Thanks for the comment, gbrot! I did have some fun with it. My month ran out and then I got busy with my day job and other videos for the channel, so I haven’t had time to go back. I’d really like to at some point, though. I have one more DQ video that I’m working on (aka it’s currently just ideas floating around on my head lol) on the Wii Beta version of the game. I have a copy of it and want to do a deep dive on it. Look forward to that sometime in the future! - Danny
Recently started playing this (Switch Free Trial). Surprisingly easy to grasp even though I don't read/speak Japanese. I have no idea what the story is so far, but I was able to alter my controls without having to pull out Google Translate. I call that a win for user-friendliness.
That's awesome! From some comments from some others here, I'm thinking about doing the same. My month long ticket ran up on the 3DS version. At any rate, keep having fun, darkstar! - Danny
What a fantastic video! It's very interesting they even considered bringing it to the 3DS considering you won't always have an internet connection. I'm looking for a copy of the game but can't find any on eBay, I guess I'll look at some Japanese sites lol
Thanks so much for checking it out and for the comment! I was absolutely fascinated by this, which is why I just took the plunge and thankfully got to check it out before it got shut down. These can be a bit tricky to track down even using Japanese sites. I hope you can find yourself a copy for a reasonable price. Happy hunting! - Danny
I don't knwo Japanese but through pattern recognition and intuition and picking up individual kana managed to put a combined 230 hours in DQM TW and 2 3D. I was considering getting X on 3DS for completionism but didn't know it's purely streaming, might just wait and pray for offline being localized. All I have left to get is Theaterythm and DQXI 3D I guess.
Great video! Actually just started dragon quest 10 on the Nintendo switch I'm thinking about streaming it on twitch and doing a rough translation! Also what's nice is the switch version allows you to play version 1.0 for free and some of 2.0 for free!
Thanks, Jordan! Appreciate the comment! Another person here in the comments also mentioned that the switch version allows for free play. My 3DS ticket is almost finished. I might continue in the Switch! - Danny
If you do stream, let me know your twitch channel and I'll try to watch :-) I just downloaded the free switch version and started the tutorial. My Japanese is VERY rusty lol but I'm getting by so far. I remember getting it up and running on PC a few years ago, but so many challenges. Buying the game. Buying yen webmoney to turn into Crysta to subscribe. Having to change language on my PC to make unicode appear properly. Having to VPN into Japan.... It was such a complicated mess I gave up after not long. Seems like the Switch version overcomes most of the technical hurdles and just leaves the "how do i pay for it" part as the potential problem. Well that plus the language.
It’s nuts! When it was first announced I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Especially when they said they were releasing a cloud version of a game at retail! Lol! Made more sense when I sat back and thought about it for a second but still! Cheers! - Danny
If we get dragon quest 10 offline for the switch, I will be so happy. They had said a little bit ago that they would possibly release but only in an offline form.
English/Spanish player here, crossplay works between every platform, but if you buy your suscription (whenever you want to become a paid player) the account is shared between PC and Switch, but PS4 requires you to buy another sub separately, hope i could help you!
I’ve got a pretty decent internet provider. Heck, even with that, though, the room I was in was quite far from my router but it was still running pretty well. Were you in Japan? If you were accessing it via a VPN or something that could have been an issue. - Danny
Wish we could get 10 and 11 on the 3ds (well wish we could get 10 period...) I just absolutely hate the switch and much prefer the 3ds. Pc gaming also isn't ideal for long games like these. Absolutely kills my back lol
Oh damn! Not a fan of the Switch, eh? It’s all good there. The 3DS is a great system and it’s a pity that Square Enix didn’t take a chance on DQ10 in English speaking territories. - Danny
Hey if you don't mind, where were you able to find this? I have checked everywhere online and no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the comment, John! For finding this, I was doing some shopping on Mercari in Japan. I’ve seen this up on Yahoo Auctions Japan, too, I think. That was a few years ago, though. They are getting a bit harder to track down, even here in Japan. - Danny
Absolutely. I’m NOT an MMO guy myself, so I stayed away from this one until now. I mean, geez, this thing is super inaccessible to people in the west. Region locked. Only playable on Japanese 3DS. Cloud based. Not to mention language locked. I’m also really interested in DQX Offline. There’s a lot of potential there not only for just what they announced, but a whole “Offline” series based on the stories from the expansions. I prefer the look of the MMO, but Offline looks nice, too! - Danny
Gameboy sucks in graphics the Nintendo Switch is Nintendo first handheld console that’s worth playing on from all the handheld they ever made but it’s no where as great as the PS5 Xbox series X but the Steam Deck is here taking care of what Nintendo couldn’t do
The fact that there’s an mmo on the 3ds that none of us got to play 😢
Please keep the DQ X content coming! I really hope you're having an enjoyable experience with it.

i wouldnt hold your breath on that one
Im honestly glad we never got the offline version of the game as its not the authentic Dragon Quest X experience.
Are the DQX servers on every platform connected? Or are they unique to the platform/no crossplay?

@@Wena-Ark thank you
thats neat,3ds was the last best nin console that had alot of exclusive 3rd party games and alot arnt even on switch yet
how did you get it to run so smoothly? when i did it my shit was laggy and on my switch its fine

cept this is a cloud version apparently and requires a pretty good internet

You do realise why it is overlooked for a reason right?
For me, I don't care about mmos but the offline DQX looks interesting

but its cloud =(
It's an MMO though, so either way it'd always require online so I don't think it matters
