@@PerpetualSushi They might play meta decks but they are still bad players. Don't blame the decks, improve your play. You don't need to have a meta deck to get to rank 10 or even 5
@@Roarih you're right but you're also wrong. Yes I could be better, yes I make questionable plays sometimes but meta decks lower the skill required. Token druid for example is like old odd Pali You've got to keep the board clear but it's so cheap and easy for them to replenish and buff unless I have drawn the exact cards I need I lose. That's not skill it's luck. I enjoy controlling and manipulating the board not just mindlessly buffing and smashing into the enemy. I would say my win/loss is even but its just not fun getting smashed repeatedly in the face and losing before I can even level out and gain control
@@PerpetualSushi yes I agree aggro/swarm decks are annoying. But low rank players make so many terrible plays even with those brainless decks. I've never even been legend but I always have like 70-80% winrate at those ranks with a shitty deck like espionage rogue
It would be really cool if this turned into a series where Toast adds 1 or 2 slightly more expensive cards at a time to show how a player can evolve a f2p deck into something more expensive, but more competitive as well.

Thanks Toast for making these kinds of decks. As a new player, it feels really hard to get into Hearthstone without spending money, and these videos really do help. Please keep making these kinds of videos every once in a while!
Honestly, card games are really brutal for new players after a few years, at least for the eternal format. The best recommendation I have to keep up w/ dust requirements is to always disenchant the obviously bad cards, and also prioritize getting good classic cards so you'll always have something to play even if you take a break for a few years.

i did a big mistake past few years by disenchanting my legendaries. so never disenchant them. never. ever.

Mage is a much more consistent class.

@@MYG What are you talking about? Hunter and Warlock Zoo are the best decks F2P players use. Mage isn't that budget friendly especially in the current meta for instance you need Antonidas as the finisher which Zoo and Hunter don't need.

This video gives me genuine nostalgia for the Naxx/ GvG days when I played nothing but hybrid hunter for months, right in that sweet spot post undertaker nerf but well before the leper gnome/ abusive sergeant nerfs.
I enjoy these Toast videos much more than the usual ones. The ones where he walks folks through his thought processes and such, shows he's good at educational type videos.

Well, just found this out a couple hours ago, started from rank 20 now on a win streak to 14. Thanks toast.
It took me a while, but I'm 15. I feel good.
Whenever I play this deck my hand is empty by turn like 5 or 6 and I just run out of steam and can't finish, but everyone else who plays midrange Hunter has a full hand on turn 10
This type of hunter also works very good with scalehide + dire frenzy for sustain and clear sometimes

i was running a very similar deck with about a 60% win rate, i updated it to yours but took out a highmane and added leroy now im at about 70% my losses are my own fault normally not playing the cards correctly but i is learning and loving the complex strats.

You can take off Rexxar and the 9 drop and replace it with another 4 drop frenzy, and even better : unleash the beast (didn't have enough dust to craft it).
FULL COMMON CARDS except 2 SAVANNAH, 1 legendary REXXAR & 1 Call of the wild.
5:48 He says you can make up for not having master's call by running savannah and unleash the beast. I took out both unleash and am running 2 master's call

What would be the first thing to put in to upgrade the deck
You can actualy get by with token druid. Vargoth is Free, you just have to cut whispering Woods, Crystalsong portal and the keeper, everything else is either Common or rare. You can replace the 5 missing cards with mycrobot techno (i think that's the Name? It's a 5 mana 2/1 that summons 2 1/1's), direwolf alpha, hogsteed, mechanguru...there are substitutes. It's not as cheap as this one in the video, but I would argue it's stronger.
