Literally all they have to do is bruteforce 1 move ahead to see if anything super stupid will happen. It's not even necessary to calculate all lines playable or more than 1 RNG outcome. Just look at 1 thing that might happen if a certain card is played...

I do love the Ferocity pack for druid - Feral Gibberer is basically an extra treasure if you get it during taverns, and get the right upgrades for it (in particular stat buffs, though Right Hand Man is also huge). Easily won the first run I did with druid getting the Gibberer treasure, and almost won a run with it again last night - basically took the final merchant district boss winning a 20% brawl to actually get rid of them all.
Because he chose which slot he was playing the boom bot into through the client, it said 'play in slot 4' so when it summoned things, it then summed it into slot 4

I used exiler of vim in a big druid, relying on the quest to get cheap stuff, and I never had the scepter. I almost lost the final round until I was able to comeback with cheap giant minions.
He has Elixir of Vim and picks Ultimate Infestation which draws him 10 cards... seems like an absolutely smart decision with no possible downsides whatsoever.
I laugh so bad at this. Especially when Khadgar did it to me. They summon Medivh, get Atiesh, the staff of the greatest Mage ever with a powerful ability, and they use it to deal 1 damage to face.
That's what happens when your bosses have absolute shit AI. That's the one thing that stopped me from doing the solo adventures more, the fact that a lot of time I can win just because the AI is suicidal and finds a way to lose by milling itself, making bad trades, killing it's own minions with spells and more, it destroys a lot of the fun for me 90% fo the time, the other 10% it's a meme.
If the AI played to the best of its abilities,no one would get through HC,take the latest Kripparian video where he exploits “ring the bells”, well there’s a boss that can do that combo too,and that’s one example

Casts when draw are not treated like spells in that way, it is why book of specters does not discard them but actually cast them and keeps drawing.
