It makes me sad that I have heard people say you are an unsafe canner because your recipes are not 'approved'. The NCHFP can't test everycrecipe a person would want to can! That's why they publish rules and guidelines to allow you to adapt your own recipies for canning. Your videos have made canning a joy for me. Thank you!

I would flip that around and ask the complainers which part of the recipe they could prove was unsafe.

@Jus- Sayin Criticism for stockpiling? What? Preserving and storing your food was done by almost everyone at one time. There is a harvest season and that is the time to store it. Those who would criticize this are foolish.

I have found if I don’t put my lids in hot water (the new cheap balls) they are less likely to seal. I did the chicken a la king and it looks awesome. I am canning soups this next two weeks and all I need for this is a cabbage. Thanks!

I'm making a version of this right now & filling my jars. I'm hoping it doesn't become a mushy mess when done. I'm Polish so I've made dozens cabbage rolls & have change to deconstructed (chopped cabbage + meat, sauce, & rice or now riced cauliflower) in a pot. It only made sense to move it to a soup as well. Thanks & Blessings from Deborah in West Virginia!

I make this without the meat and use it as a base with vegetable broth. When opened you can ad your canned meat of choice, diced potatoes. I also will add fresh steamed broccoli florets and egg noodles upon serving with fresh loaf of toasted garlic buttered Italian bread or French bread. It's always a big hit and very hearty with the additional ingredients after opening. Great video!

Lili Ker, I'd like to make this soup & add rice. Do you add it cooked or uncooked when canning? (For all of the canning nazi's, yes, I know it is not recommended. Neither is milk, & I've canned milk for yrs.)

I just made a huge batch of cabbage soup, with beans, Hamburg meat, vegetables. ( celery, peppers, onion. Carrots, mushrooms, peas) tomato sauce. So happy i can can it!! Ps i normally dont make cabbage this way but last few days, i was on a canning mission, i made, chilli, beans, peas, ground beef, and one of each didn’t seal so threw it in my cabbage soup. Tastes divine,!

Great video. I’m making this soup as I’m watching it. Love cabbage soup. My soup is cooked completely when I add it to my jars. I hate siphoning!!! I pressure can my soup around 30 minutes. Overkill for 60 minutes when all of my soup is a finished product. That’s just me. It’s never failed me. Love your voice thank you.

The reason I process mine for longer is the meat. Any product with meat should be canned 75 minutes for pints and 90 minutes for quarts, per USDA guidlines for safe canning. But every canner who has been doing for years has thier own knowledge of what works for them. Happy canning! 😃

Cabbage is not on the approved list for canning by itself, just as an ingredient. The diet cabbage soup is almost all cabbage, it woulden't be safe to pack it in, you would have to make sure it was packed loose and half water.
