Pancit Bihon. I'd Hope you liked how it tastes of a kind noodle that we have here in the Philippines. There's a saying in Chinese when you eat Pancit Noodles, it gives you a long life. Try also Spanish Bread. its one of the Best bread server also during the days of WW1 here in the Philippines.
Be careful on Drinking Redhorse. Redhorse is a combination of Gin and Beer. So if you're not used to it that much, there's a tendency you might get a little stomach ache and Dizzyness through it plus vomit. Just be careful. Redrose is a very strong alcohol in the Philippines.
Try to visit the National Museum Of Manila, Luneta park, Fort Santiago and Intrumuros. you may get around to seeing the wonderful historical culture of the Philippines. Those are the typical Great places to look around in Manila.
Just don't mind when people call you Joe. Some Filipino can misinterpreted when they see a foreigner around. Good Thing you have the humility to interact with others. Always take care and enjoy more good times here in our beautiful country. I hope your travel here will be more efficient.

If you go to neighborhood bakeries ask for spanish bread and pan de coco. That's always a best seller anywhere you go. Also worth trying is the pandesal (local breakfast roll) as well as the ensaimada. Speaking of which you should try the breads and pastries in Mary Grace. Their specialty is cheese breead and the ensaimada.

Yeah. “Joe” comes from GI Joe. A term that was popular in WWII. Filipinos would call America soldiers, Joe. Old habits are hard to break. I can’t imagine going to another country then called something like “hey China boy.” There’s no insult there just love and endearment but I know it’s weird.

Unfortunately, Filipinos are born beer drinkers. They treat it like water. Do not make the mistake( which you are discovering in this vlog) of challenging Filipinos to a drinking challenge because they will drink to the Death or until they puke . In the provinces, people enjoy your company more than they enjoy their drink!
You are absolutely right about being called Joe.After WWII, the Americans , having liberated the country from the invading Japanese, were referred to as Joe. Ironically, prior to the Japanese invasion, it was the Americans that invaded the Philippines after the Filipinos liberated themselves from the Spanish who brutalized the people in their 300+ years stay in the country!

Why does people call you "JOE"? It’s something that every white male in the Philippines is familiar with…the smiley jeepney driver waves and yells out “Hey Joe!” as he drives by. This is an expression left over from WWII, a “term of endearment” for American soldiers (think “G.I. Joe”). It’s certainly not meant as an insult, and Americans seem to love it.
