very true but honestly i have gotten to the point where i threw away sly 4 and i just play the original trilogy. sly 4 is so non canon i cant even stand to play it. sly 3 ended on a positive note and if they dont make a sly 5 then i will just stick to the trilogy.

T Lebron My guess: Simple answer? It’s a video game, and we need progression and consequences Complex answer? Sly didn’t forget, he has a health bar to reflect this stronger and more damage resistant nature. It’s just that he can only do his “ancestors trick” so many times...
2:20:45 This is some of the most painful gameplay I've seen in a long time. The instructions were clear and Bentley even repeats the instructions a few times and yet you manage to fail this.
Bentley: "I'll need to bomb all of the lower cleats before I can take out the ones up here." Retro: "So what you're saying is I need to place more bombs on the upper cleats?" Bentley: "... Why must I, the smartest member of the team, be controlled by an absolute buffoon?"
7:22:57 is pretty funny when Sly said "Just make sure that traps don't rip you into a hundred little turtle pieces" "Why'd you have to say that"? hahahaha.
When I first played the game as a kid I had no idea neyla would end up being a traitor but it made for a great twist and fighting clockwork again even if it’s just his body not actually him was still scary
Now that you mentioned it what ever happened to the actual Clockwerk and I’m not talking about his death in the volcano remember his pieces were shown in the museum even his heart was replaced and how did he lived for so long despite his anger for the Coopers I have a theory he’s from the future and a descendant of Cooper scent him all the way to Bob Cooper’s time line he was still weak from the fall so he was there watching everything happen in a blink of an eye and when he was strong enough he was ready but I can’t get his last words out of my head something about flowers? What was the rest again?
This game was the absolute best. Of course it would’ve been perfect if we were able to replay these missions. I know that the initial ones in each level are kind of mundane, but the fun I had was using some power ups to manipulate the environment, such as in Close to Contessa.
A bit late to reply, but when I was a kid I found a glitch that let me replay levels in sequential order! I first found it by being bored after finishing the game and getting all collectibles and power ups. You can replay the last 2 levels by running through the mission in the second Jean Bison world where you point the laser off the ice to melt the mammoth. Once you activate the beam, it triggered the cutscene and reset the last missions and world. Not as cool as a full game reset, but still a reset!
It's a shame this game didn't come with the power up that lets the binocucom spot the clue bottles like in the first game. It should have included the first game's info about the guards in the binocucom as well.
Yall a bunch of boomers, there's absolutely no lack of not even a single one of the things you mentioned. Play more, complain less (and if you really believe what you said, I guess you should inform yourself properly about the actual contemporary videogaming world)
Those RC fighters look just like the Contessa's tanks. Murray shot the enemy RC, but it apparently never occurred to him to shoot the guy controlling it.
This game is one example of a perfect video game from my perspective, I’m so thankful these games were remade for PS3 and I wish they would come to the PS5.
First one is on ps5 now. Not sure if you knew already but I made sure to immediately buy it. It downloads its not a stream edition. You can buy it with basic ps store now. Hopefully 2 comes soon.
The rats that got pegged in Tide of Terror and scared the elephants in A Starry Eyed Encounter were wild animals, but Dimitri's rat guards were anthropomorphic...consistency error.
When Arpeggio and Jean Bison talked in the first HWTTIH mission, I always used to imagine that Arpeggio was communicating not through a speaker, but with his head in the fireplace like in Harry Potter.
BENTLEY: "We'll have to rely on a stronger force: the love of a mother for her child." MURRAY: "...You got something to tell me?" BENTLEY: "Yes Murray...I'm pregnant." LOL
For the chopper fighting mission in A Starry Eyed Encounter, they should have had Murray fight the chopper and Sly fight off any guards that came running to them. That would have been more realistic.
They have normal and anthropomorphic animals mixed throughout the whole series, like Chumley the turtle from Vicious Vodoo and Bentley, or mushots dog guards and Mugshot himself. It’s just a thing in this universe where some animas evolutioned to become people
For those of you who don't know, the red circle on the floor in Murray's prison riot mission is a button that activates a laser. You can push it by thunder flopping on it.
I never finished it because I just thought it was too hard 😂 my kid brain just wasn’t up to speed I guess. But looking back I can really see why this game was considered to be one of the best games of all time on release. Even though I prefer Sly 3, this one is still really good and I really like clockwerk too, even though we didn’t really get to see the real clockwerk in action, we only got Clock-la I still think Clockwerk is one of the best villains in the Sly series along with Doctor M.
The Contessa's voice actress was Gloria Manon, who also played Mrs. Curtis in Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (the Gene Wilder one, not the Johnny Depp one).
I like the part with the Contessa was surprised that her bodyguards are gone 4:41:03 "who goes there?! Where... where are my guards?" 4:44:09 "huh?... they're gone again!" 4:46:35 "what! Where are those lazy bodyguards? They're all fired!"
As a kid I will always remember that amazing trilogy and not forget to mention the spectacular music , mini clips , characters and voice overs ! ( AND THE MUSIC FROM DIMITRI’S CLUB)
sly 2 was best sly period, really blew their load with that game, not 3 or 4 are bad had their moments to but for me never could recapture what made sly 2 special.
4:40:34 Remember, where you see a red triangle warning, it means you’re automatically abandoning the job you’ve been given. So best to stay on the task at hand.
Could be early - but it seemed like you were not buying any power ups or extra gadgets to use; which is cool and all but I feel like half the fun was messing around with those nifty things. Especially when you would have so many to choose from for each character. The amount of fun that could be had with Murray just instant roasting people was always a treat. And sure enough later on in chapter 2 you sold all your loot and bought some stuff. Reminds me of the grind this game has a bit, between just looting or trying to get the bombed treasures.
I’ve played all 3 of the original Sly Cooper Games on my PS2. Lots of great memories trying to play this game. Took a long time figuring out what the parachute glider was before I found out it was a skill I had to buy
"despite it's size, that ruby is very fragile" *Sly literally just whacked it loose and it fell on the ground, not a single scratch on that ruby* I never understood that.
Wish the current Sky Cooper game had the same feel at the first 3. Just felt like a different game. I do feel like the 3rd game should be considered the unofficial conclusion
Sly cooper is amazing and i hope they finish the series as well as remake these games. Wish sucker punch never gave up on this franchise
Braven you’re right it was absolute gold when it first came out even now I still have it for the PS2

Why did Sly forget Suzanne Cooper’s notes pertaining to Water Safety?
How do two semi aquatic animals not know how to swim is my question
Nature is this game is weird!

4:30:43 Murray, you're supposed to fight your inmates, not kill them lol.
Did anyone else notice that Bentley was still standing after Jean Bison hit them with the talons but Sly and Murray weren't?
10:45:46 Arpeggio looks like Lord Farquaad from behind...perhaps that's fitting considering their shortcomings-"short" comings lol.
9:46:15-9:46:31 one of the funniest moments in the game.

Those RC fighters look just like the Contessa's tanks. Murray shot the enemy RC, but it apparently never occurred to him to shoot the guy controlling it.
The super fast gadget that Bentley uses makes him look like he's possessed by the Guru.
