As an Aussie, to me the Royal Coronation is such an exciting event and all about pomp and ceremony and was just so disappointed that Coronation robes were not required to be worn by Dukes, etc. To me it would most certainly would have added that extra sparkle to the whole event, with everyone wearing suits, nobody stood out to the viewers. Such a shame.
As an American, I would have liked to see the peerage coronation robes and a bit more sparkle (tiaras). I understand why it didn’t happen, but I had a discussion with a Canadian friend and we both thought that all around the coronation was very well done. Hopefully, some tiered seating at the next coronation and a few more peers as an homage to tradition will be in order. Not anll the peers, of course, but a smattering. But our minor quibbles didn’t detract from the splendor of the occasion.
Fellow Australian 🇦🇺 here. I was in England May 6th last year but not in London. Watched it on the telly in the Mawes Hotel in Cornwall. I was glued to the screen! I thought it magnificent & loved all the historical inclusions.
Presumably Charles wanted to keep his coronation financially low, as the economic situation in the UK was not at its best. It's a shame because while other countries spend millions on election campaigns and lifelong bonuses for former presidents, the British haven't had to pay for a coronation for 70 years
Another great video, the Castle and its gardens are fabulous. All of these estates are basically museums that need to be cherished, so much history to take in, love it. Thanks Julie.
OH! One of the BEST for many reasons - the views, YOUR honest enjoyment of the history attached to the place and pieces ... on and on I could go. I would LOVE to have a "special" series of you at a place like this for one or two weeks - going through the archives and showing the details of the tapestries and beyond! KEEP GOING JULIE! You are spectacular in a lasting and cherished, honest way! 🥰
What a magical & enchanting place!! Glad they were willing to share their magnificent property with the rest of the world. Just breathtaking. And nobody cares if a structure that old and huge, needs a lick of paint here or there lol.
Enjoyed this visit Julie! I was lucky to have first visited the Castle 51 years ago with my parents when I was 12. I revisited in 2017. Was absolutely thrilled to be there again as an adult. It’s a very special place. Pity we didn’t get to hear the bells ring.
I think this is the best by far Julie. The history, the Beauty of Scotland, tradition, architecture, scenery. I’m a we lassie with Scottish Runin through my vains. Thank you so much for taking us along.
Unbelievable! You are so fortunate to be able to see even the private parts of these beautiful places, Julie! Thank you for a wonderful adventure once again! Scotland is gorgeous! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
Julie, this was a most stunningly beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing this visit with us. You must have had a difficult time choosing the footage to use. What a wonderful castle and lovely couple who are its caretakers for the future. I remain in awe of those who take on the incredible task of restoration and maintenance of these historical sites.
What a stunning landscape! My dream is to visit Scotland where I have ancestry via Mary Queen of Scots… living vicariously through American Viscountess channel… thank you so much for these wonderful tours. This channel really is extraordinary! Viewing from Vancouver Washington USA .. I love all your channels!😊
What a great segment! I was in Inverary in March, the castle wasn't open for tours. I treasure the picture I took as we drove by. Thank you for all the wonderful historical information from across the pond!
I had to look it up, because for the life of me, I could not imagine what a 'sledging,' accident might have been... Princess Louise was injured in a SLEIGHING accident (what we would today call 'sledding,') in the winter of early 1880 in Ottawa, Canada. The reason she was self-conscious of her ear was because in the accident, her earring had gotten caught somehow (on something), and actually ripped her earlobe in two. I'm not sure if the dutchess knows about a particular pronunciation that I am not aware of, or what the case is, but just in case anyone else was wondering, when they say 'sledging,' accident, they're talking about what we call sledding (riding on a wooden sled down a snow covered hill). It could be that the dutchess read about this incident in a book, and not being familiar with the pastime, she saw 'sleighing,' and simply mispronounced it. I'm not here to try and do a 'gotcha' on the dutchess, I just wanted to provide some more information for anyone else who might have been curious. I wish the dutchess and duke all the best, and I very much hope to visit them in their castle someday.
Just discovered your channel. I would love to see you do an interview with Brittany from the Royal News Network. She would love to get your take on an American marrying into British Aristocracy. She’s currently in the UK and pretty busy but I bet she would love to chat with you after the first of the year. I’m impressed with your ingenuity in ways to preserve your home and your children’s legacy.
Interesting video. I am sad, as w Canadian, that no one mentioned the incredibly important links to Canada: In 1878, Lorne was appointed Governor General of Canada a post he held from 1878-1884. Louise was viceregal consort, starting a lasting interest in Canada. Her names were used to name many features in Canada, including Lake Louise and the province of Alberta. Cheers
This was nice Julie. I like hearing about you and Luke best tho. I ordered two pair of almond toe flats from today's sponsor. Wanted them forever. Merry Christmas.
The Campbell family is also who the present Lady Colin Campbell, married Into. She else has videos on TH-cam. She is also the current owner of Castle Goring.❤
My great grandfather, Frederick David Webb, was the Secretary of the "Argyll Court" of The Foresters Friendly Society. He was the second appointed Company Secretary in 1917 of the London branch that was established in 1915, with the help of the Duke, The Foresters Friendly Society Mutual Fund the head office being in the USA.
Beautiful castle forsure! Thank you for the tour! Lovely shoes but, would rather go with natural materials and honor natue and God's creation than plastic! Though the boots are adorable and would choose them!
Why do they keep handling these precious and delicate documents etc with bare hands!!?!?! They should be sporting special cotton gloves so no finger oils, dirt etc gets on the items.
Good heavens, how large is that estate???? And involuntarily I can't help think of the new tax over 1mill pounds on farms and estates. Hereditary rules are also being abolished in parliament. Is there an anti-monarchy sentiment?

As an Aussie, the history and traditions it brings is hard to fathom.
We think we're cool if a building is 150 year old....
This is my most favorite Castle, The Duke and Duchess of Argyll 😊
Same, it's the most beautiful I've ever seen. Dreamy
One of my absolute favorites. The grounds are magnificent. The castle/home is stunning. Fairy tale perfection. Love, love, love it all. ❤

I don't know if it's been added after your comment, but Julie specifically mentions those facts around the 5 minute mark.
@ThePolypam great, thanks! I somehow missed this. Cheers.
Such fabulous scenery lucky you to get the tour - plus how lucky indeed to see the marriage papers super thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks so much 😊
Stunning castle
What a beautiful place....I went to Cirencester at the same time as Torquil!
You should visit Haddo House in Aberdeenshire. Queen Victoria also stayed there and it still has its original Victorian interior.
Thank you for the video so wonderful and beautiful 🎄
You are so kind
Thank you! 😀 just brilliant

Why do they keep handling these precious and delicate documents etc with bare hands!!?!?! They should be sporting special cotton gloves so no finger oils, dirt etc gets on the items.
Actually contemporary science is to handle them as you see them doing here.
