Haydn is the father of the symphony. His music is amazing in harmony, grace and elegance. Viva Haydn a true genius of music that gives us unforgettable moments of pleasure and haunting music. Bravissimo
The Haydn musicologists give this symphony a definite thumbs down but I like it. The first movement has a rather noble feel to it and the brief finale is an invigorating country dance that ends by quoting the opening movement. Good minuet too.
Very pleasant piece; can't imagine why it's not better known. My classical music station: WSMR-FM Sarasota, aka the station of the Weasels, the Skunks, the Martens, the Rodents, the Ferrets, and the Mustelids--has never played it.
May I suggest a station? I've found from experience that ClassicFM is pretty good at playing many beautiful, but rather unknown pieces. They have an app which allows non-British residents listen. I would check them out if you're fed up with your local channel.
If so it's very underrated because I feel the music is as inventive and elegant as Papa Haydn's better known named symphonies. Thank goodness for TH-cam. 👍💌

Amazing symphony!

Masterpiece by father of symphony ❤️
Haydn is not the father of the symphony as he had absolutely nothing to do with the conception - or birth - of the form.
@@elaineblackhurst1509 Sorry 😰 Shame on me ☠️
@@elaineblackhurst1509 Could you please eleaborate. Why then is he called the father of the symphony?

This is the first of Haydn's symphonies of which I could not find a CD recording in any nearby public library.
aaah
i wonder if it being number 69 has anything to do with it??
