as a person who is actually experienced in pvp, what i can say about havel flip it's quite bad for pvp. Investing so much in endurance leave you with little stats for anything else, like hp, you further cut your hp by not using fap ring or motm, while Havel's armor provides a small amount of defense for its weight. On top of that getting your poise past 61 has little benefit in PvP, because of toggle escapes, while you almost never see poise more than 77 for motm+giants - a set up, that is primarily for defense, not poise
I'll add to this by dumping in my own unhealthy amount of time spent in Dark Souls PvP and say that endurance on more "meta" setups for PvP very rarely would be above 45-50 since all you gain after 40 is extra equip load and there are plenty of 32, 36, 56, or even 61 poise armor setups that aren't really challenging to fit under 25% of that equip load. Even on the rarer 77 poise setup of mask of the mother+giants you usually just accept a midroll and adjust your playstyle accordingly (midkumo is usually the most popular example).
Havel's armor pieces do see some use though individually, since something like Mask of the Mother with Havel's body, Hollow soldier waistcloth and Eastern Gauntlets reaches 56 poise which is a pretty solid amount, typically 32 or 36 poise are the most common breakpoints used so 56 is on the heavier side.
The hinting the video made at using pyromancy for offense to save equip load isn't entirely wrong, but you wouldn't necessarily be very successful with no stat investment. For PvP, pyromancy is much more reliant on having higher dexterity to speed up cast times if you want to be effective, to the point of having people who won't put 5 extra points into endurance for extra equip load be much more comfortable slipping 5 points into dex beyond the softcap to hit that 45 dex cast speed. At max cast speed things like great combustion have a lot more uses and it makes it a lot harder to just roll through and punish, or worse, just walk around and backstab, which you can quite comfortably do against low dex.
Basically, full havels would be overkill for PvP on poise, and since its defenses are lower than fully upgraded giants, in any situation where you'd be flipping in full havels, you'd be better flipping in full giants. On top of that, Mask of the Mother is simply best in slot in PvP hands down, the extra HP is just outright better than the extra defense or really almost anything else (Crown of dusk will get a special mention here to amp up pyro damage, but you'd still probably default to MotM and swap over after you get hit below the MotM bonus). FaP ring is a more complicated point since ring slots can enable things besides just defense and poise like armor slots, but generally the extra HP and Stamina are pretty hard to outperform.
it was alot stronger early in ds1 life span alot of people didnt fully understand toggle escapes or even poise for certain weapons. I both fondly and sadly remember alot of just running at people tanking there swing to hornet ring backstab them with either darkmoon or sunlight blade buffed raiper.

It is faster to talk to the man. Some runners have interact bound to their scroll wheel. When scrolling at the right the speed it is even faster. Check out TamaTama’s WR Any% run to see it in action.

"You put too much faith in the balancing of a Dark Souls game." Most quotable thing on your entire channel. I love these games, but I love my unbalanced Taker's Flame in Elden Ring more.
There never was any kind of balancing in Dark Souls. The game is cheating so to win you must cheat your build to victory, each player his own cheat, so balance was never an option.
I mean the 50% havel flip was mainly a pvp issue, but takers flame has never been good in pvp

Back in the day in vanilla DS they hadn’t nerfed the DWGR yet and the Darkroot garden was literally full of people flipping all over the place in full Havels and spamming WOTG. It’s was kind of sick, not gonna lie.

Made the whole thing a shit show but I definitely enjoyed those days in-between studying for tests because everyone knew the score so it pretty much managed to put everyone on a level playfield despite all odds 😂
It was definitely wild for sure. I don't really miss it compared to "balanced PVP" that we have now, but it would be cool to have like a lobby or something to replicate it. Kinda reminds me of Diablo 2 on release and how wildly different the best builds were before all the changes 😂

I remember back in 2014, playing DS1 PTDE on a laptop at 12 - 30 fps with DS FIX, finishing the game with havel ring. I don't remember the statistics of the armor both in DS1 and in DS2 (Never got it in ds2) would it be possible in DS2 since the armor is a "Fake"?
