this video was so nicely put together I came back to watch it four times throughout the day! potentially adding mooncat illusionist to my distant wishlist :'D in case anyone feels like they have tried a lot of different techniques and it still doesnt give a satisfying effect, i wanted to share one way of magnetizing for a velvet/shifty effect (fairly foolproof but results will vary depending on your magnet setup and nail shape) and that involves utilizing either a rod or a stack of round magnets. i have mine attached to a regular nail magnet tool at a diagonal because that's how the magnets naturally stick to each other. you can experiment but i usually do these three steps (aka magnet movements): 1. pull magnet to one side of nail bed so that particles come up toward that area 2. pull magnet to other side of nail bed to get the same effect 3. pick either the cuticle or tip of your nail, and hover / draw small arc motions near it. this will pull the particles so that you get a very bright, curved arch towards whatever end you chose to hover your magnet close to, and when you curl/flex your finger you will see the brightness shift up and down the nail in a very noticeable way. 4. (optional) if the coat is super thick and you have more time, you can also move the magnet along the sides of your nail again to pull up a stronger arch of brightness but I spend the most time keeping my magnet stationary in the position at step 3. it takes a lot of finessing and i usually try to do this in good lighting but not Strong lighting so that i can see where the particles are moving and not just a flat area of shimmer! i try to hold my magnets for 20-30 seconds on each coat and hold it for 40-60 seconds on the top coat. the effects may flatten a little but they will be the most visible in indirect lighting or any lighting that's coming from in front of you rather than behind you
omg thank you!! i love that you enjoyed it enough to rewatch it throughout the day 🥹🫶🏼 and yess totally would wait for one of their next Lunar Sales to pick up illusionist! amd wow thank you soo much for also providing these tips!! i actually would try a similar method sometimes when just pulling it away on one side doesnt do much lol, it really does help to hit at least the left and right sides! but so good to know that actually hitting the top and bottom can also really improve the look, esp doing those small arc motions. 🤩 have you noticed this method work the same across diff brands/polishes? i do wonder if there are certain factors like the magnetic shimmer or even the bases that can get in the way.. definitely some finessing required but its worth it imo! 😅🤩✨
Mooncat and ILNP magnetics are great!! I loved ILNP's cosmos & nightlife magnetics, and Mooncat's Apollo & Madhatter are some of my favorites from them! Im so sad that they're retiring Apollo 😭
i sadly haven’t tried any of the Nightlife magnetics from ILNP but they look gorgeous! i think High Roller is my fav 🤤 and omg i knowwww I was devastated when I saw their announcement!! such bad timing lol 😭😭
I can't deal with Enchantment honestly 😅😅 by that I mean it's almost too distracting when I wear it. Also 100% agree on the cat eye style > velvet. The contrast of the concentrated shimmer and the deep teal squishy base 🤩
LOL its just TOOO good!! 😝 and right, doing the collages at the end made me realize how amazing they all look with cat eye effects! lovee the contrast so much, esp in Enchantment 🤤
Magnetics are my favorite finish. I discovered them (and indie nail polish in general) this year. I'm addicted. I have a problem. They are so so so beautiful and unique and the process of applying them makes me feel so relaxed.
Oooh you know that’s a good idea! I forgot to mention Chemistry from Cirque Colors which is like a silvery topper, but I love the idea of Sandbar being a slightly warmer version! Definitely will need to try it over some lighter colors
Thank you for this very informative video to me. I just heard about magnetic nail polish a few weeks ago. I must have been hiding under a rock 😂. Well anyway since I do my own nails I never really pay attention to all that nail stuff. But I like this magnetic nail polish and I will be trying this out.
I think you may be the first (unaffiliated) person I've heard say they actually like the HT magnetics. I'll admit I'm one of the people who had a really bad experience like you mentioned, but mine extended to the green and brown as well. Yours pulled way more of a line than mine ever did, even using the same method of holding the nail on top of the magnet. I'll have to try the velvet effect to see if mine react, yours looked lovely!
yeah I felt so bad after my initial review where I was like i love them! and everyone else was disappointed lol its a shame there was such a discrepancy in batches, even one of my friends got a dud Twice in a Blue Moon where it did not move at all! i’m so sorry to hear yours extended to the green and brown too, i really thought it was mainly the blue and purple that had those issues (though they all are generally on the thick side). did you try to get a replacement, or add thinner to yours? from what i remember adding thinner. helped! i definitely would love to know if you try the velvet effect though, it really is so pretty 🤩
I don't wear pinks but oh my god Velvet Rose in velvet effect blew me away 🤯 I might have to try it.... Love Enchantment and Zero Degrees! Also actually really like Poison from ILNP, I don't really wear red either but it's so dark that I did end up liking it. Edit: and YES to Clairvoyant! And also Good Vibes Only from the same collection, I wish they'd brought those back alongside BAE.
Isn’t it insaaane!! I was so happy with how it turned out 🤩🤩🤩 oh yes Poison (and Venom) are really great too, it’s been a while since I wore them! Def love a darrrk red 🤤 & yesss so glad you agree about Clairvoyant!! Omg I would be happy to have Good Vibes Only tooo UGH.
Omg this is such an awesome video!! First of all - just wanted to thank you for doing every polish in no effects, velvet AND cat eye. I can’t even imagine how much work that would’ve been, and it really showed! That last bit with all the polishes together…chef’s kiss. Magnetics is such a tricky formula - I really want to love them and always end up picking up a few, but the level of investment to the level of pay out makes it hard for me to reach for them at times (especially with the cat eye effects having some degree of dissipation). I am trying more and more velvet effects to see if I like the polishes or not though. I recently tried the Reddit three magnet hacks on Cirque’s BAE - but I’m not sure if it’s the polish itself, the velvet turned out really flat and lost the dimensionality. I’ll probably have to try it with another polish to see. Would love to see you try it at some point though!! :p
thank you soo much!! haha yeah it was def time consuming 😅 but definitely worth it, I’m really glad you appreciated seeing them swatched each way and the collages too! i totally hear you, doing a full magnetic mani could easily take hours!! and yeah not to mention they end up diffusing.. I can see what you mean about that where the velvet technique also dissipates and ends up flat, I’m pretty sure its happened to me too and i think its just the nature of magnetics unfortunately, but I still think if you hold the magnet for at least a minute it’ll hold in place and last a little longer. i’ve seen that hack too but haven’t tried it! have you seen people apparently are just buying those U shaped magnets lol they seem to work really well too! 🤩 i think those magnets are also stronger too so it would work a lot better!
In regards to the nail polish you mentioned, I know what you mean! I was actually going to comment that Cirque's BAE + Halo being my first magnetics nearly stopped me from trying any other magnetics because no matter how much I practiced magnetizing them they always flattened....I think those two shades specifically don't hold the velvet effect at all because with other polishes in the brand like Eye of the Beholder or Delphinium I've managed to get velvety/shifty effects that actually stay :0 I'd never heard of the reddit three magnet hack until reading your comment though so thank you! I will give that a go too
I've been testing that 3 magnet hack and feeling like it looks a bit flat too! I tried it with ILNP Enchantment and Fawn. I feel like I can see the effect from the side of the nail, but straight on it just looks metallic to me...I think I might actually prefer Stefanie's velvet magnetization method, it looks more dimensional to me on screen, but I need to test it out!
Yeah that’s definitely smart to do!! It’s just a shame bc I love the base color of Mood Ring & Eye of Beholder but I feel like I don’t have exact matching bases you know. But they are great magnetics for sure!
so glad you love fairy tail too!! 🤎🤎 i feel like its the least popular of all their magnetics and makes me so sad lol so glad you love it & the cat eyes, theyre soo pretty!
I literally am obsessed with Cirque's magnetics, especially the ones you showed here. I also have some ILNP and Mooncat magnetics, and although they're certainly pretty in velvet form (I have a 30 pound magnet, which is a must), none of them in velvet are as smooth and fiery and shifty as my Cirque ones! I just took Paradox off yesterday, only because my Star Wars Mooncat magnetics are finally on the way...but I really just want to put Paradox back on!!
The What's Up Nails one 😍 also - justice for ILNP's Shooting Star (a showstopper in cat-eye!) and Amber (underrated, it's showstopping in aura!) 🔥 also i learned how to do the aura style from ur vids actl! 😆 so thank you again for that 😁
I just put on Shooting Star today to give it some love!! It really is super gorgeous. I do have to give Amber a shot again, I didn’t love it at first 🙈 but yay I’m glad you learned how to do velvet nails!! They’re soo pretty to do ✨
im just laughing all of us in the thread basically bullied you into putting Shooting Star back on 😂 i didn't really enjoy Amber in cat-eye either! hope u'd like it more in the aura style ✨
you don't know how ill I felt when I received my mooncat order and realized that I had forgotten MC Velvet Rose. Screaming! Crying! Went through a box full of tissue sad! I'm so glad it wasn't in their 20 discontinuing shades. Hoping it's still around for the next sale, it's currently out of stock. I saw a reddit post that said Starrily had the best magnetics of all polish brands and lots of people agreed. So that's something to consider if you end up doing a purchase/video/etc from them.
aw noooo i’m so sorry! but yes the silver lining is that it should be restocked soon, I’m still devastated over all the other they’re retiring, I shared soo many of them in other favorites videos! 😭😭 and omg yeah! I’ve only tried Starrily Pluto before and it was gooorgeous, I def would love to try more of them 🤩✨
Mooncat illusionist was one of my first mooncat polishes and I tried it velveted for the first time a few months ago and omg new favorite for sure. Also love HT Fairy Tail and Menchie Cat Eye. They make a beautiful magnetic skittle with Zyler Cat Eye. I definitely prefer to use Cirque’s magnetics in the velvet effect bc of their sheer jelly bases. I recently bought their silver magnetic Chemistry and it’s really easy to add one layer of it to create a silver magnetic line or velvet over any other polish bc the base is clear!
yay i love that!! its super gorgeous 🤩 i’m glad you also love Menchie Cat Eye & Fairy Tail too! omg my jaw dropped imagining that skittle, I love!!! and ahhh I totally should’ve mentioned Chemistry too!! its soo cool for essentially making your own magnetics, I love layering that between/on top of some of their jellies!
Such a great line-up! If I recall, you haven't used much of Starrily before, but if you like green, then their Absinthe is just sick in its colour and magnetism 🤩 I just took it off today and it is so stunning, I paired it with Mooncat's This is a Storm Warning. So, so cozy together ❤
Ahh yes that’s true! I only tried Starrily recently and only Pluto for their magnetics, it was still super gorgeous though!! I def would love to try a few more of them! I can see how Absinthe & This Is A Storm Warning would be so cozy together 💚🩶
Love all your picks! 😍 You totally got me hooked on the ILNP magnetics for sure! I have all of those you mentioned except Be Mine. I’m gonna have to add that one to my wishlist. 💕 So beautiful! I also was not always drawn to the typical cat eye with magnetics, but when you showed me how to do the velvet effect it opened a whole new world for me! And now I super love them! 🥰
thank you Janet!! i love that we have such similar tastes hehe so exciting you’ll be adding Be Mine to your wishlist! ❣️ and i knoww velvet nails are the best right?! 😝🤩 though i have become quite a sucker for cat eyes, they just look soo cool!
@@PolishedYogi Yes! I love love love a good velvet effect! And the cat eyes especially on the darker polishes are growing on me. Usually I do one hand with each effect 😜.
I gasped in shared excitement when you mentioned Cirques Clairvoyant in the end! I have been begging the whole universe for this to come back, I would buy two of those! I too prefer the velvet effect and I always lean towards earthy colors, green is my fave. I was on the fence about HT's Fairy Tail because I was worried the magnet effect would'nt be obvious enough but you may have convinced me! Their recent magnetics are better but yes the green from the first collection I adore as well. Also, I wore Mooncat's Your Hearts a Black Hole for the first time recently as a christmas mani with velvet effect but I used a very thick last coat and the velvet effect was gorgeous and lasted really strong as well. So that might indeed be it? Magnetics are just tedious but if they work they're worth the effort a million percent imo. Anyways awesome job on this upload! You have put so much work into this video, really appreciate that you showed the different finishes!
i think cirque was really ahead of their time with that collection lol! i genuinely think it would do so well if they brought a few of them back too 🥲 and i totally get you, I know a lot of people have had issues with the HT magnetics but I think Fairy Tail is in the clear for the most part! and yesss to velvetizing Your Hearts a Black Hole for Christmas!! totally reminds me of satin ribbons, ugh just so pretty! yeah I really do notice a difference when it’s a thicker coat for sure ✨ and thank you so much! it def was time consuming lol but i really appreciate that 🥰🫶🏼
Thank you so much for this video ❤❤❤ I wish I could find a similar video for the solid gel polishes. Learning techniques & how many layers are necessary, etc etc
aw so glad you enjoyed! there are definitely videos/tutorials on youtube for working with gel magnetic polishes!! I never tried them myself but they look beautiful and the effect lasts much longer than with regular polish!
I have been binge watching your favourite nail polishes video and I was so excited to see this get uploaded!! I love seeing your favourites as some often overlap with mine and I end up finding new polishes to add to my wishlist. From these I also was obsessed with ILNP Be Mine and ILNP Fawn. I agree with Cirque's magnetics looking a lot more 'boring' than the ones with added extras, which is why I kind of regret picking up Cirque's Mood Ring over ILNP's Enchantment (I don't have easy access to HT from Europe). However, it is really stunning velvetized still and they are quite different, so maybe I'll pick up Enchantment still later. ILNP's Fairy Forest Collection is just so good! I might also try just adding some extra toppers to Mood Ring, but I'll see, because as you said, it's already a lot of work just magnetizing haha.
Aw yay, I’m so glad you’ve been loving that series!! Especially this video hehe 🥰 and ahh I’m sorry you feel some regret over Mood Ring, but I’m totally with you, I’m just soo much more drawn to those extra little flakies in ILNP! But right they both can still look great depending on the method. Ooh maybe if you do a cat eye with Mood Ring, you can add a flakie topper after a day or so! Just so it’s not as daunting to paint your nails for so long, I did something similar last year using one of HT’s Unicorn Skins to extend the life of Fairy Tail haha 🙈
Such great picks! Definitely love Mooncat's magnetics, especially when they include the holo glitter like in Illusionist. 🤩 I also really love Cirque's magnetics, but find they need to be built up unmagnetized in 2 coats for opacity and then magnetized on the 3rd to look good! I'm glad you mentioned the Aura collection at the end cause it's SO GOOD. I have Clairvoyent and Oracle and they are stunning, I don't understand why Cirque hasn't brought them back yet!!
Thank you!! Glad you love them 🥰 and yess aren’t the extra sparkles just soo pretty! I know mooncat has also made some really pretty magnetics with reflectives which I liked too, I’m sad my favs have been retired though 🥲 that makes sense to just magnetize the last layer, I’ve only really tried it for velvet nails but have heard it works for cat eyes too! So that’s good to know, would save SO much time lol. And omg right!! It’s funny because I guess they did try to bring back some light magnetics with the bubbly collection last year, but it was such a flop 🫣😭 they didn’t need to mess with the originals!! It does surprise me Clairvoyant wasn’t brought back with BAE, I honestly would’ve preferred it over Halo 😬
Ok yes totally agree with ILNP Enchantment 🥰!! I always get compliments when I wear this shade! Pretty sure I bought it after seeing it in one of your videos❤
Love these! I’m super new to magnetics- and very tentative tbh. I don’t wear them much… yet lol The only ones I have from this list are Holo taco: Menchie cat eye and ILNP Fawn. Those Are literally my favorites of the few magnetics I have right meow, so you nailed it lol This video makes me want to get ILNP’s Enchantment and Be Mine, Cirque Mood Ring and Cassiopeia, and MC Velvet Rose 😍 💗💕
I totally get that! I honestly don’t wear mine enough 😅 but yay for having and loving Menchie Cat Eye & Fawn!! Let me know if you do end up grabbing any of those other ones 😍☺️
Oh my goood !!!!! The velvet effect on multichromes ?!!!!! It's gorgeous ! I had never seen it until today !!! I am SO doing it next time I do my nails ! And OH MY GOOOD (again), the What's Up Nails Night Contrails !!!! 😳😳 LOOOOOVE 😍😍😍😍 I really need some indie polishes !
Isn’t it magical?! So soo cool! I’m glad you loved those, and yess highly recommend What’s Up Nails esp for their magnetics, if you like multichromes you would loveee their shade called Polar Light Show 🤩
ILNP is definitely my favorite brand for magnetics so far, theirs are just so pretty!! I feel like they have a really nice balance between a jelly-ish base but not too sheer, and some subtle sparkle throughout with being too distracting from the magnetic effect. I agree with you on Enchantment being a fave and Amber was a surprise favorite (don't usually like that type of color on me). I've tried Smokescreen from Mooncat and Mobius from Cirque and I liked them, but wouldn't call them top favorites. I have some more from both those brands that I'm excited to try!
Totally agree!! Ugh they’re the best! And oh yes I agree about Smokescreen, I feel like it’s pretty but they have other prettier magnetics 🤣 I don’t remember if I’ve tried Mobius before, but if I have I guess it’s not memorable 😅 I hope you enjoy the others though!!
i’m so glad you loved those ILNP ones! they really are soo pretty, it’s crazy to think they only just started making them ! and yay happy you also loved the Kathleen & Co and Whats Up Nails too! 🤩🤗
I like clionadh's magnetics, specifically i bought the whole slickadelic collection, i find them quite opaque and the contrasting colours plus sparkles are great. they dont have as much depth and i find the line disappears if i hold the magnet below the finger, but from the top works great. In terms of lighter colours I've placed an order for clionadh portal but i can't give my opinion on it until it arrives.
Ahh I’ve seen their magnetics, they look super cool!! Yess I definitely think holding the magnet over the nail gives a much more crisp line, but I always ding it 😩 I hope you keep me updated on how you like the new lighter magnetics !!
I'm so glad I clicked on this video, even though I don't usually use magnetic polishes. Thank you soooo much for showing how you do the velvet effect- I could never get it right!!! One question if you don't mind: do you do one regular coat with no effect and only use the magnet for the second coat? You just made me grab the few magnetic polishes I have, I'm gonna try this out right now!! 😍 (I have Perseids and A Blossoming Tree both from Masura!)
yayy so happy this video helped! 🤗 and it depends, sometimes I’ll magnetize both coats but for this video I only did the second coat! i feel like it still looked really good for most polishes, and I’ve seen people do the same with the cat eye technique where they only magnetize the top layer and it seems to work the same! and ohh I’m not familiar with that brand, but those two look gorgeous!! 🤩🤩🤩
ILNP Enchantment is amazing. I have so many more of their magnetics on my wishlist. Starrily and Dam Polish have great magnetic formulas of you're looking for some new ones to try. Cliondah Cosmestics as well; I have 3 more coming my way🙈
isnt it magical!! makes me think of fireflies in the woods 🤩 and omg yes! i’ve only tried one Starrily magnetic before but it was a dreammm! I hope to try more of them eventually, same goes for Dam! she makes beautiful polishes too 🤩 and ahh I’ve seen those Clionadh magnetics too, soo stunning! which ones did you get?!
@@PolishedYogi The Starrily Planets collection would blow your mind! I have Thermonuclear, Gravity Wells and 3 2 1 Light The Tree on order from Clionadh. Their Slickadelics were too good to not grab some of the new releases😁
Beautiful picks Stefanie- my favs are WhatsUp Nails and ILNP Fawn and Enchantment. My favorites would be from the ILNP Cosmos Collection and Paradox Polish The Flower Of Life from PPU April 2023. and here‘s my question: do you magnetize each coat or only your last coat? And do you move your magnet around the nail for the velvet effect also for 30-60 seconds? On me the cat eye effect never really lasts more than a few hours and then the next day I have something like a velvet marble look which for the ILNP Cosmos polishes for example looks great too.
Thanks Christine!! So glad you liked these picks, especially What’s Up & those two ILNP 🤩 the cosmos magnetics were great too though, I should’ve given them some more love. But wow I had to look up that Paradox Polish shade and it’s sooo stunning!! 😍😍 for cat eye I usually magnetize each coat, but for velvet I’ve been doing just the last coat of polish (basically all the swatches in this video are done like that). And yes I will still try to move the magnet even for velvet nails too (and again with topcoat!). Unfortunately cat eyes do diffuse but I find that mine still have a noticeable effect, where I wouldn’t call it velvet if that makes sense, but I can see how for some polishes it can work out. Do you magnetize your topcoats as well? I think that’s really helped make them last a bit longer!
ohhhhh my gosh i NEED Clairvoyant!! I got BAE from that line when they brought it back and it is really nice - very similar to velvet rose but cooler toned I think
right!! i think they were ahead of their time with that collection lol people would love those other shades now!! and yess i did love BAE for a while but once I tried Velvet Rose it was over for BAE 🤣 you’re right, its a bit cooler and lighter in tone! still very pretty though 💖
hii sorry i’m just seeing this, but unfortunately that was an exclusive/limited edition polish that released last year, the only way to get it now is second hand either on Mercari (i only see one available and its listed for $22 plus shipping/fees) or asking in facebook groups or subreddits like r/RedditLaqueristaSwap. the only other way is if the brand brings it back for PPU, but that would happen in July and have to be voted back. i hope that helps and you’re able to find it! 🤞🏼
oooh interesting! i haven’t had that issue since i topcoat while still holding the magnet under my nail lol, but it definitely makes sense for people who prefer to hold it above! thank you for sharing that!
interesting! I always hold the magnet underneath too yet it still never stayed crisp. Are you wearing them as a full mani or just while swatching? @@PolishedYogi
iirc mooncat is a bit deeper and warm toned! It’s noticeable when you do a cat eye effect. I have them compared in my Comparisons Highlight over on Instagram if you want to see :)
Illusionist is a burgundy... I don't think red or purple accurately describes it. I love magnetics, they take forever to do so a bunch of people have been trying to design magnet holders so you can do multiple nails at once! As for lighter magnetics... you really have to see Clionadh Psilocybin! It's getting discontinued, but it's currently still available. It's INCREDIBLE. There are so many colours in it! Another lighter one that's really cool is Sassy Sauce - Comet's Tail. You can't see the effect that well unless you're in the shade though, which is a problem I've found with most lighter magnetics that use anything but a silver magnetic pigment.
Interesting, I don’t think Illusionist has enough of that brick/brown color to consider it burgundy, it looks really purple to me 😅 I have seen those magnet holder though! Definitely a great way to optimize the process lol doing each coat, one finger at a time is just 🥲 and ahh yeah Psilocybin is really cool but didn’t really speak to me 🙈 I think I missed out on it anyway since I didn’t see it on the website! I doo really like that Sassy Sauce though! I haven’t tried any of their polishes but was considering it with Cock a Doodle Doom, so they’re def on my radar. That is kind of a shame though about not really seeing the effect that well unless you’re in the shade :/ it still looks really pretty so I’d still consider getting it at some point!
I picked up 2 magnetic polishes from Emily de Molly in the black Friday sales. I think they're really fun to wear but they take much longer to apply. They're kind of the opposite of glitters (which don't take long to apply but take forever to remove!). I don't think I'll buy many magnetics since I mostly love creams and mattified crellies.
Ohh yeah I grabbed 2 magnetics from EdM for BF too! I actually just tried them the other night and get what you mean where they were a bit more slow to respond? Thinking of them as opposites to glitters is soo accurate though haha! 😅
@@PolishedYogi EdM are my first ever magnetics so I don't have other formulas to compare to. One of them is very responsive and I get a strong cat eye, the other is very fussy (I've tried it twice now) to get an OK cat eye. The fussy one has blue flakies in it so maybe they're getting in the way of the magnetic shimmer? I'm not sure...
Great picks ❤ Please help me 😊 I'm about to try the velvet style (with Cirque Mood Ring and Paradox). I only tried it on plastic swatch sticks so far. While I succeeded and created a beautiful aura effect, after couple of minutes it seemed the effect was not as apparent and it almost looks like no effect at all. Does anyone have the same experience? I cannot hold the magnet at one place for a long time as I do with cat eye effect, so I moved the magnet for a while until I was satisfied with the result. But it kinda dissipated... What am I doing wrong?
thank you, i’m glad you enjoyed these! and aw yeah magnetics do tend to dissipate and diffuse over time unfortunately, but it should last at least a day. while it might be hard, holding the magnet for at least a minute and again magnetizing your topcoat should help keep the pigment in place! i think you find find a magnet stand/holder or maybe try resting the magnet on a flat surface and keeping your nail next to it. i hope that helps!
so interesting! yeah i thought maybee it was a batch issue too 😅 though i did only recently notice on the website it says to use it over From the Ashes, their red creme, for best results, so maybe thats how all the swatch photos are?? 🤔 either way i still like the color that mine is, but i’d love to try it over red!
ILNP:Sugar Plum (😮💨😮💨) Enchantment (😮💨) Fawn Mooncat Velvet Rose, Illusionist (😮💨😮💨and yes it’s purple) HT: Menchie Cat (😮💨) Wicked Potion, Fairy Tale (😮💨) Cirque: Paradox, Mood Ring (😮💨😮💨) Eye of the Beholder (😮💨😮💨) Kathleen & Co. Release Are my favorites. I have to try magnetics! I have read some people say the effect does not last long though. I saved this video to know what to get!💃🏿 Thank you (as always!) for the stunning swatches (especially for doing velvet and cat eye!)❤
So glad you love all of those!! 🥰🥰 I hope you try magnetics this year! Yeah unfortunately that’s the downside with regular magnetic polish, gel is much better since you’re curing the effect; it won’t diffuse over time :/ but it’s still fun to try! Even if the cat eye diffuses I still do see a line/effect of that makes sense, it’s just softer. It’s been a while since I wore a velvet mani for a few days but I can see how if that diffused, it would look almost like when it’s applied with no magnet 🤔 so I see why some people just hate them/don’t find them worth it 😅 Thank you again for the love!! 🤗🤗
LOL omg yeah I almost forgot about Bubbly 🤣 they shouldnt have tried adding holo lol. i still hope they bring back some of the others from the Aura set!
ILNP Enchantment was one of my absolute faves from last year! But I think I need to stop buying magnetics. I still have quite few of them that I haven't even worn once and I realize that largely avoid them because the magnetization process is so time-consuming. Unless the magnetic is extremely unique or still looks very cool unmagnetized, I should abstain.
That’s so valid! I really don’t wear mine enough 😅 I was surprised I even picked up Kathleen & Co’s but I do think it’s unique and worth it for my collection! I’m hoping to wear it soon as a fun take on Valentine’s Day nails haha 🩷💜❤️
I like magnetics cus they're like lazy nail art, especially when wanting to go for a galaxy kind of look, but I don't wear them enough cus I only do the cat eye as an accent nail. 😅
omg yes for sure!! aside from them being tedious haha but i guess we can also layer some of them over similar cream base colors to quicken the process. i love how an accent magnetic nail sounds! 🤩
What?!!?! Cirque Dream Within a Dream isn't on here? Do you not own it? 😄 Also, I love ILNP Zero Degrees and WUP Night Contrails ... and I ALMOST bought the K&Co, but didn't! 😢
Hahah I knowww, I’m pretty sure I do have it but idk for some reason I just don’t reach for it the way I do Mood Ring or Paradox 🙈 I’m so glad you love Zero Degrees & Night Contrails though! And ahh a shame that you missed out on Release, hopefully we’ll see another brand put out something similar 💜🩷❤️
I was expecting more complex magnetics like Sassy Sauce Muggles be Buggin, Fancy Gloss Superstition, Moon Shine Mani Drogon, some Vanessa Molina or Phoenix or ELBE or other Sassy Sauce Would love to see magnetizing videos on LynBDesigns Common Starling, Dark & Twisted Lacquer Rise & Bite, Sassy Cats Lacquer Web of Mystery, Fancy Gloss Happy Hollydays, Vapid The Seven Ravens, Swamp Gloss He’s Here. He’s There. He’s Every F**king Where., Fancy Gloss Space Gnome, Fancy Gloss Space Siren, Fancy Gloss Space Hydra, any of the Fancy Gloss Magnetic Top Coats, any Fancy Gloss, Penelope Luz Edward, or any of the ones mentioned earlier…if you have any of those… Especially polishes with more than one color!
@@PolishedYogi I wasn’t complaining at all! Sorry I just reread my comment and it sounded harsh. It was a great video! I was just surprised haha :) I am excited to check out more of your videos. I’m glad TH-cam led me astray to your video even though it wasn’t what I asked for 😂😂😂 But seriously you should check out Fancy Gloss Magnetic Top Coats. I’m not sure how many are in stock at the moment but she’s doing a restock on the 9th so more might be available. They look great over pretty much all dark polishes and most medium colored polishes. Really light polishes still look great you’ll just see more of the grayish hint. And the Space polishes she recently did 💚💚💚
I have Clairvoyant, BAE, Halo, and Oracle from that collection and never use them - would be super happy to sell them you at a huge discount if you're interested!
Really nice choices, those ilnp look amazing! Once again, you very kindly influenced me to pickup velvet rose..however, upon my browsing I added several others to my cart and forgot it at checkout, rip💀 lol. I'm so mad I forgot it and bought others lol oh well I'll have to wait for a sale cuz I don't want to pay shipping for one bottle🫠.
Justice for ILNP’s Deep Space and Shooting Star 😫🔥
i knowww I should’ve given them a shoutout at least lol! i just havent reached for them nearly as often as these others 🙈
I bought both of those during the BF sale! I havent gotten to them yet, but that's reassuring ❤
ILNP deep space is my favorite nail polish of all time.
ILNP Poison is my favorite red
Keep yer moonboots on these are Stefanie's favorites!🤣🌜🧑🚀
this video was so nicely put together I came back to watch it four times throughout the day! potentially adding mooncat illusionist to my distant wishlist :'D
in case anyone feels like they have tried a lot of different techniques and it still doesnt give a satisfying effect, i wanted to share one way of magnetizing for a velvet/shifty effect (fairly foolproof but results will vary depending on your magnet setup and nail shape) and that involves utilizing either a rod or a stack of round magnets. i have mine attached to a regular nail magnet tool at a diagonal because that's how the magnets naturally stick to each other. you can experiment but i usually do these three steps (aka magnet movements):
1. pull magnet to one side of nail bed so that particles come up toward that area
2. pull magnet to other side of nail bed to get the same effect
3. pick either the cuticle or tip of your nail, and hover / draw small arc motions near it. this will pull the particles so that you get a very bright, curved arch towards whatever end you chose to hover your magnet close to, and when you curl/flex your finger you will see the brightness shift up and down the nail in a very noticeable way.
I love ILNP shooting star, Kbshimmer How Polarizing, Cirque BAE, and Mooncat Smokescreen
those are great choices!! 🤩🤩✨
I'm not a magnetic fan but the velvet effect definitely piques my interest!
haha right! just soo mesmerizing!
Magnetics are my favorite finish. I discovered them (and indie nail polish in general) this year. I'm addicted. I have a problem. They are so so so beautiful and unique and the process of applying them makes me feel so relaxed.
yay how fun!! what are some of your favorite magnetics? and I find polishing so relaxing too! 🥰
ILNP Sandbar is a great magnetic topper! I use it to make my own light magnetic shades since I was also not able to find many of those 😊
Oooh you know that’s a good idea!
But I like this magnetic nail polish and I will be trying this out.
yay i’m so happy you discovered magnetic polishes recently! they’re so fun and so so pretty 🤩 happy my video could be helpful too! 🥰
Def love a darrrk red 🤤
& yesss so glad you agree about Clairvoyant!!
I was actually going to comment that Cirque's BAE + Halo being my first magnetics nearly stopped me from trying any other magnetics because no matter how much I practiced magnetizing them they always flattened....I think those two shades specifically don't hold the velvet effect at all because with other polishes in the brand like Eye of the Beholder or Delphinium I've managed to get velvety/shifty effects that actually stay :0
I'd never heard of the reddit three magnet hack until reading your comment though so thank you!
Ooh, I love the Velvet Rose in the velvet effect! I might have to pick that one up!
But I agree that ILNP magnetics are the best!
so stunning right!! sometimes the velvet effect comes out just right and its MAGIC 🤩💖
This is so helpful thank you!!! And thanks for the collages, i took screenshots for reference - going to buy my first magnetic polish this weekend!
yay i’m so glad to hear that!! 😁🤗 would love to know what you end up buying!
I love the Cirque illusion ones, but only one coat over a matching base. I really can't deal with the sheerness, but they do magnetise really easily.
Yeah that’s definitely smart to do!! It’s just a shame bc I love the base color of Mood Ring & Eye of Beholder but I feel like I don’t have exact matching bases you know. But they are great magnetics for sure!
Holo taco fairytale!!!! Yes I love browns and greens so I got that and the cat eyes, no regrets on any of those!
so glad you love fairy tail too!! 🤎🤎 i feel like its the least popular of all their magnetics and makes me so sad lol so glad you love it & the cat eyes, theyre soo pretty!
@@PolishedYogi the advertisement for cat eye was... cannot resist 😂
@@PolishedYogi oh noooo fairytale is retiring >
I literally am obsessed with Cirque's magnetics, especially the ones you showed here. I also have some ILNP and Mooncat magnetics, and although they're certainly pretty in velvet form (I have a 30 pound magnet, which is a must), none of them in velvet are as smooth and fiery and shifty as my Cirque ones! I just took Paradox off yesterday, only because my Star Wars Mooncat magnetics are finally on the way...but I really just want to put Paradox back on!!
These are really great picks!🤩
I also love Mooncats Madhatter and Cheshire Cat a lot😀
thank you so much!! ahh yes those are definitely fun ones, mooncat sure knows how to make magnetics 🤩
Agreed! Madhatter is unreal pretty.
I love that you show both the cat eye and the velvet. So helpful
happy to hear that! :)
The What's Up Nails one 😍
also - justice for ILNP's Shooting Star (a showstopper in cat-eye!) and Amber (underrated, it's showstopping in aura!) 🔥
also i learned how to do the aura style from ur vids actl! 😆 so thank you again for that 😁
I just put on Shooting Star today to give it some love!! It really is super gorgeous. I do have to give Amber a shot again, I didn’t love it at first 🙈 but yay I’m glad you learned how to do velvet nails!! They’re soo pretty to do ✨
im just laughing all of us in the thread basically bullied you into putting Shooting Star back on 😂
i didn't really enjoy Amber in cat-eye either! hope u'd like it more in the aura style ✨
I have cirque’s mood ring and paradox untrieds! I love how they look velvet can’t wait to try them now!
oh yay, i hope you love wearing them!!
you don't know how ill I felt when I received my mooncat order and realized that I had forgotten MC Velvet Rose. Screaming!
I’ve only tried Starrily Pluto before and it was gooorgeous, I def would love to try more of them 🤩✨
Starrily and ILNP make the best magnetic IMO
My ultimate magnetic is to see a Labradorite stone magnetic! So dark gray with blue flashes.
omggg that would be amazing!! 😍😍
So, so cozy together ❤
l
Ahh yes that’s true! I only tried Starrily recently and only Pluto for their magnetics, it was still super gorgeous though!! I def would love to try a few more of them! I can see how Absinthe & This Is A Storm Warning would be so cozy together 💚🩶
Thank you Stefanie. Great job showing all these polishes and magnetic ways to use them.
aw of course! so glad you enjoyed seeing my favorites😁
You have put so much work into this video, really appreciate that you showed the different finishes!
i think cirque was really ahead of their time with that collection lol! i genuinely think it would do so well if they brought a few of them back too 🥲 and i totally get you, I know a lot of people have had issues with the HT magnetics but I think Fairy Tail is in the clear for the most part!
and yesss to velvetizing Your Hearts a Black Hole for Christmas!! totally reminds me of satin ribbons, ugh just so pretty! yeah I really do notice a difference when it’s a thicker coat for sure ✨
and thank you so much! it def was time consuming lol but i really appreciate that 🥰🫶🏼
Thank you so much for this video ❤❤❤ I wish I could find a similar video for the solid gel polishes.
Right!! It’s sooo stunning! Im so so glad you picked it up & love it 🥰🥰💚✨
Oh this feels like an extra Christmas gift!
haha yay! glad you enjoyed 🤗🤗
Love these! I’m super new to magnetics- and very tentative tbh. I don’t wear them much… yet lol
The only ones I have from this list are Holo taco: Menchie cat eye and ILNP Fawn. Those Are literally my favorites of the few magnetics I have right meow, so you nailed it lol
This video makes me want to get ILNP’s Enchantment and Be Mine, Cirque Mood Ring and Cassiopeia, and MC Velvet Rose 😍
💗💕
I’m glad you loved those, and yess highly recommend What’s Up Nails esp for their magnetics, if you like multichromes you would loveee their shade called Polar Light Show 🤩
@@PolishedYogi when you do the velvet effect, do you do it on every single coat are only for the last one ?
What beautiful swatches and I absolutely love love loved the collages at the end with different magnetic effects!😍
thank you soo much! so glad you enjoyed 😁🤩
Would love to see you do a favorite jellies video! Didn’t have to be long
oh that would be tough to narrow them down, but I talked about a lot of my favorites when I swatched all of Cirque’s jellies! 😁
I just wore Mooncat Drown my Demons and it is gorgeous! Love your videos!
That’s a really pretty one too!! So glad you love it 💙 & aw yay, thank you!! 🥰
Great video showing the qualities of these magnetics! It really helped me chose some new shades! Thanks!!
thank you so much! so happy to hear this video was helpful 🥰
So many great ILNP shades. I really want to try their magnetics. 🤩 The PPU Kathleen &Co and What's Up nails are amazing.
i’m so glad you loved those ILNP ones! they really are soo pretty, it’s crazy to think they only just started making them ! and yay happy you also loved the Kathleen & Co and Whats Up Nails too!
Great video.... you should try the FUN Lacquer magnetics, they have some amazing ones in both regular and gel formula.
Thank you! Ahh I’ve seen amazinggg FUN Lacquer Magnetics, their gels esp look amazing! I’ll see what they have for the regular magnetics though 🤩
I know the list would be super small, but I'd be interested in if there's ever a favorite multichrome video 😆😁
omg i think you’re the second person wanting to see that! i’ll go through my collection and see how many i have hehe 🙈
This may already be on your radar, but a fun lighter-shade magnetic is Sassy Sauce's A Comet's Tail. It's pretty gorgeous IMO!
Omggg it was not, so thank you for putting it on my radar!!! It looks soo pretty, like a unicorn 🥹🦄🩵💖
These are all gorgeous omg 🤩
So glad you think so!
ohhhhh my gosh i NEED Clairvoyant!!
That Kathleen and Co is so beautiful 😍
it truly is!!
the Kathleen & co release is beautiful. Is there any way to get one's hands on it? 💔
hii sorry i’m just seeing this, but unfortunately that was an exclusive/limited edition polish that released last year, the only way to get it now is second hand either on Mercari (i only see one available and its listed for $22 plus shipping/fees) or asking in facebook groups or subreddits like r/RedditLaqueristaSwap. the only other way is if the brand brings it back for PPU, but that would happen in July and have to be voted back. i hope that helps and you’re able to find it! 🤞🏼
@PolishedYogi Thanks so much for replying!! Hopefully one of the indie brands will make a similar colour combination soon 😇
just an FYI - if you prefer a really sharp magnetic line it is best NOT to use a QDTC, they dry to fast flaring out the line ;0)
Oh good to know. 👍
oooh interesting! i haven’t had that issue since i topcoat while still holding the magnet under my nail lol, but it definitely makes sense for people who prefer to hold it above! thank you for sharing that!
interesting! I always hold the magnet underneath too yet it still never stayed crisp. Are you wearing them as a full mani or just while swatching? @@PolishedYogi
Would you say ILNP pink suede is very similar to MC velvet rose?
iirc mooncat is a bit deeper and warm toned! It’s noticeable when you do a cat eye effect. I have them compared in my Comparisons Highlight over on Instagram if you want to see :)
@@PolishedYogi I’ll check it out, thank you so much!
I love magnetics!! I think my bottle of MC Illusionist looks a tad more reddish than yours hmmm there are probably some batch variations
so interesting! yeah i thought maybee it was a batch issue too 😅 though i did only recently notice on the website it says to use it over From the Ashes, their red creme, for best results, so maybe thats how all the swatch photos are?? 🤔 either way i still like the color that mine is, but i’d love to try it over red!
Clicked so fast! love Magnetics
yay i love that! what are some of your favorites?
Same here! I have a lot of these already XD
Please try cliodnahs new pastel magnetics ❤
Ugh I would love to but I’m on low/no buy this year except for PPU 🥲 they do look really pretty though!
ILNP:Sugar Plum (😮💨😮💨) Enchantment (😮💨) Fawn

Kathleen & Co. Release
Are my favorites. I have to try magnetics! I have read some people say the effect does not last long though. I saved this video to know what to get!💃🏿
Thank you (as always!) for the stunning swatches (especially for doing velvet and cat eye!)❤
what do those emojis mean?
@@duckie3863 just what I especially like.
It’s been a while since I wore a velvet mani for a few days but I can see how if that diffused, it would look almost like when it’s applied with no magnet 🤔 so I see why some people just hate them/don’t find them worth it 😅
Thank you again for the love!! 🤗🤗
I always see the emojis as like.. when something is so good you go “phewww” lol does that make sense?? 😮💨😮💨
@@PolishedYogi yes!! That is exactly what I am doing!!
I too wanted to see pastel magnetics... then the Bubbly Collection happened 🙊
The New Clionadh collection has some pastel magnetics with silver stripe
LOL omg yeah I almost forgot about Bubbly 🤣 they shouldnt have tried adding holo lol. i still hope they bring back some of the others from the Aura set!
What store or ??? is the "PPU haul"??
PPU = Polish Pickup, its a pre-order online shop open on the first weekend of each month! i have a few other videos on my channel talking about it ☺️
ILNP Enchantment was one of my absolute faves from last year!
I really don’t think you did a good job explaining what the velvet technique is and how to do it.
I was expecting more complex magnetics like Sassy Sauce Muggles be Buggin, Fancy Gloss Superstition, Moon Shine Mani Drogon, some Vanessa Molina or Phoenix or ELBE or other Sassy Sauce
Would love to see magnetizing videos on LynBDesigns Common Starling, Dark & Twisted Lacquer Rise & Bite, Sassy Cats Lacquer Web of Mystery, Fancy Gloss Happy Hollydays, Vapid The Seven Ravens, Swamp Gloss He’s Here. He’s There. He’s Every F**king Where., Fancy Gloss Space Gnome, Fancy Gloss Space Siren, Fancy Gloss Space Hydra, any of the Fancy Gloss Magnetic Top Coats, any Fancy Gloss, Penelope Luz Edward, or any of the ones mentioned earlier…if you have any of those…
Especially polishes with more than one color!
lol sorry i don’t have any of those!
@@PolishedYogi I wasn’t complaining at all! Sorry I just reread my comment and it sounded harsh. It was a great video! I was just surprised haha :)
I am excited to check out more of your videos. I’m glad TH-cam led me astray to your video even though it wasn’t what I asked for 😂😂😂
But seriously you should check out Fancy Gloss Magnetic Top Coats. I’m not sure how many are in stock at the moment but she’s doing a restock on the 9th so more might be available.
They look great over pretty much all dark polishes and most medium colored polishes. Really light polishes still look great you’ll just see more of the grayish hint.
And the Space polishes she recently did 💚💚💚
The mooncat is def 🟪 😂
right!! i also never noticed that even the website says it looks best layered over From the Ashes, which is a red creme lol 😒
What no Starrily? 😂😻
i’ve only tried one Starrily magnetic before and it really was amazing! I guess if I included my ppu shade i couldve included starrily too 🤣
I have Clairvoyant, BAE, Halo, and Oracle from that collection and never use them - would be super happy to sell them you at a huge discount if you're interested!
omg! i have BAE & Halo but will gladly buy the two purples, just DM me! 💜
Oh nooo lmao! I would’ve tried to cancel the order just to reorder everything, I totally don’t blame you for not wanting to pay shipping for just 1! 🙈
