Wow, period perfect!! Colors, decals and external lights are spot on. You really did an OUTSTANDING job on this build Chris!! Excellent shout-out for all of us retired lawman!!!!
One thing you do to your models to set them apart from many is accent the door and truck lines with a wash. This separates from looking real vs looking like a toy my opinion. Same as the grills . Thank you for your videos, you are far my favorite to watch build.
I built a couple of these back in the late 70's. Yes, I'm old!! They were fun to build, I'd like to build another, along with the Ford van, to add to my collection. Great looking build, as always, paint looks great. Thanks for sharing.
really sweet addition to all the civilian cars/truck kits- it's neat to see service vehicles now and then, AMT used to have a plethora of fire trucks and emergency vehicle kits back in the day... amazing work! :)
Great A.M.T. Chevy Van I've built it many times as a Custom, Fire Rescue, and a Open Road Camper Van. Very detailed kit oh yeah the A-Team Van Too lol Great Videos keep up the good work. Thanks
I would love to see some custom van kits again with some air brushed art for the front and back. When I was a kid I remember seeing a Ford Econoline van around Rome Georgia (where I live) It was a dark blue in color with a BEAUTIFUL white Pegasus painted on the side of it. I found out many years later from the sister of the actual owner of it that it belonged to a young man who was a parapalegic who did most of the interior work on it. She had also told me that the mural of the Pegasus was inspired by a Steve Miller Band album cover. It was a BEAUTIFUL van. I wish I had a picture of it to show you.
Nice work as always , man. I've always loved these old *AMT* *Chevy* *Van* kits ---- used to get them at *GEMCO* back in the 70's . It's so awesome that *Round2* has been reissuing these in their many iterations ; so far I've only got the *Emergency* / *Ambulance* reissue . One item that's been bothering me , and it's not mutually-exclusive to AMT (et al.) kits : The American Flag decals are correct *only* for the right (driver's) side ! When applied to the left ( passengers' ) side , the Union is facing in "Retreat !" association ! The Union ( the Stars ) is always supposed to be facing-forward . Never-the-less... that doesn't detract from your build . I always enjoy your videos and their content .
Very attractive paint combination. Once again you did a thorough kit introduction. I now know this kit is worth purchasing. Only question is whether I build it as an emergency vehicle or custom van. I suppose the smart move is to buy 2 of these vans and build both versions. Thanks, Chris!
Really cool build! I have an older version of this kit in the stash. I hate that AMT did the rear windows and doors the way they did, it'd be really cool to have it all opened up. Loved the build, yours looks sweet! :D
I'm a huge vanner. Right now I have a 86 chevy g20 shorty and since its my daily driver I have white letter cooper cobra front tires and cooper Discover at3 xlt all terrain tires on the rear for winter lol
Hi Chris. I wish they would make more vans centerd around the 70's Custom Van era. Maybe do some reproductions of them with new tooling and an expanded decal sheet. What do you think ?
Hello Chris I am currently working on the fire rescue van like that and I am having difficulty with the front suspension and King pins any help would be appreciated step 4 to step five or show in two different things and step four there's nowhere for me to attach the wheel but step five there's a completely different part there that's not listed anywhere
Hi, I watch a lot of your reviews and often hear you say that you give a lot of the chrome parts a "flat coat" I was wondering what product you use and how you get the parts to dull down a bit. Thanks!
Wow this looks amazing. No way I could ever come close to making mine look that good. I do have a question. I thought rustoleum paint was bad for model plastic. Could you please verify. Thank you and great job
Rustoleum 2X brands are safe for direct plastic contact. All other Rustoleum it's wise to use a primer coat first, then apply paint. I use a primer at all times anyway.
Those Firestone all terrain t/c tires also come in the amt 1978 ford 4x4 pickup kit. Speaking of that kit I’m building it right now and I would love to see a review/ build on it to see you opinion on it. If you were to build it, could you do a nice 2-tone paint on it. Btw great build on the van!
That looks incredible. Love watching your videos very informative and learn alot of detail skills, I was thinking about getting this kit had an idea to make the A team van from it.
I just watched this review recently and had to recall some parts of it with a build I’m doing. The Cannonball Run Dodge emergency van. I detailed up the engine and interior only to realize no one will ever see it. The rear and hood are completely enclosed. Now I understand it’s a kit from the 80s but wow, so much false advertising on the box. The movie Van was a Dodge Sportsman Van, and that kit does exist and is pictured on the box BUT, the Van used for the kit is a standard Dodge Van and not even the right year or model. Might have to shop for a donor body and grill.
By bad guys you mean Proctor and Harris? That's a nice kit. Kinda find it odd tho that they put all those efforts on an engine that's not seen. This kit could've been a curbside and it would've been fine. I know there's an opening hood option, but even then, pretty sure you don't see much of the engine.
Here are several model kits you could do: 1. AMT 1/20 1993 GMC Sonoma High-Rider 4X4 Pickup Truck SLE Model Kit 2. MPC 1/16 1979 Pontiac Firebird Model Kit 3. MPC 1/16 1982 Pontiac Firebird Model Kit 4. AMT 1/25 1970 Chevrolet Impala SS "Heavy-Chevy" Model Kit 5. AMT 1/25 1997 Ford Mustang GT (50 Years) Model Kit
I'm currently building this van the red rescue van and I'm having some trouble with the front suspension with the King pins step 4 is telling me to do it one way but when I go to step five it's showing a different piece there that you would attach the rim to that's not shown in step four did you have this problem any help would be appreciated
Hugh! Bad boys! What you gon? What you gon? What you gonna do? What are you gonna do when they come for you? Tell me! What you gonna do? What you gonna do? Yeah! Wow, period perfect!! Colors, decals and external lights are spot on. You really did an OUTSTANDING job on this build Chris!! Excellent shout-out for all of us retired lawman!!!!
Thanks Ron, much appreciated!
Good build! I think Hightower and Tackleberry would have a good time hauling away the riff raff from the Blue Oyster at closing time in this van.
Man I love that movie!
"Son, where did you get this gun? My Mom gave it to me!" What a great movie!
Another gem Chris. Keep up the great work!.....3 days to build!! Jesus, I'm lucky to get one built in 3 months ☹️
Thank you Dean!

Thanks man!
I'm so thrilled they reissued the police version! Now they need to see about reviving the Camper van version! Awesome build
Thanks! The camper would be tops on my list to build up.
This would make for a great Punisher Van.
That too!
really sweet addition to all the civilian cars/truck kits- it's neat to see service vehicles now and then, AMT used to have a plethora of fire trucks and emergency vehicle kits back in the day... amazing work! :)

Geez that blue looks like a perfect match to the box art almost, well done!!
Thank you!
Thanks Chris for the great review and build. Round 2 just keeps the hits coming and here is another kit to buy!
Thanks for watching!

It's great that Round 2 is offering kits with so many extra and optional parts. More value!
You bet, all kinds of cool stuff coming from R2 these days. Boxes stuffed to the top.
I love these frist responder models more please
i really enjoy your review and build videos. watched almost every one and picked up a boatload of tips. thanks for the effort you put into your posts.
Thank you George!

Nice. I had a 73 Chevy van like this one. 307 ci gas guzzler. 8mpg...lol..Awesome built.
Thanks!
i have the red rescue one from a few yrs back , but i would still pick up one of these! love your workflow as always
Thanks guy!
Great review and Build. I like that blue.
They need to re-scale the rear bumper and redesign the wipers.
Those were a bit off to be honest, but it's still a winner of a kit.
Awesome kit Chris, That's some rear bumper huh!? Very cool thanks buddy!
You don't want to bump into that for sure!
Cool! I just grabbed that kit today. I can't wait to build it. I may just leave the cargo area empty since the items can't be seen.
True, I wanted to highlight the perp area since it came with the kit, but the parts can be saved for other projects for sure.
All of your builds look so nice, if you didn't know better you would think they were diecast.
Thanks for the compliment!
Very attractive paint combination. Once again you did a thorough kit introduction. I now know this kit is worth purchasing. Only question is whether I build it as an emergency vehicle or custom van. I suppose the smart move is to buy 2 of these vans and build both versions. Thanks, Chris!
Haha, thanks Stephen!
Wow. Beautiful job. Looks amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. Love your personal touch. Kudos
Thanks as always Darth!
Really cool build! I have an older version of this kit in the stash. I hate that AMT did the rear windows and doors the way they did, it'd be really cool to have it all opened up. Loved the build, yours looks sweet! :D
Thanks!
Great build Chris , I have a dodge fire rescue van from the 90’s
Fun! Thanks Charles!
Nice Job on the CHEVY VAN.!🤗🤗
Thanks!
Great build, Chris! That rear bumper is massive. Looks more like 1/20 scale. Otherwise sweet repop of a great old kit.
Thanks man!
Looks like a winner Chris. Thanks for sharing...
Thanks a bunch Mike!
Very cool and great job with great detail
Thanks David!
I'm a huge vanner. Right now I have a 86 chevy g20 shorty and since its my daily driver I have white letter cooper cobra front tires and cooper Discover at3 xlt all terrain tires on the rear for winter lol
Sweet!
Great looking build and nice video!
Another nicely done kit Chris, keep it up...Gary
Thanks Gary!
Hi Chris. I wish they would make more vans centerd around the 70's Custom Van era. Maybe do some reproductions of them with new tooling and an expanded decal sheet. What do you think ?
If they do I'd build them. Some airbrushed style decals for the sides and backs.
Super nice build and review as always Chris, well done!...Bill
Thank you Bill!
Another great build!
Nice build ! Congratulations ! I really apreciate ! 👍😊
Thank you Enrique!
Nice work bud awesome choice on the blue strip
Thanks Ken!
I order this kit a week ago plan on doing a ( Bellsouth) or beverage delivery van with mine
Very cool, I bet there are all kinds of decals out there.
I was thinking of getting a second one and doing a Stranger Things van.

Hi James, I mention it in this video, Treehouse Studios Matte is what I use. Thanks!
Like what you did changing the stripe from white to blue.
Thanks Nick, me too!
Amt also released a rear engined Chevy drag van back in the 70s may of been 73?-wonder if the tooling servives?
Cool! If it does we'll probably see it again some day!
Wow this looks amazing. No way I could ever come close to making mine look that good. I do have a question. I thought rustoleum paint was bad for model plastic. Could you please verify. Thank you and great job

No plans to build the 78, I don't own it.
Beautiful!! I love vans.
Thank you Jefferson!
I'd have loved to see you open that up. Great video tho
Yes, the option is there to do it. Thanks!
Very cool building.
Thanks!
That looks incredible. Love watching your videos very informative and learn alot of detail skills, I was thinking about getting this kit had an idea to make the A team van from it.
From what I've been told it's the same kit, with a GMC grill.
Chris I can't figure out how t o assemble the mirrors how is it done?
Glue the tripod mirror base together and stick it to the van with some CA.
nice one , Rock onnn Chris
Robert
Thanks Robert!
This looks so neat - good job as usual.
Thank you!
Gorgeous!
Thanks Charlie!
Very nice job, beautiful!
Thanks Davi!
I'm going mine into a Ambulance , But I want to cut out the side door. Any tricks on that process?
Just keep scribing it until it pops free.
Awesome job!
Thanks!
I would like to get this but finding decals for coroner-M.E. is hard to find.
Great job Chris!
Thanks Clay!

Nice kit, lots of options with this one.
Sure is!
Okay Now I gotta go get this one too I may need a new home😱🤭🤣 lol looks great Chris keep doing what your doing brother
Just keep adding to the stash! Thanks Jeff!
This makes a great Department of Corrections prisoner transport van
Thanks for watching!
Is this basically the Chevy Rescue van kit? Just with more police items?
I don't own that one to confirm but I'm guessing they'd be quite similar.
Love it! Nice build. Where can I find silver pencil?
Any craft store will have silver pencils and silver markers.
Awesome job on this one!
Thanks Jeff!
I'm sure the original edition of that kit had opening hood. I've got the open road camper version.
Thanks for watching!

Very good work my friend~! I enjoyed your video very much.
Thank you Robert!
Super cool! Does it come with a chrome bumper for the back in case you want to build a custom? K.u.t.g.w. Chris.
Yup, I went over the parts in the beginning, a stock bumper is on the tree. Thanks!
hpiguys Workshop Sorry about that, my wife started talking to me at the beginning. I missed it. Thanks.
Is that the same van that amt used for the A- team van
From what I'm told, yes.

I love the scene in the van!
"Yamma yamma yamma yamma yamma yaaaaamma"
I love the hidden details, only the model builder can appreciate!
Nice work! Love the channel!
Thanks Willis!
thats a great job how long did it take you to paint and build it?
3 days
@@thunderbird885cc thats a nice job
I didn't do it, he just mentioned it took 3 days at the end of the video =)

Thanks Todd!
Planning on making Bob and Doug Mackenzie's van from Strange Brew
3 days thats not bad it takes me almost a week some times
Thanks Wade!
Do you have the Charlie’s angels van from the 70s? I would love to see that built! It was from Revell.
No sir, I don't have a lot of older kits.
I had the kiss van !! Believe it to be the same tooling thou..🤘
very cool kit
Thanks Eddie!
You can brush on the future?
Yup, I brush it on with a 1/2 inch soft brush.
nice 👍 police 🚔 van NYPD
Thanks Richard!
Nice Build!
Thank you Peter!
Have you ever done The Munsters family car or the drag coffin in a video
Nope, haven't done those yet.
Really neat!
Thanks!
Awesome 👏
Thanks Samuel!
This is awesome. I like it
Thanks Dirk!
I think this would be a great surf van? hippie it out with surf boards
For sure!
Gee, paint the body in flat black, No lights. Then you would have a neighborhood SWAG wagon.
Add a few small black bags for body bags.
Thanks for coming along for the FUN!
If I had a spare month, I would have drilled out the cage. LOL.
wooowww
Nice I like it. Not sure I would do one though having spent some time in the service end of one of those lol
LOL We'll play the COPS theme for ya!
I love your version better.
Thanks Craig!
It's basically the same kit than the rescue van I got my rescue van in the red mold
I'm currently building this van the red rescue van and I'm having some trouble with the front suspension with the King pins step 4 is telling me to do it one way but when I go to step five it's showing a different piece there that you would attach the rim to that's not shown in step four did you have this problem any help would be appreciated
Sweeeeeeet!
Thanks Bryan!
Mahoney and the gang 😀
Great movie!
I had the Ambulance
Cool!
Hugh! Bad boys! What you gon? What you gon? What you gonna do? What are you gonna do when they come for you? Tell me! What you gonna do? What you gonna do? Yeah! I can hear the guitar solo and the short clips of perps in the intro.
Show,,,,,,,,
Seem like tbis 1 was kinda simple
I’d have to at least cut the hood open if not also the back doors. Too much nice detail on the engine and back for it to be sealed up forever
The parts are there to open the hood, go for it!
Fools! To think they can kill the brother, of Badula!
