Been subbed for a while, You’re in for a treat he plays such varied and original phrases every time you hear him. So clean and so perfect for the instrument or subject he’s showcasing. He really is the real deal. A rare original sound to all his playing that broke my fatigue of listening to advanced players which was leading me to thinking actually I don’t have an urge to play that well anymore as they all sound the same.

70 yrs. Old. Retired in Mexico. I am drawn to this style Chris Buck, and Paul. I heard something very much like this, but not the blue bends from my guitar teacher in 1964. He taught me to hold pick between index and middle finger. Paul and Chris, thanks for giving a 70 yr. old inspiration. I am a happier person due to your art. BTW. My guitar teacher was Johnny Keck, well known in Indiana, Chicago area. Master of banjo also.

I watched Paul's video, and enjoyed it immensely -- I am surprised by how much I deeply enjoyed that video... All of the contributors were extremely fantastic, but Chris' version was the only one that almost made me weep, and I watched it several times... The other contributors were eager to provide a version that was happy and would "gallop", but Chris supplied an interpretation that showed a fascinating "gravity". Chris can use the meat of his right thumb to mute the thrum of the deep notes that would "muddy" the other notes. This made the higher notes brighter. He still used "gorgeous" and "rich" E-notes, but they didn't "bury" the agreeable "clean" C and G# notes. He also re-enforced his strong left ring-finger with his other fingers, to produce excitingly fast and assertive bends. Bravo, Chris. You won the internet... Chris, your volume-control on your transitions is awe-inspiring. Brilliant. Utterly brilliant. My soul is rewarded by your mastery. Sincere thanks.

That first lick, with the bend/sliding thing, is something Duane Allman perfected. You can hear it in his solo from the

I commented on Paul's video way back when and promptly forgot about it and didn't even look you up. Pandemic, other stuff, whatever. I really should have.
Happened across this randomly today, and it still holds up as well as it did then. It's what Jeff Beck *almost* was to me, but his playing just didn't have that *one* missing thing that I never could quite name. This solo just nails that. Liquid, beautiful tone, but with a more vivid sense of adventure while staying within the 'sweet spot'. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for this! Really appreciate not only all the singing/fluttery stuff you do on the guitar, but also for the way you express yourself... always nice to get a good idea of the person. Authenticity is so appealing. Gratz!

Glad Paul's video brought me back to you. Saw your cover of "I can't make you love me," a couple of years ago here on youtube, and quite honestly, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything better. This solo was just a reminder of how smooth you are. Thanks for your sharing your gift with us

Man, coming from a sax player, for me that solo had such delicate and beautiful dynamics to it. Sax players love to ‘sing’ through our instruments and I honestly think how you used different accentuations, vibrato and phrasing gave an effect of an emotion-filled human voice. Incredible, incredible solo man - I think you’ve touched on something special musically here that transcends beyond the guitar!
