Picked this guy up at the very beginning of this year. Spent quite a bit but don’t regret a single penny. I love how this one looks. Such a cool looking figure and fun to pose. A bit stylized but that’s part of that classic toybiz charm. I think he looks great next to the mafex 185 spidey.

The only thing about them is that I think most of them required the use of a flight stand. They often lacked stability and, as a result, were not the most fun to play with imo. But that's based on my experiences when younger when I mostly collected them, unboxed them, and then didn't do anything else with them lol. I've only learned to have fun with posing them up in the last couple years
I know people like to argue how much better the proportions on figures are from hasbro, but toybiz figures had stylization and pound for pound of the time, they had way more sculpt and paint and accessories for their price. Hasbro gives the bare minimum and the max price. Sign of the times. I love the few Toybiz ive gotten.
Dear Shartimus, absolutely love these Toy Biz retro reviews. When I first started watching your channel It Was all about Toy Biz Legends. Its my favourite line even above Hasbro Legends. I gotta say im a collector that Was very very inspired by you. Thank you very much. Saludos desde México.
I feel like figures have devolved. 20years ago, figures had almost double articulation than today. Back then, it was normal for toy biz figs to have toe joints and more, but right now, that’s new for marvel legends.
Man, I know newer collectors like to shit on the older sculpts and proportions, but damn did ToyBiz put love in their figures. Sure the ball jointed hips and the overall proportions are odd by today’s standards, but we sure do get some subpar sculpts from Legends these days. And those don’t come with that much paint, that much detail, and unique / large accessories that would still hold up today. ToyBiz put love into their figures all the time. Maybe it didn’t always translate well, but you know they always tried their best.
I think it might be that one that looks closer to a mcfarlane inspired design! I have had these sinister Six pack ones but I always had issues with the shin and wrist swivels becoming frozen and locked
Man those old bases have more detail than a new wave of legends lmao i dont have this figure but i would like to it looks crazy cool but i do have the S6 one which im super happy i got for 10 bucks,id say the mcfarlane spider from toy biz and AF from hasbro take the W
I got the Sinister Six Spidey recently for literally $20 at a comicon near me. I looked up his prices online and was baffled for how extremely low that price is.
Sure this figure has ball joints and big shoulders but the overall sculpting and musculature are beautiful. He looks heroic and the paint, articulation are outstanding as well. That Romita sr headsculpt is perfection too. Maybe hasbro can give us a comic Spiderman with ingraved web lines and better proportions in the future.
Of the five Toybiz Spideys compared I think this Snapshot version looks coolest just bc the lighter blue, we don’t see that too often with Spider Man in figure form
I like to think of Snapshot Spidey as John Romita Sr Spidey and Sinister Six Spidey as John Romita Jr Spidey. Although Snapshot Spidey looks like Alex Ross Spider-Man but with the Romita Sr colors to me aswell. 🤔
The retro is my definitive Hasbro spiey atm but the renew your vows one is a great upgrade from pizza spidey. Its like the ultimate pizza spidey figure whereas retro is a really good standard classic spidey figure.
Lean more towards action fig to be played with looks. Wonky but its spiderman u see some comics back then u get it Feel alittle odd its ultimate in the back Which i guess is ult spidey became face of merch in that period
To me this is definitely the best Spidey figure ever. Just take a qtip, nail polish remover and remove some of the excess of blach wash. Also this figure isn't as rare as people think, i got 4 this year and the more i paid was 10€, it just takes a some time to find.
@@treyvonwilliams it's a different style. What's really better on the Sinister Six Spidey is the neck joint ! It's not just a rotation like the Snapshot one, it has a hinge and it gives so much range !
If something could be done about the ugly weird looking shoulder/butterfly joints, this Spidey could be really good. The curvey top of thighs would work better with a female fig though I guess.
Russ, is it really true you're selling off all your action figures and exclusively collecting and reviewing Funko Pops? You've got some adamantium cojones, brother. But I'm down for the change!
Am I blind? I see multiple people saying how great figures like these are, but to my eye this looks terrible compared to a modern Hasbro figure. The paint is just way too heavy and dirty. And those proportions? Is anybody seeing this??? That’s not how human beings are built lol
The point is that back then every figure was hand sculpted and painted, and they were all incredibly posable and super detailed, both being things we dont see as often from hasbro, and there was basically no bad quality control back in the toybiz days, plus they do things hasbro still doesnt, toe joints and painted pins were a normal thing where as now it’s rarely seen, plus tons of unique accessories, and this was all for like $10 back then, now we have to pay around $25 for spiderman figures with dodgy paint and joint qc, no BaF pieces, and missing important accessories like full sets of hands, sure they may not look perfect, but for what they were they were an incredible deal

Come on Hasbro, toy biz is still knocking it out of the park with the painted joint pins
Toybiz at least still thoroughly paints their figures 💀
Tbf his thigh joints are red instead of blue

Miss the old toybiz bases man, back then they had more detail than most the recent marvel legends 😂
Yeah, but they also looked like disfigured aliens. Look at the atrocious proportions on this Spider-Man! You can’t justify that lol

There are a few reasons Toybiz doesnt exist anymore and unfortunately thats one of them.
11:23 the animated version is definitely my favorite spider-man figure, it has a lot of nostalgia.
Back in the toybiz days the only spideys I had were Tobey maguire movie spideys, sinister 6 spidey, and the sentinel series first appearance spidey

I found this guy years ago in a fleamarket and used it as my default Spidey for the longest time. Didn't know it was so sought after, haha!
One thing Toybiz has over Hasbro in spades: the absolute love they put into these figures.
For real indeed :) I am hoping to get my old toybiz figures back I once had, especially as an older collector now.
Rest In Peace Toybiz💔
This spidey figure is a classic dude John romita sr that looks like his art dude
I swapped the Macfarlane head sculpt onto my fearsome foes body with the brighter blue. And that was my go to Toybiz Spidey back in the day.
