Well done it’s nice to see young people interested in cars I grew up with and worked on when I left school.thank you for keeping these old cars alive.

Well , this popped up from nowhere ! Brilliant ! You are very lucky to have Tom to "help" . My goodness he's saved you a fortune ! It's wonderful that so many people have found some rare and vital parts. I think "Willamenia" would suit better than "Maggie" 😂😂 . I can remember a friend bought a cheap 1100 , he pulled away and the front bottom from the doors forward started pulling away ! I Could see his feet through the gap ! He put the car on a ramp , got some lengths of dexion ( angled metal with holes for making shelves ) and bolted them from the front subframe to the rear to stop the car breaking in half ! They really were awful cars for rust. And we were in the garage trade !! Thanks for sharing . Now where's part 2?

My first car. Dad gave me one in the late 70s after I turned 17. Told me if I could get her through an MOT she'd be mine. I spent 8 months on and off going over the entire car including a respray in Trafalgar Blue. It passed its MOT before I passed my driving test so my Mum used it as a commuter until she ran into the back of a tipper truck and I never saw the car again :-(

I've just finished a Morris 1300 project that I also bought in 2018, and have just last month finished and got street legal again with a new WOF(MOT for all the UK readers)
A chum of mine came out every Sunday for two years, to fix various things, one of which, was a rusted-out RF wing! Amazing.
Lovely car. You have inspired me to make a similar video of my project!

I can remember my best friend's dad in primary school owning one, and it wasn't a common car to see even then. It was a magnificent burgundy colour. As if to go even more left field, he replaced it with a Wartburg. She is a little beauty, and I'm sure you'll do a great job of getting her just so.

I owned one of these cars it was a nice little car but I had to scrap it because of rust which was a common problem , we never had the expertise them days to restore body work like we have today , well done 👍, unfortunately I've owned all sorts of cars from a Moggy 1000 , to Hillman husky , Victor 101 , Mk1 Cortina , MK 5 Cortina , 3 Minis , a three littre Worley six cylinder, Escort estate , A Lada , A 35 van , a Ford Corsair , Fiesta , a Skoda , vw Passat, Ford Granada , a Ford Transit Mk 1 camper Van , an Almera , a new K A , and a Volvo Estate , I'm sure I've missed a few out , imagine if I'd have kept them , I'd have had my own little scrap yard 🤣😂😅😘 oh and I've also had nearly as many Motorbikes .

What's the spec of your metro? My mate had a first edition mk1 mini-metro and it was a brilliant little motor, 3 wayward brothers all learned and passed their tests in it and even though it got an absolute thrashing from birth it took it with no problem!

I realised I sounded like a sexist git but it really is nice to know some girls are into cars, particularly the less usual stuff!
Cool that you also have the early mini-metro model, they're pretty rare now! I always
I always fancied a 1.3S model particularly in that mossy green colour with multi hues of green decorating the centre panels of the seats. Very scarce now I'd imagine. I keep glancing over Ebay now and then for something preferably BL, I'd love a 1.7 Ital SLX estate but I don't think there's any left! A Metro would be cool too but it'd have to have the 'flat' mk1 front lights and grill as per the model you have.

i'm hoping to pull the gearbox out of Wallace (1955 Wolseley 6/90), this coming week, he's been languishing in the shed for 4 years following a full mechanical restoration, if adjusted as per the manual i had gears one to four but it wasn't going into reverse properly (had the issue for years).
i have cross-shafts & bronze shifter forks from one gearbox and a serviceable layshaft from a 2nd, so should be able to get ALL gears on the overdrive gearbox in the series one when i rebuild that gearbox (again).
