Thank you soooooo much, I have a lot of makita tools and use them a lot every day at work, I had 2 different battery versions of the small underpowered saws, went from the12volt to the 18 volt hoping it would make a difference, I was wrong. I was worried that the new one was also underpowered, you more than proved that the new saw has power, gona order one right now, thanks, Jon Olimb Chicago/Elgin, Illinois USA, , , ,😀
Hi Jon thanks for reaching out my friend!, enjoy your new recip saw it’s an awesome bit of kit,you know it’s a good tool when you’ve used it for ages and you still go wow this is awesome, thanks for watching and thanks for your support 🤟🤟
Cheers sir hope you didn’t mind, what’s spooky is today I was going to do a video about 14.v makita battery’s but you beat me to it!! Great minds think alike (or you have the great mind and my mind is always playing catch up! 🤪)I tryd emailing makita uk about new tool release dates or even the chance of borrowing the new releases to review but they just sent me a robotic reply that said they wouldn’t have anything to do with me!!, iv reached out to a couple of the big online makita sellers to try and find out release dates on new tools but same again got no where! I kinda guessed this recip saw must be coming out soon so I just had to watch out for it popping up for sale online!, im currently watching out for the pruner and the 3” cut off tool!, don’t worry my friend your still the no1 makita reviewer in the world I’m just trying to snap at your ankles like a small teal coloured dog!!! 🤟🤟
Nice 3 part review/comparison, John you're able to change the blade round the other way, if you wish to get more angle with the foot, not the best solution maybe but does the job nethertheless.
Hi Jon, you mentioned anti vibration technology. The bridging below the trigger from motor house to battery transport will actually help distribute the vibration better. The goal is to eliminate it as much as possible right. I've tried all the big brands and I can without a doubt say makita has the smoothest and most reliable tools in a number of categories. Full size sawzalls included. I'll test this one handed out later this week but I fully expect makita to bring the same ease of use.
Oh wow thanks for sharing my friend and I think your spot on! I should have mentioned that in the video, im still constantly impressed with this recip saw!!! It’s a beast!!! Thanks for watching and commenting 🤟🤟
Nice one Jon! You got one already! Apparently there’s a counter weight built in to help with the vibes, but I agree with you, they could do a lot more. ✌️😊🤙
Get both Alen! They are very different machines, I suppose it depends what kind of work you need it for!, if you do allot of demolition or house remodelling the 187 would be ideal buuut if you need a recip for fiddly spaces or to use one handed the 189 will do you right!,thanks for commenting dude 🤟🤟
Thanks John! Excellent review! I’m buying one now based off your review. I’ve never liked the two handed recip saws but recently used a Milwaukee single hand version similar to this. It was great but I think Milwaukee are highly overrated (mostly due to reliability ). I work on an iron ore mine in Western Australia and we use Milwaukee at work. Their battery design is flawed. They can’t deal well with abrasive dust which makes the batteries hard to remove with their two squeeze buttons, but the fatal floor is they don’t have the rubber dampers like Makita. My 3/4” rattle gun failed because the vibration makes the battery terminals vibrate and they eventually arc erode away until it won’t run. I still have some Panasonic tools which I like but I decided to go with Makita for all my home tools. Similar range to Milwaukee but they seem to place a higher value on ergonomics and long term durability than Milwaukee. Smart choice and great video. The football in the background gives your review, authenticity, money can’t buy. Respect brother!✊
So sorry for the late reply my friend,no excuse it’s guys like you that keep me making videos, I hope you can except my apology, great insight into real tool usage my friend this kind of input is invaluable and I appreciate it greatly, stoked your on team teal now!! Glad to have you and please let me know how your getting on with your makita tools 🤟🤟
@@UKTOOLTALK Hi John. No apology needed brother. My saw has been great! I’ve been cutting hoses with it and PVC pipe so far. No more “on the piss” wonky pipe cuts after using a hacksaw for me now!😎
Yes, the goggles-thing. My brother did some work on a drywall over head. Simply putting some screws on. Something got in his eye, no emergency. Two days later, the eye did make big problems and he had to go to hospital. They had to operate a metal spark out of his eye (from a screw I think). You would laught if you see me for what nonsense I put my safety-goggles on, but I do.
This happened to me as well I was cutting some thin sheet metal with a recip saw and a small metal particle flew into my eye and had to go to the doctor to get it out. Wear your safety glasses.
Oh hi friend mmmmmm I hate cutting cast iron!! This model will do it (as long as it’s not a railway sleeper!!) i think the blade is more important, get the right one and your on a winner 🤟🤟
@@UKTOOLTALK hahaha thanks so much . ..i think this is a much safer option than an angle grinder. im a plumber, and iv bought this recip.im yet to try on cast iron but i know it will be ok as i have the smaller version of this and it is powerful. thank you
How wobbly is the blade? I bought a £20 Makita knock-off that looks similar which has been great for work cutting plastic pipe. Only issue is it's a bit wobbly on the blade, so tricky to get a straight cut.
Oh hi friend, in my opinion there is always a little wobble in recip blades especially if the blade is quite long, it seems the worst when just starting a cut tho, this recip has a very good multi speed trigger so you can start really slow and then build up, its really good with hardly any wobble, is there any play in the shaft which comes from the motor?, on the makita there is no play at all and is a really good bit of kit!, hope this has been some help sir 🤟🤟
Oh hi friend great comment!!, are you trying to start a new thread? Is it going to be a debate about whether or not I’m drunk?, I love it that instead of asking me if I was drunk while filming this video you decided to ask other viewers who watch the video!!, how many responds will you get?
