I heard this song on the radio in my mother's car at 2004. Then there wasn't internet anywhere near me and noone knew the name of the song, to tell me. But a small part of it was stuck in my head for all these years. I wondered many times about the name of the song. I even thought I made the melody up at some point. That proves well that you don't need to understand the lyrics to feel the emotion of a song and that there is, therefore, no reason for all the countries to sing in English.
As a linguiste I can tell that words are only tools to mean something. The communication is a larger science that includes any gestures etc. (They are more powerful then words when it comes to communication). Here in Eurovision, its the songs and singers that make a winner, lyrics are sometimes important too( 1944 Ukraine)

Well, I think that the fact that so few comments here state this is no coincidence. I do believe that Belgium had the best song of 2003 (a very strong year anyway) and the presentation was at least decent BUT Turkey had one of the most deserved winners ever. Sertab actually changed the flow of Eurovision history. And she changed it to something I really adored so I'm almost happy about my favorite song not winning. Yes Sanomi is great music for me, as this new age ethnic really touches me and I find the concept of no real language lyrics absolutely brilliant. But excellence around this field had already shined bright in the 90s. Norway 1995 & 1996, Ireland 1996, Sweden 1996 had given us much to love. 2003 was the ethnic bob dance-show spectacle's time to shine and it rightfully did so. Yet, Belgium 2003 is the strongest and fairest runner-up of the century so far.
For anyone who really likes this song and is still listening in 2021, I highly recommend you to listen to their the album this is on, Kerua. It's great music.
I loved it, but didn't expect others to. Then, what do you know, it was in winning contention all the way throughout! That hardly ever happens with me. It was heartbreaking when its seemingly comfortable lead was sunk at the last second. This is very special, evocative and moving; it definitely deserved to win.
I feel very sad when I see Turks in the comments who are unfair to this song. I am also a Turk and I love this song. Not everyone may like it, but they should be respectful. Belgium also voted for Turkey and there was a 2 point difference between Belgium and Türkiye. So there is no need to engage in unnecessary nationalism. Both songs were very beautiful.

+Doğan Güneş If we had given it 12 points, we would have lost the first place. Are you sure ?
+hukuk2004 He can do whatever he wants. :)
Very funny Belgium gave 12points to Turkey as Turkey only gave us 4points ??????

I am still in love with this masterpiece and it should have won the Eurovision song contest
For me Turkey was a deserving winner, but Belgium also have a good song, second place was fair in my opinion
U r right.Absolutely Turkey deserved it. Also this song touches my soul ,love it
@@ceterisparibus1619 that is so very nice to read
Belgium missed the win with one point. Turkey was okay, but this song was far better for me.
It's called a conlang. And honestly this is amazing just for bringing a conlang to a huge stage.
Very catchy song that goes straight to the heart to stay forever
One of my favorite Eurovision songs ever! Should have won. Very original!
Spirit of Eurovision!
As a Turk, this should won in 2003. Our country is my winner in 1975, 1997 and 2010 lol.
Sertap Erener ♥️🇹🇷
Kadir Işık 💜
The band called Urban Trad .. lol
Belgium and Russia that year are like a battle between fantasy and science-fiction :D

Looking at all the second places in Eurovision. This one is a stand-out. Beautiful.
beautiful! ahh those galician sounds...
This song is so magical, like it takes you to another world
Lol listening to this in 2021 too?
@@sherwinfavored5208 Yep
To this music I meditate. This is the best thing that could have happened at Eurovision🔵
I am still listening in 2020.
2021❤🇬🇷🇩🇪🇱🇹🤲🏻
This is the true winner that year for those who appreciate good music. Still a stunning listen.
Ağlaaaaaa
Turkey won because deserved it
Well, I think that the fact that so few comments here state this is no coincidence.

The real winner of ESC 2003 (for me)
yes it is your opinion but real winner is Sertab Erener from Turkey❤️
@@user-ug3xv7wc6b I guess everyone has the right to have his or her opinion, or not?
I agree, this was my favourite that year and still today.
100% , Belgium was more Unique then Turkey ..
For me Sertab from Turkey was better and I'm grateful and happy that she won, but Belgium had undoubtedly and iconic song
I want to fall down from very tall skyscraper listening to this song (with the safe end of course). Just an unearthly magic!
For anyone who really likes this song and is still listening in 2021, I highly recommend you to listen to their the album this is on, Kerua. It's great music.
Deserved the winning. Simple, unique beautiful.
I loved it, but didn't expect others to. Then, what do you know, it was in winning contention all the way throughout! That hardly ever happens with me. It was heartbreaking when its seemingly comfortable lead was sunk at the last second. This is very special, evocative and moving; it definitely deserved to win.
I do not agree sertab is gooder than urban trad in eurovision
Mustafa Yıldırır “gooder” ?xDD
Mustafa Yıldırır better olmasın kardeş o
They both were good and could have win and Turkey have won
I feel very sad when I see Turks in the comments who are unfair to this song. I am also a Turk and I love this song. Not everyone may like it, but they should be respectful. Belgium also voted for Turkey and there was a 2 point difference between Belgium and Türkiye. So there is no need to engage in unnecessary nationalism. Both songs were very beautiful.
I love this sound and the atmosphere being created, but I always get the unavoidable uneasy feeling I'm being conned by an April Fool.
This song is up to the standards of first place Norway (1995) and Ireland (1996). Beautiful accoustic!
Belgium, I just have something to say.
SEND URBAN TRAD AGAIN AND STOP EXPERIMENTING.
It sounds like something I might find at a Greenpeace rally.
They're speaking the language of gods
I always thought this song was in Flemish language. And here a surprise! This song is in an artificial language.
i see something beautiful on this song❤Belgium true winner!
Gerçek kazanan Sertab erener 🇹🇷

...wonderfully ! my Favourite!
amazing.
A dream. It´s seems like a mystery.
I remember they really came out of left field. Nobody thought they would do this well before the show. Then that night, it was magical I will never forget ❤
Love 💓 this song so much
Excellent song.
Still listening to it in 2022 🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪 The real winner of 2003
Een van mijn favorieten uit de historie van het songfestival.
Prachtig, helaas net niet gewonnen..
Dick uut Zwolle
Both Turkey and Belgium's performances were great in 2003. But Turkey won by the skin of one's teeth. Belgium also is the winner in my opinion. Love from Turkey.
I never can forget this song . They should have won really unfair
Aimar Sulevany Turkish one deserved, in my opinion btw.

So beautiful ... I remember this song pretty well, I saw it in TV when I was 11 years old and I was totally in love with it. So genius. It was one of the best songs for me back then ... Totally deserven the second place.
It derseved to win!
Ggdivhjkjl No it wasn’t. This song is cool and nice but Turkish one was better.
