I keep rewatching the final boss, and I keep seeing new little bullet patterns you weave through that im stunned any human could evade, congrats on this !
It is just a timeout of the battle time limit. If this stage 4 boss's life decreases enough, the attack method will be changed to shooting extremely very fast bullets. This insane attack was too hard for me, so I was always waiting the timeout. Unfortunately, however, I failed to avoid the lasers just before the timeout in this video.

I'm genuinely confused as to why the boss exploded after you died at around 22:21 does it have to do with how shield works in advanced?

低予算やデザインをシンプルにするとしても、ここまで生理的嫌悪感は
抱かせるのは、逆にすごいとしかいえない
見た目で損しているのは否定しませんが、見た目だけでゲームバランス無茶苦茶なSTGが多い中で、きちんとゲームとしての面白さを追求している良作だと思いますよ。
