So fun fact about sif: if you do the DLC before fighting sif, there is actually an alternate cutscene where they recognize you but still choses to fight you. It's incredibly bittersweet
What? No way! That's such a hidden secret no one knows! That's crazy! What other secrets do you know? Next you'll say Gwyn is the final boss or something!

I wish Velkas actually carried on throughout the games, I wish especially that it made it to ds3 because it probably would've gotten a custom weapon art :')
@@sariuswasstolenalreadyI was super ready to "um, actually" you but I looked it up and you're absolutely right, it ain't in DS3. I've played so much of the Cinders mod that I completely forgot that Velka's Rapier is in fact not the item next to the Statue of Velka in Undead Settlement in normal DS3. Shame, really.
Thank you for putting the music credits in the description, not enough people do that, and it helps a lot for people who get stuck on trying to remember a song name, or listen to some new music. Great video buddy, hope alls well
Velka's Rapier is an underrated gem for Intelligence builds. First of all it's a Magic weapon that upgrades with Twinkling Titanite, given how stupidly difficult Blue Titanite Slabs are to get outside of the two guaranteed ones this is a good thing (even then one of those is a bitch to obtain). Plus it allows you to max it out once you reach the Giant Blacksmith in Annor Londo if you don't go out of your way to get a +15 Standard weapon, so you can have a pretty potent weapon as well. It's also actually a pretty good choice for an Occult weapon only behind Daggers. If you're confused by what I mean, what do these 4 enemies/bosses have in common aside from taking more damage from Occult weapons? 1. Gwyn, Lord of Cinder 2. Silver Knights 3. Black Knights 4. Paladin Leroy If you said that they could be parried and reposted then you'd be correct, combine that with it being a Rapier, a weapon class with a higher innate critical modifier that's only second to Daggers, and you have a solid weapon for Annor Londo after making a quick pit stop in the Painted World for the weapon, which can easily be done before you encounter a single Silver Knight and only a few Black Knights. This also applies to the other Thrusting Swords as well for a Faith build, an Occult Estoc or Raiper will be a pretty good choice to use over Divine.
I recently played the Prepare to Die Again mod (which rearranges a lot of stuff in the game), and it really made me appreciate Velka's rapier a lot more. The mod lets you visit the Painted World way earlier than in vanilla, so I was able to get it before I could even find the green shards needed to get a Magic weapon. Normally I ignore it because by the time you can reach the Painted World you aren't far off from getting the Moonlight Greatsword.
To help you with chunks farming: in the great hollow there are 2 titanite chunks and 9 crystal lizards (probability to get additional chunks and slabs). Also in Sens fortress you can kill the 3 giants for 3 extra titanite chunks. Awesome run keep it up!

Underrated?? I think I did this like my second playthrough. Being able to poke while your shield is up is unironically good. Counter damage is OP too. Scythes though, yeah, people sleep on the scythes.
Holy shit, that Knocking sound sent me on flight or fight mode. I was wearing headphones and my house door is very close to my PC on my right side. That one got me good. Very nice video bth
I still remember way back in the day thinking "what if linking the flame isn't the right option? What if following Gwyn's idea isn't correct? I mean look at him, he's only getting weaker" and for that to actually be where the series went is insanely cool to me. Excellent video btw, new here and I'm subbing to a fellow Aussie
I agree, I really like how it's setup throughout the game that frampt is the right way to go, but with enough game knowledge and experience you might realize the four kings aren't blocked by a gold fogwall, and then kaathe actually tells you the Truth. It's really cool to me when games have faith in their players to try and understand the game instead of just finish it
as soon as the music started playing i knew this was gonna be good. i would like to say that your choice in the music for the intro was amazing, not only is it a banger, but its the theme song for Mistral from mgrr, and her name comes from the strong, cold, northwesterly wind that blows from southern France. Rapiers are famously seen as Spanish, Italian, or FRENCH weapons. so props to the appropriate music choice! also is this run a jojo reference?
I'm actually curious if you're planning to do any Ds2 runs, as the joke about the game's unique weaponry is very much true. I'd love to see some challenge runs based on weapons like the Disc Chime, or on the different classes of spells.
disc chime is honestly such a cool weapon, I wish it carried over to elden ring and whatnot. Probably at some point I'll end up doing some sort of new game to new game 7 run with the nil blade and see how fast I can go, or maybe the puzzled stone sword
Maybe it should say beating the game with what the game classifies as thrusting swords because epee and estoc and the mail breaker are absolutely not rapiers.
I mean according to the internet an epee is just an estoc with a blunted tip, used for fencing (so a non lethal rapier) and an estoc is literally what we consider to be a rapier, considering it’s only use is thrusting. Where as the *actual* rapier apparently has an edge for slicing, which is something we never use it for.
I did a similar run a few weeks back. For me, I grabbed the estoc as soon as possible till I got the regular rapier from the merchant. Then leveled it to +5 to beat Gargoyles, Capra, Pinwheel and Gaping, grabbing a catalyst and magic weapon in the meantime. Got power within and then killed Quelaag and Ceaseless. Then for me I get the two easy Titanite Chunks from New Londo, the very large ember and then buy as many large shards as needed from the merchant in Sen's. Upgrade to +12/13 (depending on RNG with crystal lizards) and then take on Golem and O&S with Power Within and Great Magic Weapon. Then focus on getting the last chunks needed and get the slab from Stray Demon. After that, get Crystal Magic Weapon from Logan and the build is complete to melt most bosses, even do good damage to DLC bosses. The best part is no farming involved. The only real challenge is Quelaag, but with the two buffs you can still deal enough damage to survive, especially if you have 20 estus for the fight. Can also do the same thing but with faith instead of int with Sunlight Blade. Just means you have to rely more on resin for damage than magic/great magic weapon.
Yeah I considered going that whole route, the estoc with sunlight blade is stupidly good, but honestly I just wanted to rush velkas because it looks and feels really cool
