Can someone please tell me how to melt down scrap gold jewelry without it getting all wrinkled and discolored? I know because of oxidation and firescale etc, there will be discoloration from that. But the gold also gets brittle and super hard. I tried checking for solder joints beforehand but i suppose i may have missed a few. But I've also watched so many videos where jewelers just threw all the jewelry into a crucible even with solder ed jewelry like chains and not have s ingle problem ive mentioned. Idk. Im sorry for the long rambling question. Just a bit confused and frustrated right now looking at a wrinkled ugly lump of black/brown/red gold.
