    Agree with what others have said, Mike. Leaving in all the little mess-ups that we all make adds great value to your presentations. Some well-known turners NEVER make a mistake in a video - which, to me, means they edit them out. Thanks for being humble.

    Thanks for the great project, Mike. I really like that you leave all of your mistakes, (uhh, design changes), in the video. The catches, the running gouge, making the tenon too small, these are real-life issues for someone like me. And you are good enough to make a joke about it and laugh at yourself. You are a wonderful instructor and it would be an honor for anyone who was fortunate enough to take one of your classes.

    Nice job and a nice piece. Your work is always perfection. Any suggestions for those of us that don’t have the huge four jaw chuck you have so the piece can still have the wide base. Thank you

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On the base, leave enough material so that you can turn away the tenon when finishing the bottom of the box if using a smaller chuck. For holding the lid, you could turn a small recess on the underside of the lid to expand into.

  • @amyhoward1439
    @amyhoward1439 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When you used a scraping cut with the flute closed to true up the end before hollowing the piece. Did you just have the lower wing contact the wood? Assuming if the top wing had contact there would be a catch.

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Scraping with the flute closed is cutting with the lower wing. You can also drop the handle a bit and get more of a "slicing" cut if you need to leave a cleaner surface.

    Ecologically, the bio brick has a bigger carbon footprint.
    That said, the bio brick turns a waste stream into a fuel source and potentially offsetting their own carbon footprint by reducing fossil fuel consumption
    They are handy, my 78 year old parents find them handy for starting the fire - 3 bricks in a table arrangement will light with a match and durn long and hot enough to just add logs.
