Kyle decided that the next step to take in Dark Souls challenge running was to take no steps at all. (well, not counting the million backsteps I suppose). Reminds me of when I was a kid and my brother would constantly slam the controller into the wall every time he lost, until I was forced to play with a broken controller out of necessity.
They're negative steps. ;3 Dang, that sucks about controller abuse though. The very few times I've hit my controller were if it's what failed me & I'd hope that if like, some wires were crossed, it would uncross them or something. Most times it'd be my fault & I wouldn't get mad, just frustrated... Or several games just plain cheated (THAT makes me mad). But I wouldn't take that frustration out on my only way to play.
GiantDad's cousin - a different kind of intimidating. He just stands there...with a giant sword. Great to have you back! Cool to see how Stray was a brick wall for the run. Kinda wonder if the IronSkin pyromancy would've helped at all.
Now that you mention it, that might be a first for Stray Demon. O wise Lemon of the Challenge Run, can you recall any other challenges where Stray ended up being the hardest boss?
Interesting note about the soft humanity from hollows: it's not a random chance. Killing certain enemies (usually humanoid ones) in an area, while the area boss is alive, accumulates "points". Once you reach specific thresholds, you gain a soft humanity point-but it's not infinite. Each humanity costs more "human points" than the last, and you can only get a maximum of *10* in a single area. You also stop gaining points once the area boss is dead. Not all areas have this mechanic, but generally, when you see hollows, you can gain humanity from them.
There's one instance where it's actually hijacked-in the Grand Archives. When you first face Seath and take the L, the *first humanoid enemy* that you kill (usually, a crystal hollow) immediately grants you 1 point of Humanity. It's meant to offset the fact it's an intended, forced death, which strips your Human form. @@IHMyself

I figured the hardest part of this would be not accidentally walking when redirecting your backstep (by inputting the backstep, then buffering an analog input opposite of the direction you want to go before the backstep comes out), but the “no left analog stick” part removed any fear of that. Doing absurd challenges like these are such a great excuse to keep playing this game. Cheers, keep up the great work! It’s always very entertaining.

Hey there! Just thought you'd like to know, the 'soft humanity' is not bound to the enemies being Hollow. There's a hidden counter running in the background counting up with kills, and when that counter reaches a certain threshold, you gain a soft humanity. Iirc not every enemy increases this counter, but most of them do so you can theoretically farm soft humanities everywhere.
Not everywhere, only certain areas. If I'm remembering right, Painted World, New Londo, Undead Asylum, and like, one to three more I can't remember don't build up the counter.
A challenge I did really showed me the importance of dodging, strafing, and parrying. I wasn't in control of what I upgraded, I had a wheel. Whatever it landed on, I leveled. 4 levels in resistance in a row after the asylum btw... I know it's not related but loved it.
