You are right they are also ambush predator they mainly attack from behind and hit the neck or spine they are real smart and this guy was really smart maintaining eye contact
I wonder how many times a big cat has watched or followed me? 😂 I used to go on long hikes by myself in wilderness areas in Colorado all the time. I’ve never seen a lion, but I’m certain they’ve seen me. I’ve seen fresh tracks in the snow.
I have a 20 acre green run as my front yard in Colorado and we have 3 Bobcats out there, a large male, his mate, and their petite daughter. I see her mostly. She is curious. I had my phone camera out pointed at her last March, she was just sitting there on an upper terrace that bordered the property so pretty and calm, I looked down and there was a tiny bunny looking up at me with this look on it's face, like "don't give me away" and as it turned out, I wasn't video recording. Got so excited and failed to push the records button.
Beautiful cat, cute as well. That’s definitely a Tom cougar, considering how huge and healthy he looks. He must catch a lot of deer on a regular basis.
If you listen at 2:10, there's a lot of background noiise that sounds like vehicle traffic. It's nothing but a guess on my part, but it sounds like he wasn't that deep into the woods.
No Gun.....he probably never even had a frigging water bottle with him. I ain't no survival expert but WHY do people venture in the woods, without some sort of survival gear on em !! A lighter or matches, a Bowie Knife, or Combat Knife......list is Endless. Oh yeah & he just calmly narrating his own....possible death. Guy got nerves of Granite, i give him that. 💯👍
Bear spray, knife, and pistol are always on my hip when hiking alone in woods. Here in upper MI we have black bear, wolves, and a few big cats. Odds are that you likely will never need them for defense but it's great insurance. What if you fell and broke a leg, ankle, or a hip with no cell signal and no way of defending yourself? No way.
People going hiking don’t carry rifles. We carry back packs when hiking. Suggesting every mountain hiker should carry a rifle is ridiculous. Bear bells? Yes. Bear spray? Yes. It’s Canada we don’t think guns first. And we have a lot less dead people to show for it.
@@MK-cc5ve Bear spray does not always work. And what if you are attacked by a pack of wolves? Check the internet for the man who was killed by wolves in Ontario. Rifles are not that heavy. Better to carry a rifle than end up in the hospital, or dead.
Yes you do have nerves of steel.... but as your narrating how close he is you could of been DEAD!!! I have no idea how long it was from the first encounter to the next encounter..... but I would of been backing out of that area as fast as I could making myself look big and making a lot of noise.
Threatening gestures are very serious in the animal kingdom. Even the mightiest predators don't risk injury due to the fact their victim has already spotted them and is ready to fight when they are not yet in a superior position.
You sir have balls of steel there is no way I would have been recording and talkin calm like you in the other hand I would have not have my phone recording instead maybe sirens to spook him off
Definitely a beautiful kitty...he was definitely interested in the fella. More curious than anything else. The fella didn't look like anything on his menu so he wasn't quite sure. I would have at least picked up a large stick or something just in case.
It's only cool if it decides not to eat you. Notice it crouch into att*ack posture. Yikes! It wants to surprise you from behind. Go for the back of your neck. Make noise and look big to intimidate it (if you can)!!!
Tom!?! Who the eff is Tom? I only see a in its prime cougar! As for not having a sidearm or anything else.. lol @ you!! This cat was likely sick (rabies) or guarding some youngsters.. Otherwise, you wouldn't have seen it at all... They are scary elusive - until they aren't..
Beautiful cat!
He was so calm about it.
I would die trying to pet that thing
dont tell him you aint got no gun
LOL!! Right?
How are you so calm lol.
You have to be
He looked just as curious about you as you were of him. Those front legs are massive. What a hansom kitty.
It was really thinking trying to make you lunch. This is exactly what our cats do with birds in the yard.
It's like it's waiting for him to run
if you have a cat you know thats exactly what it was doing
or waiting for him to turn his back
You are right they are also ambush predator they mainly attack from behind and hit the neck or spine they are real smart and this guy was really smart maintaining eye contact
Wow such a ferocious animal, could have made meat loaf out of the dude, yet got scared! Awwww!! ❤️
LMFAOOO
What a lovely big cat
Balls of steel on this guy

100 Kg 😮😂
That was a monster Tom cougar. Looks very healthy too. Probably weighed well over 200 pounds.

everybody learns at their own pace. willing to bet money he didn't take a hike without some decent bear spray at the very least after this.
huge because hes eaten the missing men in his areas
No, just the children..
they wont eat man, an large human male would terrorize this thing, they are scared of humans especially big male, maybe not kids
why do people go in the woods with known animals without protection? At least carry an air horn are better Bear spray.
Bear spray,...and pray the wind is at your back,...otherwise Cougars gonna have a spicy meal
Same reason people feel safe walking the street not knowing who could be near what a grand and intoxicating innocence
Animals are just as scared of us. (Well, except moose and grizzlies.)

Thought I was listening to a sports announcer at a baseball game! Hilarious.
If they're so dangerous....why are they so cute and fluffy? Why are they friend shaped?
Yea, they are beautiful animals. Too bad they can rip you apart and eat you though
Other looking with curious, other looking with fear 😮
Unrestricted rifles are legal to carry in Cana, but not pistols. Where was his rifle? Hiking unarmed in animal territory is asking for trouble.

Was the voiceover added later? Also, how far away was the cougar really? 100 meters? 200?

No it wants you to run he did the only thing he could do , stand his ground
cat could've closed the distance on 15 meters in the blink of an eye
"I dont have a gun, I have nothing". Guess that's how evolution works. Survival of the smartest. What would u have done, if he was serious?

His face ❤
you need to leave !!!!!
Sounds like a real Canadian. Almost out of trailer park boys
Let's just see what he does lol
He' trained that lion from a cub
Not a lion bud

he's too cute.
Did it eat you ?
"let's just see what he does" don't do that
Was he a sleepwalker? 🤣
You need bear spray at least!
That was kind of foolish to go out in an area known for wild animals without a firearm or at least pepper spay.😮
Should carry pepper spray
He's stalking you dude!!!
Always carry a gun
Not allowed in Canada,..only harsh language

It's not worth the hassle in Canada. Just buy bear spray
