I look at using antique photos as honoring the memory of someone from years past. I hope maybe someone will remember me in years to come too. I think it’s sweet and thoughtful.
Exactly! I hope so to! I told my husband “what if someone finds photos of us in 100 years and says we are haunted and creepy” hahaha
I agree. They are lovely and you take a moment to wonder who they were and what their lives were like.
I can't understand how anyone could be unkind about your use of antique photos in your decor. It's such a kind way of saving them from landfills and honoring other people's lives. Besides it's no one's business how you decorate and if they don't like it they can quit watching. Keep doing whatever makes your heart happy! I personally think your decorating is absolutely lovely.🤎
I have some antique pictures of people I don't know either, but in my eyes they are interesting and beautiful! Your attention to detail decorating just amazing! Too many channels are just to much Hobby Lobby, and everyone is copying each other. Your talents are endless, always so happy when you post a new video.

Yes! I noticed that recently. Seems so many decorators are all copies of each other, same stores, same colors, same styles and same items. It’s boring! Love her use of such unique items❤

Don’t ever feel that you have to explain your decorating to anyone! I decorate for me and could care less if anyone likes it. Your home looks lovely❤️ I love dark academia as well. I figure those pics either don’t have living family or they just don’t want them. I think it’s lovely they still get a home to be in even if it’s by adoption ☺️

Danielle I love your lovely home, I love old pictures of people as well whether I know them or not (although I do have some very old pictures of my grandparents I never met and have those out as well), and I think they add a curated warm and friendly look to your home so I love seeing you use them. You are very good at putting together vignettes and I love that curved cabinet.

What I don’t get is why would families and relatives ever give these precious photos away! These are pictures of someone who was known and special enough to have their picture taken…to be cherished and treasured! ❤
Definitely not a cookie-cuter style of decorating and that is why I enjoy watching. Really like the colors you added because they do warm the space. I enjoy the music you play too which adds to the entire feel when showing your finished styling.

I love your aesthetic. Love the antique photos. I have a few too. I totally agree that people are spending so much money at Hobby Lobby and Kirkland's to buy what so many others have. I like finding things everybody Doesn't have. Everything in my house except my tv & bed are thrifted. I like to change things a lot & by thrifting I can affordably buy new things to decorate with.
When we decorate with and love vintage items, we are working with items from the past just as the Victorian Photos are of people from the past. I love it ❤

I use vintage photos in my decorating and think they tell a bit of history. I love the layered vintage mirrors and the feathers in the trophies. What a clever use of the suitcases. I love how you have styled your vintage/antique items. Thanks for the inspiration.

I see you honoring people that lived once upon a time. To me weird are skeletons and eyeballs and all kinds of creepy stuff. The photos are not dark. They’re lovely photos.

But the doily that you put on
the coffee table, they were made to put in a bread basket, and cover the bread or biscuits.
But now you could use it for whatever you want. I also love to decorate and collect beautiful things.❤
I have liked old photographs forever. It’s really no different than hanging a painted portrait. We call them “instant ancestors.”
I also pick up old photos, put them into my decor. I always feel saddened that these people have been forgotten by family and/or time. I've gotten many creepy remarks too.
You can decorate how ever you want to in your own home. People these days think if they have an opinion they need everyone to know it. It drives me crazy! If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all. You do you!

I just have to say, at a much earlier time in my life, I furnished a rather large, turn of the century Georgian home with thrifted furniture and home goods. I surprised visitors with my style! Currently, forty years later, I have a southwest contemporary ranch home. Leather, wood, nature, AND my antique dishes, decor, textiles!
I like the moody atmosphere and rich colors. I put vintage family photos on my sofa table and bought an old French Ivory locking album once in an antique store with photographs from the Civil War era and after, that I set out from time to time to display. Some people think they are kind of spooky, but I doubt that the people in them would feel that sentiment.
So true! I wish I had family photos like that! I have maybe two, but they’re only as old as the 1910-20’s! I love the look of the late 1800’s!

The only morbid antique photos are the ones of people in their caskets! I love old photos, it’s literally a snapshot into another time, showing their hairstyles and clothing, while honoring those who have lived before us! Ok, 1. I personally wouldn't use the photos just because it's not my thing however I think it's a great way to honor their lives. Don't you wonder what kind of life they lived and what kind of family they had in that moment? We're they "well to do" etc. Love it!
2. This music reminds me of period movies from old English times, particularly Pride and Prejudice. It makes me want to sit with a cup of tea, put on a video watching an autumn scene with the leaves blowing in the wind, trees swaying etc. Ahhhh..... Bliss. See what your videos do to people??!! It's great!

I think your home is beautiful! My husband and I love antique and thrift shopping for our home and we use old photos as well. We especially love the ones in old frames with the glass that domes out. We have several in our home of children and older people, some we know and some we don’t. We feel it’s beautiful and a way to honor them.
I’m a fan of cottage with a small amount of farmhouse (not Hobby Lobby stuff) and some dark academia mixed in. Currently working on our lower level using vintage art, luggage, globes, salt timers, books and other darker items to create a beautiful old library.

We in this part of the world dont generally decorate seasonally, and I personally find all the orange pumpkins a bit overdone and commercial, however your style is so tastefully restrained.
