- Suzie brought the 2002 tii to the Shed and it made Ivan reminisce about the 2002s he'd owned, repaired and raced in the past.
Thanks to Zac for filming our outing to the pub.
And Noel Skeats for the professional picture we slipped in there.
Ivan You will never run out of interesting stories to tell !! Us old guys enjoy every minute!! Cheers from Alberta Canada !
Haven't even started watching and I'm so excited as I'm a little obsessed with 2002's and own 3 currently. Thanks Ivan!
I AM SMILING EAR TO EAR love all your videos thank you both Team Shed Racing.
Good video. Young lady-I go back to 1962🙂-you appear to do an excellent job of keeping Ivan out of mischief for several hours a month😁, in addition to your superb video work.
Thanks again, Suzy is so sharp, remembers everything.
i have a 1602 with a tii engine and 5 speed box running 45 webers owned for 24 years just cant part with it its so much fun to drive. Great film Ivan!
I owned a 1974 tii back in the early 90s, one of my most favourite cars.
I've always had a soft spot for the 2002. Lovely little cars!
Thank you Ivan and Suzie! Love those old Beemers, brings back memories! That one is lovely. We surely would like to hear about your Formula days in the early 1970's, very competitive classes. It's nice to see the Hochkraeusen Racing pennant on your bookcase too!
I grew up in the caribbean Commonwealth. My neighbor's daughter was an international flight attendant. Who was tall, beautiful, and glamorous. However, the thing that made her stand out the most was her bright orange BMW 2002 tii bought new. She would wring the neck out of that car and often make handbrake turns into the driveway.
She joked to my father, who was in-law enforcement, that his guys needed better equipment if they ever hoped to catch her in order to issue a ticket. When she got married in 1978 and started having children , she gave up the BMW for a....Beige Ford Cortina Estate 😢
very interesting video - i love the captions correcting all the details they make me laugh!
Brilliant stuff Ivan and Suzie, you folk are living the life with all this car stuff, way to go kids. That BMW has been around just a year longer than the boss and I have been married, hope it's still having as much fun as we have.🎉
Brilliant video with Ivan recalling his racing history. Keep them coming, Ivan.
My ‘76 Tii was my first”posh” car in 1980. Chamonix white PYL 938R iirc. Went to Switzerland in it for a holiday and made the journey a breeze.
Didn’t matter how easy or fast I drove it just did 27 mpg !
Hello Ivan, What a delight to see your videos as always. I note your BMW has a Gloucestershire number so might possibly have been supplied new by Wild Goose Motors of Dursley. I used to work nearby in 1972 to 1974 so could easily have gazed through the window at it when brand new. I couldn’t afford one as I had my new Capri but the local Doctor had a new Tii and impressed everybody because she could afford it and few others ever could! Enjoy it well…that looks a very sound car! Richard😃😃😃😃
keep all this coming Ivan and Suzy
The BMW's that looked like that, were the ones I fell in love with. They did it All. You could drive all day, and rally race, and use it to go to work all week. Not the plastic junk we've had since.Thank you for saving these, and sharing them with us, along with the stories they earned with the drivers.
Lovely little video!
I must have owned close to a dozen bmws over the years. Loved them all. e28s e34s an e36a couple 320i's came first. They all had a smell, feel and always seemed to be built to handle much more power than they had. Wonderful dailies.
Love the banter between you you and Susie long May you both rain. Makes my wife and I laugh,as she says one nice lady and a rough old east end boy .👏👏👏👏👍🇦🇺
Ivan is a proud West Londoner!
I restored a 2002 that family friends had given me back in the 90's. Cracking little car, finished in the quite rare Ceylon Gold. Wish I'd never sold it but was then later tempted by a Volvo Amazon GT so it was sold.
WHY is Ivan so engaging! It’s always a blast to watch. (And young Suzy is such a “bad” influence!)
Some nice motors there Ivan. Keep up the good work.
2002s and even the 1600s, were really great cars. Had a couple, and enjoyed them. missed a great opportunity in 2001, to get a good one reasonable, Damn it!
'73 same as me too Suzie! You bought a lovely car.
Best wishes, Dean.
Hello Suzie and Ivan! Wow the "B" MW 2002 was a great video and brought back my own fond memories. In 1975 I belonged to a local Club Rally group in Hamilton Ontario and I was running a factory BL Mini 1000, with the only mod being a Stebro exhaust! There was a young chap (Roman) used to borrow his mother's 2002 to thrash it around the country roads, usually night rallying. Well this fellow was a looney and he had all the mods, Koni's, Marschal lights and he absolutely drove the thing like a pro. He ended up our club hero for his likeable character and his antics. Thanks ever-so-much for a lovely video, and you certainly have a fine example of the timeless marque. Cheers from Canada, Paul.🤓
Second childhood. Simply wonderful!
Another fascinating video, Ivan. And wow, Suzie is amazing! What a team!
Another great video. I too raced formula ford in 1973, but was no bloody good.
Had a 76. Great car. Sold it in 83. So long ago. Drove it like a loony. Thanks Ivan.
My father classic raced a 1973 BMW 2002 tii. As I'm an Alfa fan I was amazed how completely rust free it was. It also turned out to be very reliable. Just needed an oil cooler. I found it fast and very capable, but didn't grab me like my Alfas did, but my father still talks fondly of it
Wow Ivan and suzy always wanted a 2002 , thanks for all the episodes
We left England in 1968 when I was 10. We'd had a Mini at the time, bought new via employee discount as a couple of my aunts worked in Castle Bromwich. Prior to that though we'd had an Imp. It was bought used but the car couldn't have been more than a year old. I didn't know anything about anything at that time and I don't recall it ever breaking down but the impression left on me is that my parents never fully trusted it. The rear window latch WAS particularly random and had a mind of its own.
I was going to conjecture that I recall mention of the transmission but . . . that might be nuanced. My mom, to a degree, learnt to drive in the Imp. Teaching is a skill. A skill my dad never ever approached mastering. That "You're breaking the car Samir" video comes to mind. On reflection I bet my 'stick in the mud' dad wasn't keen on her having a driver's license. She signed up for professional lessons and did it anyway. Then bought an old Ford Prefect. Good for her!
One of the cars I had and wish I’d kept. Very refined.
Lovely, might add to the want list!
Great video this week Suzi and Ivan! I look forward to that Formula Ford gentleman coming to the shed and hope he is going to talk on camera with you. That will be really interesting to watch!
Absolutely wonderful
I worked in a BMW dealership for 20+ years back in the 70's 80'sthe Tii was one of the best cars they made.
So nice. I have a ‘73 tii too. About 160hp with stock k’fischer. Custom pistons and rods, mild cam, exhaust. Bilsteins and slightly lower. Perfect every day car. I also have a 5 speed from the 320 that followed the 2002.
I also fitted one of those new warm up regulators
that's is a knockout car , love the fact Suzy got her money out faster than Ivan and brought it haha
Dear Ivan, I just watched another TH-camr, Tasty Classics, take an Audi TT he picked up for 250 quid to the Nurburgring. A bog standard car and he was overtaking 911s...I thought he did amazingly well. Please watch and let us know what you thought of his driving. i think you would love it. He is a wonderful chap and will soon be a big channel. Not as wonderful as you of course. Please watch .
I await with anticipation for the great Ivan Dutton, saloon car champion, to offer his valued opinion.
Love the 2002. I had a 2000Lux in around 1980 which had wonderful front end styling on an otherwise similar small saloon body and similar/same engine and running gear ( I think() to the 2002s.
It's funny, my brother bought a near new e12 520i that had the same engine fitted with Kugleficsher injection, fast car in its day but if it didn't start straight away it always wet it's plugs, the tow car of choice (dad's car) was a Mk1 3000E capri that never failed to start!
I remember my brother test driving a 2002 turbo at a local used car dealer, think it was around £3000 in 1976.
Much further than Watford - beyond the edge of civilisation!
Wish I had a 'Suzie'...
I love your stories.
Sounds nice! Go to the pub!
My first car was a 20 year old 1973 2002 in Taiga green, brings back memories.
11:02 You all could have also done all the same reading on the 02FAQ itself. But you got it all in the end either way~
I am so glad you did make this viddy, was really hoping you would. And yeah, they REALLY do go through the fuel with dual Webers. Those DCOEs sound so good though, wouldn't trade 'em for anything.
Great stuff Ivan, love your stories from past motorsport events. I don’t have a lot of love for modern BMWs , call it an image thing , whatever. Years ago 1970s- early 1980s , on the other hand had huge respect for them . More compact cars in those days ( like all manufacturers I suppose) , but the quality of the build , despite being so much simpler , was clearly evident. Only drove one 2002 tii , gearbox was a nice change but the ratios seemed quite wide between gears compared to the Ford Escort Mexico MK1 , I owned previously, and the various Italian cars I had later in my driving years. Engine, absolutely turbine smooth for a 4 cylinder unit though. The later 320i cars were not quite so powerful , 125bhp compared to 130bhp of the Tii , and a bit heavier which , although went up a stage in specification , somehow diluted the performance. BMW later introduced the 323i though to add more flavour. Nice vid
Penguin Motors have a lovely Race car 2002..
When I started this video there were 36 👍. 20 minutes later 150.
BRILLIANT (Again(.
What an absolute peach.
I did in fact see you driving down the M6 and in a rather careful manner. It must have been on your return trip from the Wirral in the 2002. Good luck! Hope all goes well with it...
Had 2 in the late 70s great cars..put a weber on the 2nd,can't remember why i sold them...getting to that age!!
Yup Ive, the north coast of Great Britian (now I am showing my age) starts at Watford. Nothing more to see 'cept Shetland! L&Bw from the Forest of Blackness.
There was a 2002 for sale a couple years ago at a small used car dealer near me , I knew I should've bought it , but you know me .
A real beauty. Keeping it stock ?
I was wondering what Ivan thought of the BMW minis? I have a 2006 and love it.
watch this space....Ivan has a 2008 Mini and just today we were talking about featuring it on Shed Racing, alongside the '59 Minis
Ha! I also have a 2003 and 2008 along with my 1960.
Miss my '72 every day. My mechanic gave me hell for replacing the original BMW carb with a Weber.
What a lovely Tii. Is it in Old English White, Ivan?
Chamonix White
@@suziepilkington5600in the 7os I learned on these cars until I became a motor vehicle master.I
own also a chamonix 2002 but with 45 dcoe Webers under the hood .
😉
@@suziepilkington5600 Thank you Suzie.
Old English white on a BMW???
A car with a hole in the roof always leaks!
👍🇦🇺
A Hillma Nimp.
My god she’s a minter👍
There's no wear on the pedals!
Never liked working on them. Mostly it was the customers . Now I would not mind having one
Ivan ... !
You drove your Morgan to Oulton but were shy to drive to the Wirral ?
Come on.
You softy Southerners 😅😅
Very good point - I think he makes exceptions for race tracks he has visited in the past
I don't know but I suspect Suzi might be a petrol head
Japan copied the 2002 formula with the Datsun 510.
The London Connection 1979 is available on YT. The comments are amusing.

I worked as a stunt driving double on this! The Morgan was a right pain to drive, also made tracking shots difficult! That was also me in the recovery truck!
