I can remember my mom getting ready for work or to go out for the night listening to her 8 track player, always Patsy Cline. I still have all my moms 8 track tapes(patsy, loretta, kenny rogers, etc. all the old classic country singers)and a vintage 8 track player/record player/radio, I just had it rewired and the tapes still work. I was thrilled! My mom passed when I was 19, I'm now 41 and I can remember like it was yesterday(I was about 5-7) watching her get ready and singing along to Patsy and Loretta...ty for showing this memorial. Wonderful singer and great memories ❤️
My mom loved all of those singers you mentioned too! She had hundreds of country albums stacked up that she played every day! Mom also played the piano ( professionally too) but I grew up loving music, thanks to my beloved mom( I loved the Motown sound & surfer/California beach music) loving music. She loved all those singers & my mom was so much like yours Sugar! ( Wish I had some of her old albums just to remember my dear mom by!)May your beloved mother, Sugar & , “my dearly loved mom, forever REST IN PEACE!”
Rest In Peace dear Patsy Cline! Thank-you for this thoughtful, loving video showing us the sad “crash site “ & memorial! I so appreciate this video honoring her memory! My mom adored her & remember her playing her albums as a child! I love her music now! Thank-you for your very in depth video & so appreciate it! Great video honoring this extraordinary singer who is still “much loved” today, as she was then! Such a tragedy with her dying so young & so tragically! “May God Bless all the souls of those dying in this crash! “ Amen❤️
When I was a kid, right around 1972-ish we took a road trip vacation and stopped in Nashville. We went to a museum and I saw Patsy Clines lighter and lipstick case recovered from the plane crash. I still have that memory. It was so sad.
As usual, a good video. I grew up in that area, and my dad was in the Civil Air Patrol at the time. He was with the first group to locate the crash site. It must have been traumatic, because he refuses to give any details other than "it was bad."
Jaynie Nowell-Snoke , I watched a video yesterday . I can't remember the guys name , but he owns a store . He also said , he was one of the ones who was first there when they found the crash site . He goes into very descriptive details about what he saw and found . It's so sad .
There's a video on TH-cam it was the rookie police officer that first located the crash site and he goes into vivid detail of the horror that he witnessed it's still haunts his dreams !! He said one of the worst thing he seen was Patsy Cline's foot wedged in the fork of a tree , he goes on from there about the other victims and it's just sad and horrific !!
@@mike-gs4nx I turned it off. Patsy and the others deserved better respect. That was a horrible scene. Anyone who loved Patsy and still love her after all these years did not want to hear that. I understand the horror. I for one did not want to know that her foot was in a tree. I for one felt her privacy at the time of her death should have been respected and it was not. If you are an LEO you don't go blabbing un- necessary iinformation like this. I just wish he had respected Patsy in death as he did in life. I do not want to see the crash site pictures- there is no need. I appreciate blogs that take you to the crash site. You are walking down a gravel path to the actual site. The trees are green, it is quiet and what you hear is the crunching of the gravel under your feet and birds chirping. There is a boulder at the site with their names etched into the boulder. That is more respectful to her memory and the memory of the others.
I've been a fan of Patsy for as long as I can remember. This was a really thoughtful video. When you touched her name at the end, it brought tears to my eyes.💔
She was a legend!Love her music,my Dad is a huge Patsy Cline fan,he'd play her CD's and cassettes on long road trips.I must've memorized every song she sings,I then passed that love onto my daughter when she was younger!
A movie about Patsy showed her plane hitting a mountain and it seems to have stuck. The thing that gets me is these guys are standing in Camden, Tennessee and it still hasn't occurred to them there are no mountains around. lol. Her plane hit tree tops. I know a gentlemen that has a wing to the plane and Dwight Yokam (I think that is right) try to buy it from him several years back but he is leaving it to country music hall of fame when he passes. Maybe East Tennessee will donate a mountain. :)
Y'all I always thought that too , until I visited Loretta Lynn's ranch Hurricane Mills . I realized it wasn't a mountain . The tour guides explain that it wasn't too far from where Loretta Lynn's ranch was when the plane crashed . I also watched another video and this guy was one of the first men to be there when they found the plane crash . He said , they saw where the plane hit the tops of the trees and crashed down in a valley or holler . He gave some pretty descriptive details about what he saw . I never knew about all of this . The movie is miss leading , but still sad and we get the point . I live in GA . When they make movies out here , we say the same thing about things if they don't get it just right . lol ! Anyway...they will all be loved and missed . I would love to visit this place someday .
+Steve Page - no one on YT does what Dan does better. He paces his vids just right, while others swing the camara around so fast it's all just blur and hoots.
Hey Dan, I've been here before. It's very quiet and beautiful. My aunt lives in Camden on the Tennessee River. Such a beautiful little place. As always, wonderful video Dan!
My half brother's father Harley E Miller was engaged to be married to her, but after her music got going good, she broke the engagement off. Harley lived in Gore, Va.
Fun fact for yall. Randy Hughes' flying teacher was the same guy that taught country legend Jim Reeves to fly. They both ended up getting killed in the planes they were piloting.
Dottie West was another favorite C&W female artist of mine. That night In K.C. after a concert Dottie offered to ride Patsy back home with her husband, but Patsy declined wanting to get back with her children early opted to fly. 28 years later Dottie in her haste to get to a Grand Old Opry performance was in a terrible car crash. She died five days later from complications of that crash.
Great vlog. The Patsy Cline movie with Jessica Lange was great. The end when the sudden impact occurred really traumatized me. It was so instant. Very powerful. R.I.P. Patsy and her amazing band.
Dan, This was beautiful. I was brought up loving Patsy because of my Mother who loved her because of my Grandmother. When I was around 15 all three of us were in my Grandmothers car, and Walkin' After Midnight came on the radio and we all 3 started singing together, after the song ended I remember telling them, "We have 3 generations of Patsy fans right here!" Patsy was the glue to our bond, cause Lord knows the three of us never agreed on anything else lol Thank you for sharing this with us. It's wonderful to know that she's still loved so much, after all these years. ♡♡
꧁ Riley ꧂ Beverly D’Angelo was extraordinary in that movie “Coal Miners Daughter” & I so agree with you! She was wonderful in the movie playing the part of Patsy Cline!
Thank you Dan and Will, Being in Australia I would never have gotten to see this site where Patsy Cline had lost her life, so very sad , she was the best , thanks again guys . Keep up the great work . Cheers.
Yes, I'm a huge fan of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and a lot of the old country music. My folks listened to it as I was growing up as well. If you would like to go to her actual memorial where she is buried it is in a Winchester Virginia cemetery (can't remember which one exactly because the last time I was there when I was dating my husband almost twenty years ago). I don't particularly like tombstones, but hers is beautiful. I have pictures of it. I hate to say this, but she died on my b-day 17 years before I was born!
My grandad's trailer is about 3 miles away from the site, when me and my brother and cousin were little we used to stumble upon this site quite often. We have a lot of home movies and pictures of the 3 of us running around here and playing. My grandad's selling his trailer because he moved to Jackson, TN to be closer to family. Where I live now, I'm about an hour and a half from Camden so I'm thinking about having my senior pictures taken here later this summer.
Deb from Idaho~~~~This is 12-18-19. My mother-in-law loved Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves. I will always remember their songs because of her and in memorium to her also. RIP Donna Erskine.
Hi Dan, as a fellow fan of The Cline , I want to say thanks for this video. I probably won't get a chance to visit the site myself. Another singer you might like with a great, very Cline-esque voice is Mandy Barnett. She's starred in theatrical productions as Patsy, and did several records with Owen Bradley. She's a great singer who never got that well known.
If anyone ever becomes a musician never ride in a plane, there's a disturbingly high amount of famous musicians who died from plane crashes. Likely due to how much they travel but still a strange repeated coincidence.
Did some quick reading , low time VFR only pilot new to the aircraft flying into IFR wx after a long day of difficult flying.. tired ... became disoriented in IM conditions and spiraled in....
Same thing happened when Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Vallens died. Pilot Peterson was only fully VFR trained with limited IFR training. He hit that snowstorm and they never stood a chance.
+moonport1 and also Stevie Ray Vaughan and most of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Not to mention the guy who wrote Chattanooga choo choo (forgot his last name sadly rip) who disappeared over the Atlantic
Good for you Dan. So many people on TH-cam seem to think life began in the 80s. I'm glad you recognize that it didn't. I too grew up listening to Patty Cline records and wish I could have seen her in person just one time. Where to next?
In the movie Sweet Dreams they show the plane flying into a mountain side, it appears visibility was nil and when the windshield cleared, the plane was right there. It didn't climb enough. I wish Dottie West had convinced her to drive back with them.
When I was a teenager Patsy Cline was my Idol. I bought her records all the time. When she died my heart was broken! I still miss hearing the rich sounding voice. Beautiful voice. I still listen to Traditional Country Music.
Patsy Cline had an amazing voice I grew up listening to her my mother was a big fan of hers as well. Thank you for doing this video Dan, it is greatly appreciated. Have a blessed night. 🙂🌷❤
I would like to visit this someday . I watched a video yesterday about the guy who actually found the crash . He gives very descriptive details of what he found . He said , he found Pasty Cline's body under a log , but her foot was in a tree . The reason he knew it was her foot was because it had to nail polish on it . He said , he didn't find any of the other bodies and it was just flesh was all that he could find . I had never seen or heard that story before . He said , also that when they first got there they could see where the plane took out the top of a tree . You just have to watch it . It just bothered me that they took stuff from the crash before the investigation was through . Plus , they should have ask the family members if they could have their personal items that they found . That was sad to me . Thanks for sharing this video .
Coal Miners Daughter is one of my all time favorite films. I would always watch it when I went to visit my grandparents. It's a great memory to have. :)
I love both of those movies... I watch them every time I come across them :) Nice viddy and respect to Patsy Cline. Had to be really moving to be at that spot.
My family didn't listen to country music and I don't listen to it now but one day in the car when the radio was on the radio station played "Walking After Midnight". I may have been in elementary school---and this was around 45 years ago---but I still remember that voice and that song.
Good video footage, thanks for posting this video. My wife and I were there yesterday and they now have a Gazebo right where in your video they have the pictures in the small shelter
OMG!! Thank you so much. I love Patsy and always wanted to visit there. been a fan for years. love the movie Sweet Dreams. I was at my favorite restaurant today and they played one of her songs. I was in heaven. You did not depress me at all. All Patsy Cline fans will understand this video. Thank you...we have one thing in common. lol
Thank you for mentioning Beverly DeAngelo's performance as Patsy Cline. Although I've always been fond of Jessica, it's Beverly's part all the way. She has an incredible voice and her accent was spot on. March 5th wasn't lucky for Belushi either.
Pasty Cline died outside Camden Tn. That is in the western part of the state. You were in River Country, not the mountains. The mountains are in East Tn. We barely have hills in the western part. ;)
Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas died on my 12th birthday. The news was out and that night I tuned in on KOOY on Alice Texas to listened to their songs for a while. I had never heard of them since I was into pop nusic but it turned me into a C & W fan.
+Dan Bell / Film It We spoke many years ago , hell probably 10 at this point, when I was doing my film downtown in mt vernon I have watched your videos and u got me inspired would love to visit a cemetery with you perhaps, I did a green mount photo shoot many years ago, I need to dust off the camera, anyways keep up the great work. you need to visit Divines grave in Towson and get it on film.
Dan I had no idea you loved Patsy too. Ive spoken to her son, Randy, who looks just like her, he's a wonderful man, and animal rights activist. I mourn most for his loss, and his sister Julie's, and her sweet Mama's as well, Hilda Hensley.
I walk the greenway all the time that leads to the airport she was supposed to land at. The entire airport is owned now by the city of Nashville. The runway is a cool place to ride bikes.
I visted patsy cline,s hometownof Winchester, Virginia yrs ago, I visited her grave as well loved her for yrs ! And I,m from Canada ! Happy New Years guys , r I p patsy, cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and her mgr who was flying the piper Comanche air plane that led to their demise randy Hughes who also played guitar in her band,
A very somber location. It's really nice to see that the good people of Tennessee put up a proper memorial for her and her band mates. Dunno if they have one, but it would be interesting to see if they also have a memorial of the crash site where Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, Dean Kilpatrick, and pilot Walter McCreary, and co-pilot William Gray got killed. According to what I read, it's five miles northeast of Gillsburg, MS. That one there was an incredible loss to the music world.
She definitely fell to pieces. J/K I love Patsy Cline. I was able to visit her old house in VA a few tours ago. Being a musician is probably the only thing that makes me wary of getting on planes because of these type of tragedies. Btw, it makes me very glad to see other people I've known for a while being successful and traveling doing what they enjoy. Keep it up!
I love her! She had a beautiful voice. We just got a "Grand Ole Opry" book at the thrift store recently and they had some pictures of her in there. The only one that comes close to singing like her is K.D. Lang.
Ugh so sad. Must be so scary. Watched a documentary on John Kennedy jr. died in a crash with his family. I'd never go on a little plane so scary. A kid in my class lost his whole family in a small plane crash than he committed suicide shortly after. Can't imagine. God bless stay safe in your travels everyone.
Sweet Dreams was a horrible movie. Jessica Lang was a bad choice. I've talked with people who had the chance to meet her on occasion and one of the first things they do is almost apologize for the movie (before they understand that I agree with them). The movie didn't capture Patsy's spirit. Coal Miner's Daughter did a better job. It's sad what the movie did to the memory of Patsy.
What a shallow opinion of the movie considering my and my siblings (all only in our twenties) grew up watching that movie and fell in love with Patsy Cline because of it and Jessica Lange. Lots of young kids grew up watching that movie and know Patsy because of it
Oh this was so cool for me to see - I have always loved her voice and have seen both films. Wow...I had no idea that was there...how nice of them to place a memorial....sad...but VERY cool video Dan!!! Loved it!
love the vid, have u ever been to Gillsburg, MS where Lynyrd Skynryd was killed? It is in the woods too, I have been wanting to go but Im not a brave person to go hiking in the woods :) Keep up the good work Dan & Wll..safe travels!
the memorial there is a little more elaborate that he one at the Buddy Holly site (I live about 10 miles from there). Is this down near Dyersburg Tennessee ?
Pasty Cline is my Cousin on my dad's side of family thanks for the video and the respect
How wonderful that she is your cousin! What an extraordinary singer leaving a legacy of love! Thanks for sharing, Chris!❤️
Don't talk shit. She would be almost 90 now, she ain't your cousin.

I think Coal Miner's Daughter was about Loretta Lynn.
LodiTX Patsy played a major role in Loretta's life as both her mentor and best friend. Beverly D'angelo was amazing in the film.
And wasn't Loretta Lynn the Godmother to Patsy's first born?
It was a description of anyone who had a life of coal mining along Appalachian trail.. the life was the same for all of the industry...
True, but Cline was also a character in the film as she was a personal friend of Loretta's

Thanks so much for the video. I will never be able to visit the site so your posting the video means so much to me.
Thanks so much for visiting the Memorial. I love me some Patsy Cline! Gone too soon.
I was 12 yrs old whn she died but grew up to luv her music with some of her albums 🙂
Patsy was only 30 years old with a young family. Their loss was far greater than the loss of her talent to the music business.
Thank you for helping us visit the site.
Thanks for sharing your moment at the site.
I'm from Indonesia.. I'm a big fan of pasty cline
I have always loved her and wish she was still alive she had such wonderful talent her voice was like a angel.
Thank you for mentioning Beverly DeAngelo's performance as Patsy Cline. Although I've always been fond of Jessica, it's Beverly's part all the way. She has an incredible voice and her accent was spot on. March 5th wasn't lucky for Belushi either.
beverly was patsy. she should have gotten the part in sweet dreams.
RIP LEGENDARY THANK 4 YUR BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES 💙🙏🕊⚘
Pasty Cline died outside Camden Tn. That is in the western part of the state. You were in River Country, not the mountains. The mountains are in East Tn. We barely have hills in the western part. ;)
Looks like Ontario.
That is Camden. TN - Dan Bell may have said it wrong. Camden is closer to Middle TN than Memphis. (Mileage wise as I was
going to buy near Camden)
Not River County! Camden is in Benton County. I know, I live next county over.
I was in the 3rd grade when the plane crash happened...my mom and dad were visibly upset, both were big fans of Patsy and the others as well....
Patsy was so young when she died. it is so sad....she worked so hard RIP Miss Patsy Cline
the movie is the reason i discovered Patsy Cline.
I'm Crazy, Crazy for feeling so blue. love that song. thanks.
Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas died on my 12th birthday. The news was out and that night I tuned in on KOOY on Alice Texas to listened to their songs for a while. I had never heard of them since I was into pop nusic but it turned me into a C & W fan.
Damn, I would love to be able to travel to see all of the locations that Dan has seen in his lifetime. Totally jealous. 😁
Huge fan as well, thank you for posting your visit there.
I just had to listen to Crazy after seeing this video
+plasticlemons I played Crazy on my phone while I was there. Surreal. I started tearing up.
+Colette Cross Me three.
One of my favorite Karaoke songs
Dan I had no idea you loved Patsy too. Ive spoken to her son, Randy, who looks just like her, he's a wonderful man, and animal rights activist. I mourn most for his loss, and his sister Julie's, and her sweet Mama's as well, Hilda Hensley.
My momma LOVED Patsy Cline. Her mom actually named her Patsy after her.
My mom's mother's nickname was Patsy. Nobody called her by her birth name. She too is gone now.
Im loving all this content youve been churning out
I walk the greenway all the time that leads to the airport she was supposed to land at. The entire airport is owned now by the city of Nashville. The runway is a cool place to ride bikes.
God bless them all that did die in that crash. Personal thanks to Patsy. You sure changed my life girl. Xxx
After doing some research years ago I discovered Im distant relative of Patsy Cline. -Chris Cline
SWEET DREAMS IS A GOOD MOVIE,SHE HAD A VERY GOOD VOICE.THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO DAN,KEEP THEM COMING. ...
Yeah, that lady could sing!
In the movie, Coal Miner's Daughter they say Dyersburg Tennessee is where the plane crashed, which is wrong.
They just put one up last October...check out ronaldwaynevanzant's channel
There’s a great video on TH-cam where one of the first persons on the site of the plane crash that morning was interviewed
Been by this place several times for buisness....wanted to stop..... could not. R.I.P. Patsy....fans love you...we all miss you.
They should get some of her DNA and make a Patsy Clone
+Todd E Walnuts Oh, that's bad. I groaned, but still laughed.
EARTH ANGEL. I HAVE TO ADMIT,SHE WAS THE FINEST FEMALE COUNTRY SINGER THAT I'VE EVER HEARD!!!!
Keep it up!
Early Gates What a disrespectful "joke" about falling to pieces. 😝

good video! planning on visiting the site myself soon. It's so quiet there and rustic. I agree it could use a little sprucing up
Its so quiet. And peaceful...One cant imagine, the horror that happened there
I love her! She had a beautiful voice. We just got a "Grand Ole Opry" book at the thrift store recently and they had some pictures of her in there. The only one that comes close to singing like her is K.D. Lang.
+Jenni Case Roy Orbison had a beautiful voice also.
Would have been nice to hear a Patsy Cline song echoing in the background.
Love me some pasty !!! So sorry for families loss !!! And for the others that died along with her !! All Gone to soon !!!!!
This is near Camden, Tennessee...far from the mountains. This isn't even the foot hills. Located about 1 hour from Nashville in West Tennessee.
Wow Dan my loved her as well and I also grew up listening to her as well. I didn't realize she died that way :( very sad.
Love this channel so much Dan!
Sweet dreams gets me every time
My grandmother loved her
I had no idea she died in a plane crash, thanks Dan.
Her box full of money was stolen from the crash site. she was returning from a concert back in them days the manager or singer handled the money.
my grandmother favorite singer to rip patsy cline!!!
Rest in peace Patsy, you are forever missed. 🌷
Teddy L Boulden They need to remake it. Jessica Lange is horrible when not a villain. She even looks like Cruella Deville.
Loved it!
she was on her way home after doing a benefit concert with two others on the plane--so sad this trip cost them their lives
love the vid, have u ever been to Gillsburg, MS where Lynyrd Skynryd was killed? It is in the woods too, I have been wanting to go but Im not a brave person to go hiking in the woods :) Keep up the good work Dan & Wll..safe travels!
That's band members Van Zant, along with guitarist Steve Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines
Awesome ❤️ thank you Dan Bell!
The actual crash site is actually about a mile further into the woods. Poor rural Camden couldn't afford to buy the private land where it happened.
Thanks so much guys now I’m really depressed
the memorial there is a little more elaborate that he one at the Buddy Holly site (I live about 10 miles from there). Is this down near Dyersburg Tennessee ?
