  • I finally had justifiable cause to purchase a brushless sawzall that I have been needing for some time. It todays video I will do an initial review, and demonstrate some cuts through angle iron and tube steel.

    Excellent video, good info, good sound quality, clear explanations, no idiotic verbal tics and cliches. I just ordered one of these. I didn't get the kit, just the 'tool only' as I already have a bunch of Makita cordless tools so I have plenty of batteries and 2 chargers. In fact, my last Makita purchase was to get a couple of their 6.0Ah batteries; already had a bunch of 5.0Ahs and was looking for even longer run time. The 6.0Ah batteries should be excellent with this particular saw. Lastly, I was pleased to see that the video touched on the important details of stuff that a new owner would want to know. For instance I now know the specifics of their blade install system and that the guard can be adjusted and how, and I don't even have the saw yet. :-) I also like the way Makita has combined variable speed with a 2 speed design so you can get variable speed in each speed, with the high speed giving you a higher top end.

    I watched a lot of videos were guys are testing new saws! when it comes to cutting metal I’ve never see anyone using cutting oil.
    The other day I was cutting some galvanized tubing. I make sure I have my cutting oil and made the job easier. Anyone reading this comment try cutting oil on your next project on metal.

      I get the cutting oil argument, however I don’t use it for drilling or sawing. Reason being, is that it usually starts smoking and you end up inhaling that smoke. I value my lungs over the longevity of the blades. As for the drill bits, they are easy to sharpen. I have an instructional video on this.

      You must be using the wrong oil.

    My basement flooded over the weekend. My Makita sawzall was completely submerged under 6" of water for 24 hours. Amazingly, the tool still works! If it does fail at some point, I will updated this post. This is just reassurance I went with a great brand.

    I bought this today, tried to cut a 40mm by 30mm steel tubing with 2.5mm thickness and it was VERY HARD. Was the material too thick for it or is there a certain technique? Also, it burred and made the included metal blade useless after managing to cut just one tubing.

      Cutting oil will keep things cooler and lubricated.

    Is the play in the blade normal? Mine rotates around the cylinder hole a tiny bit, so it's not as tight as, say a jigsaw blade. Just wanted to check if that's normal to these saws?

    • @OldSoulMillennial
      @OldSoulMillennial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is normal. My makita jigsaw blade tightens down with an Allen set screw, so there is literally no play in the blade. On this sawzall, there is a pin that inserts through the hole in the blade. So there will be a very small amount of play. The sawzall isn't really a perfect precision tool

    This was exactly what I needed! Thank you!
    The other videos on this saw all seem to be sales videos. This video included the key how to and feature demos that I needed.

    I think the brushless is just an EPA thing with carbon emissions.
