Hello beautiful people of TH-cam! Otis is a star and we’re very thankful to all of you in support of him. We do want to address a few things really quick on here. 1- Otis does not want to be picked up, he tends to freak out, gets nervous and starts to bite. He prefers for us to pet him, or simply tolerates it and we of course interact with him which we do daily and multiple times a day. 2- Otis is a box turtle with box turtle needs (no matter what) and must be kept in a naturalistic manner in order to ensure his long term, optimal health. This is crucial and isn’t an opinion. Humidity range is just one of the many things that must be met and this is something his previous owners must have done well because he is very healthy and grown properly. 3- We cannot get any other info on his background (no matter how hard we try) other than that he was kept outside in the summer and inside in the winter. We have no clue why he was given up, sadly. 4- OTIS IS A TURTLE he is NOT a tortoise. Box turtles are actually members of the emydid family which are pond turtles, believe it or not. It doesn’t matter what country you’re from or what you may have been taught. He is 100% a turtle. You can easily google box turtles and exactly what I’m referring to here. 5- Otis is thriving! We have an entire playlist for you guys with multiple videos of him and we will keep making more of course! Here’s the link to the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLodsosc0i5TLSjx3PjX5avevTDv-lq2A5.html We’ve received an overwhelming amount of requests for Otis t-shirts so we’ve made that happen! Back in the 1990's, I had three spur thigh tortises, two males and a female. They had the run of the house and always used a dirt box to go to the bathroom. Every eve, after I sat down to watch some tv with my kids, the female would start doing laps around the kitchen and livingroom. As she would pass my feet, she would bump into them. I first thought she was only clumsy. It took awhile for her to train me that this ment it was time to feed her and the boys. It didn' seem to bother her to as how many laps it was until I got up and prepaired their meal, when I sat down in the eve, to her, that was meal time. Of all the scaled, slimmy, furry or feathered friends I've had in my 65 years, she was the most set on the feeding schedual with a parrot comming in 2nd who when I would start eating would first run back and forth on top of his cage and then start saying in a soft voice 'hello, hello' until I shared some with him. I would feel real bad if I forgot and had already finnished my plate as most parrots would just screem or skreach.
@@justhimo2728 Who is "them"? There are dif requirement for every turtle, eastern box, oriantal box, etc., african spur or meditaranian spur (the type I had).
Domesticated reptiles have a good sense of memory. He's doing this Behavior because he knows that you are not his previous owner he had for the last 10 years. And he's really checking you out. Or he's just trying to show his dominance and wanted to bite your nose. Have you ever seen Turtles fight? they go for each other's noses
I kinda thought that him lifting his foot and looking at you that way might mean he had learned to shake hands( or whatever you want to call it), and wanted to teach you this "trick". Lol he might even think you are not as smart as his other pets were and is preparing to teach you.🤓😂
I agree. He's so personable that I reckon he was interacting with people all the time. Probably treated like a valued member of a family. I know that that is how I treat my animal family members. ❤️
I also was the VERY fortunate Eastern box turtle parent of a female for 15 years, Shaniqua. She acted identical to Otis. She would follow me out to get the mail and back, following me everywhere like a dog. She loved petting and would lock eyes and just stare at me. This video of Otis brought back SOOO many great memories!
We found one near a busy intersection in town. There was no nature nearby so we brought her home to keep her from getting run over. She acts like Otis with her neck and seems to like attention, always watching us and the cats. We have a small farm so we are used to animals but she is something else. I never imagined petting a turtle was a thing. Besides her neck, she likes her front legs petted and will let them hang out to be rubbed. Just today, she started following me. I came back to this video because I thought of Otis. 😊🐢 We are building her an outdoor habitat in the spring. ❤🐢 We love you, Otis!

I have a 22 year-old eastern box turtle. She loves my dogs and cats! I let her run free when I work from home. She snuggles up with my other pets. Seems to love the feeling of fur. I adopted her a few years ago, and have been amazed at how personable she is!! She does not like to be picked up and will pee as a way to get put down! 😸
I've had my box turtle for 20 years, he practically grew up with me! He also loves to cuddle next to our cat, and follows us around the house. He doesn't mind being picked up, but after a few moments he starts to look down at the floor so I get the impression that means "Put me down please!" lol. He also likes to lounge in a giant dog water bowl, he'll soak in it for about 20 minutes then uses it as a bathroom, then climbs out. I keep it clean with fresh water so he always has access to it, as a result i don't believe he's gone to the bathroom on the floor in years. He doesn't care much for the veggies or foods that a specialist recommend to us years ago, but LOVES cheerios cereal lol. They really are amazing animals 🐢
Otis is displaying behavior of a turtle that was raised from birth by humans.. he probably got (mostly) free reign around the house, picked up a lot, pet a lot, given kisses, etc. Usually turtles don’t like other turtles when they’ve lived their whole life with humans. I’m thinking maybe Otis didn’t live with any other turtles prior. I think he’s going to require a majority of his time spent with humans. He’s über cute and I hope he thrives! 💖🐢
Yes you are 100% right. My uncle had a Greek land turtle for over 45 years. It was kept in the house and balcony, never had contact with other turtles and it was acting a lot like Otis here. After my uncle died I had "Susie" for about a year till I found him a good home and he wasn't getting along with other turtles there either.
Same behavior as my red ear turtles, but I got the first one when it was little. I've had it for more than 20 years and displays the same behaviour as the one in the video. It also gets jealous of my other turtle even though I've have it for almost 10 years.

One latched on to my son’s finger once and I thought I’d never get it to let go. My son began to have tears rolling down his face it hurt so bad. He was about 8. We just found it in the backyard, brought it in and put a very small amount of water in the bathtub, and just admired it for a little bit. I picked it up to put it back outside and my son pet its little head and BAM. He’s grown now and will never forget it and will never pet another.
Not a tortoise but more closely-related to aquatic and semi-aquatic species. Probably the closest living relatives are in Asia and their life-style is more aquatic than Otis's mostly terrestrial life-style.
This really isn't that special(I mean of course it's special to have the love of an animal but this isn't that unique).. we had so many turtles even 2 Eastern box turtles and many of them are like this, even tortoises.
He’s asking to be held when he stares at you like that! I was SO relieved when he was finally being at the end!😂 He looks so ridiculously content in that two hand hold! 🥰
It's so very obvious! I'm surprised by that lack of observation nor any tenderness when holding the little darling. He's full of spirit & so adorable. Best of luck to him! 😍💚🌿
Yes, I was waiting for the man to actually give him a little more affection or let him get closer to his body. Hopefully, the children will provide more affection.
@@steveatonya7414 Can you be a little nicer ? What’s wrong with you ? Don’t bring your narrow minded thoughts, especially when a human try to connect with animals . 😠
I had one of these (different type of turtle with the red line on the sides). Had him for 5 years and he did these things. He followed me and I found him remarkable. Till this day he is the best pet I ever had. I thought I was alone on my experience. This video brings back all those memories. They are very intelligent.
I had a desert tortoise who acted like that. His name was Franklin (like the kid's tv show). But he was FASTer than expected and He was so active and wanted to go roaming so much that I ended up sticking a Velcro square on the top of his shell and sewed a square on the end of a lightweight thin leash in replacement of the normal metal clip. Then we were able to go on walks around the hills and neighborhood on nice days without me worrying about losing him or him getting hurt. He loved it.
@@amberenergyhealertarot6617 I’m glad you had him in your life for the time you did. I hate to hear he had to be rehomed. I’ve had to do it and I still hate it just as much today as I did then.
Thank you for posting Otis. I have had a three toed box turtle that exhibits the same behavior that Otis does! She follows me around the house, bumps at my feet, lures me down to her level in the same posture that Otis displays when he is staring into your eyes. She knows where I sit on the couch and waits for me to sit down or hides just under the couch behind my feet. My husband and I have enjoyed her company for 26 years now. She is truly a teacher in her own right.
When I was a kid, my dad rescued a terrapin turtle with damaged feet. He had quite the personality, he loved classical music and watching TV with us. He loved to watch the old Japanese movies about gamara the monster turtle, lol!
@Curtis Marean I love your story, especially the part at the end about your terrapin turtle watching old Japanese movies about "Garama". 🐢😂😜😸 That is so cute and funny ☺️🤣😹🐢
This turtle was a companion not a pet. I once had a turtle that I found about the size of a quarter. It was after a storm. At first I thought it was dead. So I picked it up so my dog wouldn't have. I was going to bury it and on my way to a shovel it moved. I was determined to get it big enough to not worry about its survival. So I kept it in my shirt pocket everywhere I went. Made sure it got water and food. After a few weeks buster was in my opinion big enough to be on his own. Even my dog rocky didn't mind him being around. So I put him by the pond. Buster never went. He came back to the steps. He became a companion. Anywhere in the yard I went buster was trying to follow. It took years for buster to finally become a turtle. I sometimes go sit in the swing by the pond and buster would come sit beside me. A couple years later the pond all but dried up and buster moved on. Rocky passed away shortly after buster left. I can only pray buster is still out there being a turtle.
That is pretty sad. I know it’s what’s best for Buster, but stories where companions part ways always makes me sad. Even when it’s for the best. You use a good person. I’m sure he’s alright somewhere
He's so cute and gorgeous! The yellow in his shell and the orange, curious eyes... absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! His eyes look like they are filled with love and energy. What a precious boi. 😊
I had a box turtle that acted like this one and absolutely loved it. It wasn’t scared of no one and never went inside of it’s shell to hide, would follow us around and loved hanging out with us.
So glad to see so many similar comments. My terrapin is really friendly too.. he doesn’t follow us around but he walks around the house, greets visitors by doing a “kiss the leg” gesture and new pets by going near them and observing them or trying to kiss them but my other pets ain’t that friendly 😂. Also he knows when I’m sad
Otis looks like he was either trained or grew up around a dog. I saw him lift a foot when he's on his haunches and your hand was out while talking; maybe he knows how to 'shake' :) Thanks for sharing this character with us.
I have a red ear slider who does this, I never had dogs. Just like Ottis, my turtle prefers humans over his own kind. She likes being petted on her shell and by me, on her head too.
That’s incredible. His old owners obviously treated him as one of the family and normalized having regular intimate contact with people. He almost is asking to be petted and picked up lol. He’s going to make a great community ambassador for your park
I had a bull frog that was similar to Otis! He greeted us (from his tank) when we came home. He'd sing to music and really liked Janice Joplin! He was hand feed and socialable.. I cried when he passed away after 10 years of being with us.
He looks like he is giving you his “ paw “ lol .he certainly brings this old saying to mind “ he has been HERE before “ he is SO FASCINATED in everything all around him THATS for sure . He is UTTERLY FASCINATING to watch ,I can only IMAGINE what it must be like to actually OWN HIM !
I truly hope you will continue to take daily personal one on one loving interaction with Otis and that he isn’t treated as one of your ‘average’ turtles. Clearly like him, he had the most wonderful unique, owners (parents) that I believe interacted with him daily… Like I did with our precious, unique mini rex rabbit. (who Just went to Rainbow Bridge, 13 years old) I believe it’s what this special God given creature deserves. They have emotional feelings too 👍 Thank you for caring for all the creatures and now, especially Otis. Please don’t overwork or expose him. 🙏
You can tell Otis spend a lot of time out hanging with previous owner's and those owners loved him. He is going to make great ambassador for the box turtle world. Maybe one day a female will catch his eye and baby Otis's will be brought in to the world. I know my girls watch us when we walk by there enclosure mostly looking for a feed but they do listen to you when you talk to them. GOD BLESS 🐢💖🐢💖🐢💖 P.s. please keep us up to date on Otis's adventures with you and family.
I felt as if I was watching a turtle I had a few decades ago. Found him at a Nor Cali lake, about the size of a nickel. There were no other turtles around and he stayed near us for hours. We had a couple different friends that owned pet/aquatic stores and figured they could instruct us and they did. We had a sweet boxer dog at the time, so he learned from her. My boyfriend built a wood platform around an old large farm sink, completing his home with rocks, plants and water. We named him Tommy T Turtle and he imitated our dog too, acting just like Ottis, except he would eat grubs and other goodies from us. When he was roaming the house and one of us walked into the room and called "Tommyyyyy ...." he would whip around, nearly jumping and come running to us. After some time, on instruction of our pet shop friends, much training, bringing out more of his wild instincts, so he could fin for himself, he was released back into the lake so he could enjoy having a family of his own. He was strong and healthy, swimming with the entire group of friends and children for hours, swimming away off and on. Seeing he was content with his new home, he swam away, exploring and joining other turtles. What an unforgettable character!
He's amazing! He reminds me of a toddler that puts their arms up to get picked up haha. It was an obvious invitation 😂 Also, he really really looked like he had something to say and needed your undivided attention before decided to share . He is beyond cool!
I believe Otis is trying to study the faces he sees hoping to see the one he's never going to see again. It may not so-much be a sad thing as much as the sign of a curious/active mind. Of course we'll never know 4sure. That's just my personal best guess.
How great it is, that you love Otis' personality and also remember he needs 'tortoise time' ! While the video is clever, you really do a wonderful job showcasing his abilities! Thanks for the smiles !
I love turtles! This little guy is absolutely amazing how he interacts with you. Otis shows a lot of personality for sure. I think when he raises his head up like he does, he wants kisses.
The reason Otis holds his head up in the air like that 2:02 is because he wants you to pick him up to be held and cuddled like a baby. Why? For comfort. His previous owners probably did that with him when the other turtles were being mean to him.
thats a good point, if offsprings can inherit his couriosity not only we will have nice tortoise breed, also this can be good study about brain development
Aww Otis is awesome! I feel bad for the previous owner, either surrendering him because they can’t take care of them anymore or may have passed away. Seems like a well loved pet turtle and not one someone would have easily given up. Glad he’s in the best hands now and will get lots of human interactions!
My redfoot tortoise acts a LOT like this, and I've had him for about as long. He will come to the front of his enclosure every morning once I turn on the light for him. He's the best.
I love your channel! It brings me so much joy! My daughter Matilda has a Tortoise named BayBee! She's so precious and fun. I had no idea these reptiles were so personable. She loves attention. I love Otis.
Lovely! A few years back I was hired by a friend as an organic permaculture gardener to set up some raised beds, in central California. My friend had a huge tortoise who followed me around the entire time engaging with me! So amazed by the intelligence and personality it had.
I fell in love with Otis in about 2 seconds. He made me subscribe so I can see more of him.❤️ I’m glad he’s with you because he is so friendly I’d hate for someone that is mean to have him.👏🏽🐢
Otis looks like he wants a kiss! Haha There must have been a specific treat or maybe a human food that their previous owner fed him mouth to mouth? He's so precious 💚

Yeah. But he looks so frustrated, like this new owner doesn't know what he's waiting for... and he doesn't.
He looks like he's reaching up for a kiss.
What a uniquely friendly tortoise.
Last time mine bite my lips lmao
One latched on to my son’s finger once and I thought I’d never get it to let go. My son began to have tears rolling down his face it hurt so bad. He was about 8. We just found it in the backyard, brought it in and put a very small amount of water in the bathtub, and just admired it for a little bit. I picked it up to put it back outside and my son pet its little head and BAM. He’s grown now and will never forget it and will never pet another.
@@lepindre9193 😂😂😂
Not a tortoise but more closely-related to aquatic and semi-aquatic species. Probably the closest living relatives are in Asia and their life-style is more aquatic than Otis's mostly terrestrial life-style.
His previous family must have really loved this guy for him to act like that ❤️
What a cutie pie! I’m so impressed with how personable Otis is. I look forward to seeing more of him.
This really isn't that special(I mean of course it's special to have the love of an animal but this isn't that unique).. we had so many turtles even 2 Eastern box turtles and many of them are like this, even tortoises.
He’s gonna be completely lost in a big pen without continuous human interaction
I also question the wisdom of taking him out of a human setting. Must be a real sad backstory on his previous human.
I thought the same. He needs to be around people.
I just said the SAME thing to my husband! He obviously prefers the constant love & attention of humans :-)
They said he's going to be ambassador turtle that works with kids. I bet he gets plenty of attention.
@@bobertjones2300 yeah he just wants to be picked up...
“Please… help me. I’ve been turned into a turtle by an ancient curse. I have a wife and children… please…”
😂😂😂😂
Great, now I can’t think of this as anything other than that
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
NICE!
😂🤣😂
He’s a reminder that all species are to respected and not underestimated.
I Love Otis. He is so adorable. Never have seen a turtle so loving and watchful..
Same my turtles always try to bite me
He’s asking to be held when he stares at you like that!
Yes it's obvious! It's so sad thst they don't get it.. poor otis
Try giving him some affection. I bet that's what he's looking for and thats what he's used to. Kissing and cuddling💕💕 what a little doll he is!
Nooooo that's gay talk
He’s precious as can be!
Yes, I was waiting for the man to actually give him a little more affection or let him get closer to his body. Hopefully, the children will provide more affection.
@@edemontfort9482 yes. He needs all the hugs!!!

Can you be a little nicer ? What’s wrong with you ?
Don’t bring your narrow minded thoughts, especially when a human try to connect with animals . 😠
I had one of these (different type of turtle with the red line on the sides). Had him for 5 years and he did these things. He followed me and I found him remarkable. Till this day he is the best pet I ever had. I thought I was alone on my experience. This video brings back all those memories. They are very intelligent.
Building bonds and building that trust with reptiles is truly amazing 🐢💚
Hey I know you
Tell that to snakes!
Amphibian
tortoise whisperer is here.
I watch ur tik toks
I had a desert tortoise who acted like that. His name was Franklin (like the kid's tv show). But he was FASTer than expected and He was so active and wanted to go roaming so much that I ended up sticking a Velcro square on the top of his shell and sewed a square on the end of a lightweight thin leash in replacement of the normal metal clip. Then we were able to go on walks around the hills and neighborhood on nice days without me worrying about losing him or him getting hurt. He loved it.
Aw nice. What happened to him?
@@rzella8022 I had him about 5 years but then had to re-home him when I moved.
@@amberenergyhealertarot6617 I’m glad you had him in your life for the time you did. I hate to hear he had to be rehomed. I’ve had to do it and I still hate it just as much today as I did then.
Great idea! So nice having a turtle that has a really outgoing personality!👍😁
That's absolutely EPIC
He wasn’t just someone’s pet, he was a family member! ♥️
Yes! And that's why his soul is so strongly developed and in tune with people.
I agree! He is MORE than a turtle. Hope he gets extra love and affection he needs and wants! 😊❤️
He wants to hang out too with the family 👪
Wow! yes!
What a darling, personable little creature! :)
Otis is so adorable I love the way he looks into your eyes and interacts, he's clearly unique and special!!
His beautiful eyes are piercing. Even through the camera it looks as though he's looking deep into your soul. Just amazing.
Such a sweet story
So sweet!
I had a red-eared terrapin as a youngster, who was very personable and smart. I love these creatures 🐢
When I was a kid, my dad rescued a terrapin turtle with damaged feet. He had quite the personality, he loved classical music and watching TV with us. He loved to watch the old Japanese movies about gamara the monster turtle, lol!
@Curtis Marean
I love your story, especially the part at the end about your terrapin turtle watching old Japanese movies about "Garama". 🐢😂😜😸
That is so cute and funny ☺️🤣😹🐢
🐢 lol
That was actually really nice. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing story, hope he is fine...
Oh I love your story. Thank you
This is too sweet!
That is pretty sad. I know it’s what’s best for Buster, but stories where companions part ways always makes me sad. Even when it’s for the best. You use a good person. I’m sure he’s alright somewhere
Oh my goodness he's so sweet. He's reaching up like he wants to be held and loved on! I love him!!
He is definitely communicating. He is an ambassador for his kind. You can see the love 💕
🐢 ❤
@peace Which part of the comment did you edit?
Mine is pretty unique as well. Have owned him for 53 years. Walks around my condo like it's his. Actually, I think he holds the mortgage.
That's amazing! Good for you guys!
@@queen_minnieme8321 my dog doesnt even act like that
😂😂😂
Sounds amazing do you have any video of him? 😄
Imagine just walking near a pond, and seeing a random turtle beelining towards you 😂
Was glad to see you finally pick him up! He seemed to be wanting to be held and carried, asking insistently.
Otis is a natural treasure. Hope he continues to live a happy life.
Wow Otis what a sweet little dude!! Turtles are typically not affectionate creatures, would be so amazing to pet Otis.
there was a time my little turtle was digging in my hand and then kept looking at me it was the cutest thing ever
That’s incredible. His old owners obviously treated him as one of the family and normalized having regular intimate contact with people. He almost is asking to be petted and picked up lol. He’s going to make a great community ambassador for your park
OUR they will be able to sell lots of Ottis T-shirts
Autocorrect changed my IKR to Our for some stupid reason
He's amazing and adorable. Hope he has many more years to shine.
I love him already, you can tell he is inteligent and inquisitive.
"Observe, analyse and conquer" thats the motivation of this turtle!
I had a bull frog that was similar to Otis! He greeted us (from his tank) when we came home. He'd sing to music and really liked Janice Joplin! He was hand feed and socialable.. I cried when he passed away after 10 years of being with us.
🐸 awww ❤
So sweet 🥲
_so sweet._ 🐸 🥹💕
I’m so sorry. Also, wow! I had no idea frogs lived that long!
Awww...what a cute little guy!!
He's gonna love meeting all those kids as an ambassador. Great work you're doing guys.
Otis's color combination is gorgeous and his personality is amazing. A shelled puppy. 🐢❤
Yeah. They should've named him "Shell-don"!!
Hee hee.
Can't get enough of Otis!!
Didn't stop smiling through that, so very cute.
Otis is so special keep him following you and healthy. He’s amazing the way he locks eyes with you. He’s a lovable soul.
That's what I thought....like he's trying to shake hands so to speak.
i own a Sulcata Tortoise and he's special beyond expectation. He's turning 10 in August.
I love Otis he’s so adorable he definitely has a little soul deep inside he is a happy turtle and well loved👍❤️
Otis is absolutely adorable! I hope you show him often. That face is so lovable.
He was definitely loved and spent probably lots of time with his previous owners
he has warmed all our hearts
You can tell Otis spend a lot of time out hanging with previous owner's and those owners loved him. He is going to make great ambassador for the box turtle world. Maybe one day a female will catch his eye and baby Otis's will be brought in to the world. I know my girls watch us when we walk by there enclosure mostly looking for a feed but they do listen to you when you talk to them.
GOD BLESS 🐢💖🐢💖🐢💖
P.s. please keep us up to date on Otis's adventures with you and family.
Wow! Never seen a turtle so attentive. Otis is awesome. 🐢
Or one that makes intense eye contact lol
What a beautiful story, animals just want to be loved.
He's trying to communicate with you. That is so wonderful!
Gotta love Otis. Sure wish he could talk. Would love to hear what he has to say. Awesome video.
He’s so cute! And he wants affection! He obviously had a lot of love and attention!!!
Otis the soul seeking turtle! 🐢 Love him!❤
How great it is, that you love Otis' personality and also remember he needs 'tortoise time' !
🥺😢
i thought that too. he wants cuddles. people are warm
i like the way his head bobbles a little every step he takes
To bad he doesn't like other box turtles, would be interesting to breed him and see if that awareness is inherited.
Breeding season instincts may take over for a bit and that could lead to breeding. I do like that idea of maybe his offspring inheriting some of that.
thats a good point, if offsprings can inherit his couriosity not only we will have nice tortoise breed, also this can be good study about brain development
no u can teach it. my turtles did that for treets n kisses
It all depends on how you treat the 🐢
Looks like it's more of an environmental factor and how he was raised, maybe from babyhood ✌🏼🙏🏼✨
Aww Otis is awesome! I feel bad for the previous owner, either surrendering him because they can’t take care of them anymore or may have passed away. Seems like a well loved pet turtle and not one someone would have easily given up. Glad he’s in the best hands now and will get lots of human interactions!
My thoughts too!!
Otis is so sweet! I can’t wait to see more of him and all of the other creatures in your care❣️
We have to treat every animal with kindness. His personality and temperament is so unique.
My redfoot tortoise acts a LOT like this, and I've had him for about as long. He will come to the front of his enclosure every morning once I turn on the light for him. He's the best.
It’s like he wants to see through to your deepest secrets, or he just wants to go into you somehow. So cute!! Must be a blessing to hang out with💚
I love your channel!
Otis looks like he has been interacting with humans for a long time.
I fell in love with Otis in about 2 seconds. He made me subscribe so I can see more of him.❤️ I’m glad he’s with you because he is so friendly I’d hate for someone that is mean to have him.👏🏽🐢
Otis is just so lovely to see
He must of been raised with just humans and probably a dog. I don’t think he realizes what other turtles are to him. He is very special. ❤️ 🐢
Otis looks like he wants a kiss! Haha
There must have been a specific treat or maybe a human food that their previous owner fed him mouth to mouth?
He's so precious 💚
I never thought a turtle could act so cute. He will make regular appearances.
Otis is a loving pet. I hope he continues to get the daily human interaction he craves.
I've never seen a turtle do this it's really unusual, but Lovely. It's like he's always looking up at you and the kids. Really like a dog, even the way he follows you ❤️
He is the sweetest, cutest turtle 🐢 ever lol. He looks like he just really wants some loves!! ❤️

About 30-35 years ago, I caught an eastern box turtle. It looked exactly like Otis. We took him home and he was a pet for a few years. My mother always tells stories about that turtle following me around the house and yard like a dog. Seeing Otis always reminds me of that turtle. He was very special and a great pet. I hope that turtle is still doing well.
