I love the way you choose to build and paint and how you present the kit reviews even when some may have some unwanted flaws, you choose to move forward and build through to completion. I can see why you have such an impressive viewing audience, congratulations and your "old school" my kinda guy. Thanks for everything and stay during this critical time.
it's about time MPC added better suited tires, rather than the older "Racing Only" tires in previous releases. I still enjoy this kit so i'm glad they keep releasing it.
Really good build. I love the added accessories! The white and black coats came out great. "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas." Elwood Blues when talking about a 1974 Monaco. This car comes from a magnificent predecessor.
That's what I get for making my own Twinsonic lightbars from PE and having them plated. The new parts they added are great, better late than never !!!!
Ok. I looked it up! The Blues Mobile was a 1974 Monaco! This is a 78! Completely different body style!!! To a real Blues Brothers fan,a purest, that would be highly inappropriate!!!! Great build, and that paint job was pretty dang slick! Thank you,and happy new years
I love your channel, it seems every time I want to buy a new kit, I look it up on here and your videos are always first to pop up! You’re the best man 🤙
I may need a case of these! I've built a few Monacos in the past and love these kits. If you want a better chassis you can use the one from the older AMT Plymouth Road Runner/ GTX and Dodge Coronet.
Nearly ten years ago,I built a fictional Texas sheriff's car from an older version of the same kit. It was the AMT® BATMAN™ Joker Goon Squad/Gotham City Police Car kit. To make the taillights look more like the actual Dodge Monaco taillights(the ones in the kit look more like they were from a Dodge Coronet or Plymouth Fury),I covered them with Bare Metal Chrome Foil, painted them with Testors Taillight Red and Amber Turn Signal paints, let them dry and finished them with hand-painted chrome silver stripes.
Bear was also the ONLY one to ever draw (draw down) his fire arm on the show...once during the rolling casino (shot gun) and twice on Danny Bonaduce (once in real time, once in flash back) when Danny attacked Bear with the bo (and flash back the staff)......o.k, I watched too much t.v. back then.
That tamiya orange makes it so much more realistic. Awesome.. I’m making the same model right now and am going to add a little cage fence in the backseats, maybe windows too👻
Cop motor, 440 cubic inch plant, cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks, model made before catalytic converts and will run good on regular gas! Where is the speaker Elwood? lol. I still have a couple of Joker Goon car kits in my stash. Great build.
thanx again chris, I have done a couple of police vehicles, my best was the '57 fprd fairlane wagon, whic isan awesome kit, and it turned out fantastic! by the way.....HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours, hope this year we can see even more of your great kit builds!
Hello, very nice build. That kit has many options as you mentioned. I can see it as a family sedan or a Police car with aftermarket decals like the ones I have stashed away. Fire DOT, Taxi and so many more. So many decals available on line. I can see myself buying several. Thank you again Like your quick builds they come out great.
I've been enjoying your videos! Even though I have not put a model together in 25 years, I have learned so much in such a short time from you! I'm glad to see the narrow wheels and tires in this kit. The wide wheels in the original kit annoyed me, it made the car look more like a dirt track car than a street sedan. I still have the Joker Car when it first came out in 1989, I made mine into as a primered up beater!
My police department here in New York bought these Dodges and found them to be quite fast. In a straight roadway. They were later replaced by Ford Crown Vics which were more reliable and the ‘police package made them handle like race cars. I retired just before Ford stopped making them and they were replaced by SUVs.
Another excellent build, BRAVO!!! I also loved all the info you provided on this car, I love all law enforcement builds. You and your channel are aces, thanks!!!

Everybody used that car back in the day. A-team, Dukes of Hazzard, C.H.I.P.S., and I built the T.J. Hooker and Ghostbuster NYPD cruiser. Great vid bud. HAPPY NEW YEAR, and Build on Brother....😎
The movie people went to Sacramento and got a lot of them from the auction, which oddly enough they had to repaint them black and white again because the CHP had REALLY cheap paint applied for auction, regular reds, blues, white, green etc.
As a trucker, Chips has a special meaning lol but Chris, you have outdone yourself on this build police cars are not easy to build and you did this justice no punn intended lol, this would look great on a diaroma behind my truck model, be blessed and happy new year.

Chris, love your build of the 78 Dodge CHP police car! Excellent work! A great way to start off 2020! I've always loved the older big bodied police cars since seeing them as a kid! Must grab this release!
Another winner Chris! This model would look cool with the chassis from any of the AMT pro-street Mopar kits! Thanks for the review and wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!
I have several of these in un built condition when they were issued as the Dukes of Hazzard Sheriff, Joker "Goon Car" and the TJ Hooker issue. Now I will get a couple of these also!
Happy New Year! Just wanted to say how wonderful your videos and modeling work are. I really like your technique of using rattle cans for the bulk painting, then detailing as needed with finer tools. Your finished creations are cool to admire after the assembly work. 👍

The Black guys name was Jed on CHIPS Bear was Barry Barikza.
Jebediah Turner was played by Michael Dorn, Trekkies know him better as Lt. Worf.
Yeah, I made a booboo and swapped the guys.

For the black recess in grilles, I use a ultra fine point black marker. The tip fits right into the recesses and does not have to be wiped.

The Legged One yeah ive been wanting one i built the bluesmobile out of the joker version because it was the closest thing ofcourse
