  • Another owner review on Motoroctane. Today we have the owner of Skoda Kushaq who preferred safety and decided to go for this SUV. Also, another major reason for choosing this over its competitors is the space the car has to offer. So do watch the video as he shares all the details of the Skoda Kushaq regarding the product, service, and an exciting trip to Ladakh!

    I have been using skoda Rapid automatic from the past 6 years and as mentioned in the video, skoda really gives very good service packages which adds peace of mind. Really love the car it is at 99000+ km now and still feels like a brand new car.. really love the build quality of skoda and VW group.

    • @windowsxpp
      @windowsxpp ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have heard lots of negative reviews about Skoda's after-sales service. Did you come across this or was "after sales" a deciding factor for you at all?
      People say lots of bad things about their experience during regular maintenance/service with their dealership.
      Also one more question. Since you have driven more 99k+ kms, do you think its a long lasting car? Is this reliable? As in, does it "feel" like it can last for more than a decade? I really don't like lots of proprietary software and expensive computers/ECU tech in car (unfortunately modern cars are full of ECUs), I prefer old-school tactile analog features that can be easily repaired/swapped locally or by myself if I'm so inclined, and also not a fan of replacing cars frequently, so it has to last for a really long time (even if there comes a time when Skoda exits India, but hopefully not)

    • @ravikanthmattewada
      @ravikanthmattewada ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that you had a good experience with Skoda. Let me know if you come across any periodic maintenance till 99k (Like timing chain or belt replacement which is common in all cars after 1lac kms) if yes how much it was?? did you ever had any minor changes/crashes like bumper replacement(Front or rear) or headlights or side fender dents if yes what was the cost to replacement or repaint price in Showroom, please also specify this. I heard that if anyone encounters this for example it might go almost to 10% of your car price. Please try to check it with any one of your know colleagues/peers.

    Just adding to what is being said in the video,
    1.0L is more than enough for a regular consumer, go for 1.5L if you have a touring use, i.e expected KM in first 4-5 years is >1.5L Km, because 1.5L will give you better aging but offcourse with a bit higher maintenance. Don't go for 1.5L just because of Power, as the platform on which Car is built and the steering, one rarely would be able to use the actual potential.

If I drive at a speed of 100km/hr, i have a feeling of going at 60km/hr by comparing the ride quality of my existing ford freestyle. Seat comfort is awesome specially for back seat(My wife's observation). Mileage in highway is 16-18 and in bangalore city 10-11 kmpl. One thing they should have given the electronic parking brake as I have spend 21.5L. When gear shifts from D2 to D3 you get to know about it in city condition (some lag).

    Sir, I recently persuaded one of my family member to go for XUV 700 instead of skoda/VW, because of consistent issues like EPC error, AC issues etc.
    We appreciate a "NO Nonsense" car more than a performance oriented car. Although the XUV700 has it's own issues, but they are minor issues with the touchscreen only, and never any mechanical issue.
    There have been instances where these Skoda cars are seen to break down completely in mid highways due to this EPC error thing. Look, we don't care whose fault it was, but mechanical issues are literally painful.

    • @VK-yf2fn
      @VK-yf2fn ปีที่แล้ว +6

      EPC issues are fixed in 2022 models, literally no complaints on that front now. I drove mine for 1400 kms with AC and the mileage and performance both were good, so was the AC. It all depends on one’s driving habits too. If one expects to leave the sunroof open in Indian heat and turn up the AC expecting it to work wonders, won’t happen.

    • @anishtripathi3800
      @anishtripathi3800 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rajsharma-wh2xx Till now all good, there are minor glitches in the touchscreen and the Alexa sometimes causes embarassment. Body roll is there, but very controlled. It feels uneasy only if you take curves above 90 speed. Suspensions, till now are noise free, and excellent in comfort. They have frequency selective damping. So far, no mechanical problems. It's been only a three weeks till now, so no major flaws are visible as of now.

      @anishtripathi3800 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Coming from a owner
    CONS
    1. All touch instrument cluster and climate control. A few buttons like Volume rotary would be appreciated. Climate control touch buttons are too sensitive and it can take a significant amount of time to get acquainted with them and even after that if driving alone, you'll have to carefully check if you are reaching the right button.
    2. Less functionality on steering. Only way to rejecting a call is by picking it up and then disconnecting. And there are few non functional buttons as well.
    Even after knowing the above, I would still go for Kushaq because it gives you what matters, the drive.

If you are new user of car , and you need car for traveling with family , good iteriors, go for Korean brands. Parts are easily available as their service centres. • Break noise is apparent in the 1.0 automatic while creeping in b2b traffic, parking and reversing. The brake pads makes a screeching sound and the ABS brings the car to a juddering halt
    • Jerky brakes. Brakes are not as much activated till a certain time and then they suddenly become too sharp
    • Aggressive creep function in 1.0 automatic. The acceleration is quite aggressive when parking in tight spots.
    • AC ineffective and AC cutoff problem
    • Fuel injector issues
    • EPC error/ Fuel pump malfunction leaving the car stranded on road during trip
    • Min 95 octane fuel mandated in the manual which is extremely difficult to find
    • The discs are very grabby, the car doesn't start creeping forward because of the stuck brakes
    • MT has issue of clutch pedal sticking to the bottom in excessive usage, mostly on mountains or bumper to bumper traffic
    • Power window one touch up doesn't work sometimes and it comes down on its own
    • Transparent/open part of the sun blind making the AC ineffective by letting in sunlight heat
    • Panel gaps
    • Exhaust smell coming into cabin when AC in recirculation mode. Outdoor smell coming in despite the AC vent closed or on, painful whenever passing a drain
    • Piano black on the interior prone to scratches easily
    • Cabin lamp comes apart and fell down on potholed roads
    • The cruise buttons in the right switchboard panel of the steering wheel fell off on its own
    • Noisy windows roll motor
    • Engine sound inside cabin. if music is not played and road is relatively empty, engine noise is irritating inside cabin
    • Front ac vents are of cheap quality
    • Windows roll up/down not working properly
    • Noisy ventilated seats
    • Irritating Auto start stop switching off the engine on a speed breaker
    • Not well done cabin insulation. You hear tyre noise, stones hitting your car underbelly and the engine rev noise.
    • Gear stick breaking and coming to your hands
    • Jerky rides on lower gears in DSG. D3-D2 transition is jerky when driven at City speeds, DSG is inherently jerky at city speeds
    • DSG lag
    • Wireless charger heating
    • Erratic Android Auto/Apple CarPlay disconnecting and refusing to connect
    • Steering alignment issues
    • No disk breaks at the rear
    • No physical control for AC needing to take eyes off the road to fiddle with climatronic control
    • Placement of buttons (lock and auto engine start stop) near gear box is painful to operate for driver. These should have been at right side
    • No height adjustable seatbelt
    • No sunglass holder(Virtus)
    • Smaller size ORVM
    • Only typeC port available
    • Less wider seats at the front making it uncomfortable for wider people
    • Seat which are supposed to be stock seat material, but looks more like after market seat covers. Fit and finish is very poor with lots of wrinkles, lines and loose fitting with exposed zippers, exposed stitching and poor contouring around the creases
    • Ugly looking rear with an exposed tank, torsion beam(Slavia)
    • No dynamic guidelines on reverse camera
    • Low quality/resolution reverse camera
    • No full fledged TPMS
    • The music audio quality is a let down with no branded audio system in any variants
    • Uncomfortable back seat recline angle
    • Low mileage in city
    • Low quality plastics and cheap materials used for India-spec 2.0 models
    • Inability of service centre to resolve issues. They are pathetically slow & poor in responding to query

Though I prefer not to drive rash, I am getting 26-27 Km/l in city and 23 I achieved in mountains recently on my new year trip. Its really very comfortable car. Frankly since I have small family of 4, I dont mind smaller boot space in hybrid version. Secondly, build quality is what toyota offers best. Had a small incident on road on very first drive I had..but not even a single scratch I got on car body. You can go ahead with the car for amazing experience and ofcourse after sales services 9f Toyota. I have always been satisfied with this brand.

      @gauravwadhwa66 I bought a neo drive S variant black colour. It is my first car . So, I have done so much analysis. Hyrider looks beautiful, big and bold, and this price segment no other car will come near to this car. It has enough power, and it gives 16.5 k in the city and in highway it showing 17.3. I just finished the first service. I feel that when I drive above 70, the engine sound comes inside the cabin. But my friends suggested that after 4 to 5, the service engine became smooth. But I don't know everyone feels the same.

Skoda Onyx from safety perspective, good power with 1.0 Turbo, camera is not good, 5star rating with 2 airbags, included 4 yr service cost. Maruti from economy perspective, only two airbags, no GNCAP, decent power, mild hybrid with less boot space, service cost extra. Please suggest. Sunroof is not required.
