Today we begin a trip for a couple weeks exploring the island of Mindanao. On my first day of travel from my home in Leyte island central Philippines, a flawless journey occurred with friendly people and a beautiful clean ship.

Hey Tim, made it to the epilog and your link for Airlo has come at a great time ... I've recently been researching sims for Singapore before we head back to Leyte in December! Looks like the 7 day plan will be perfect for us as we are their for a few days before we go to Phils. Perfect as we then don't need to rush out and get a local sim for the month we are there. Hoping we might see you on Leyte sometime during December or January :)

Same as always in the Phil’s, you pay, go next window and pay then next window and pay again and when u think your done, there’s one more time to line up and pay. You def need to get used to inefficient ways and relax and laugh it off😁. Good work lol

I have some Filipina neighbors up here in Winnipeg, Canada. They are so nice and always reward me when i clean the snow from their sidewalk with food.
you have FREE food during winter.
It's like your buying a house with all the windows and paperwork to get I to ferry 😅😅

Welcome to Mindanao Tim. That was a cool video! Be safe traveling. Be very aware of the highway just after Davao City limits as the drivers speed tends to pick up. Keep your head on a swivel in that area. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the view. Try to do a loop. Go back North on a different route than you came down. Lots of beautiful views to see. We are in Davao if you’d like to get together or even pick up the mini FJ cruiser.

I'd be a lot more concerned about coming from surigao and turning left at ampayon for davao.
Once you cross the border into agusan del sur the road is atrocious and it doesn't slow the buses down. They will pass like they are on fire.
I'm on sibagat about halfway between butuan and bayugan.
Watch yourself on that stretch of highway.
Once you reach sibagat it's OK from there on but from the border of agusan del norte to el rio its bad

I travel with either my delica starwagon 4x4 or my Toyota hiace conversion van. The bigger ferries are comfortable. But I like truck cargo boats best.. I don't have to get out of van. And I'm not bothered by anyone the whole trip. I get lots of sleep and prep work in between locations. I upgraded to the goldwing 160cc scooter( kitted trike) a bit of a pain cause I have to use a cargo trailer. The hitch carrier too small.
Been to 250 islands so far.

Have a wonderful time in Mindanao. that was the first place I ever went to visit in the Philippines. to meet a beautiful young gold digger. I stayed at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City for only $2.09 a night because they listed the price wrong. I got to meet Mayor Duterte at the time in 2010 because he to was staying at the hotel at that time. who knew he would become the President of the Philippines at the time. I would not have even known who he was if it was not for my girl friend at that time.
Why travel to the Philippines to find a gold digger? There's so many in your home country.

Tim I Have always enjoyed your videos and would like to ask you about your scooter are you happy with the size? I'm over 6 foot tall and 250 lbs. I currently ride a 1000 cc bike in the US. but will need to perches a scooter when I return to the Davao later this year thanks for taking time to answer my question and keep up the good work
For short trips it is fine. There is a X-max that is a 300. If money is no issue or if longer trips. Go with that.
Great video Tim, im based in Angeles which for me has everything you need. I tour the phils and love every moment. Had great trip from tacloban to polompon for ferry to bago city , cebu. Onto bantayan island. Living the dream mate.

Hello Tim, I took a car ferry from Dumaguete to Mindanao in June. The bathroom was FILTHY and we paid extra for the aircon that didn't work. It was still a good deal for $10 dollars.

Is Liloan in Southern Leyte ? Or is it closer to Örmoc? Coz there’s a Liloan in Örmoc ?
It is in southern leyte, but SL is like a two pronged fork and you have to go way around to traverse it. Ormoc is 2-3 hrs

Surigao, too much traffic and tons of people. My least favorite place. I'm from dinagat island. No traffic and not too many people. But no bars or fast food or malls. Nice place.
