    That was handy - I did this myself yesterday as I had no idea if the previous owner had ever serviced the bike or not and it was coming up to the 3500 mile-mark anyway. The old stuff was a kind of bubbly black sludge. I used the spanner that comes in the bike's toolkit to undo the sump plug.

    There is other video about ys 125 oil change someone made such comment there
    Ans you forgot the bleed screw.. please check out the proper oil change procedure for this bike if you intend to continue servicing it yourself.
    Any idea what they meant

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      No idea. Oil change is exactly as manual says. Warm up. Dump oil. Sump plug back in. Fill up. Check level. No bleed screw that I am aware of. Nothing in the manual.

      @@jrewillis maybe its part that says to chęck oil pressure by unpluging something? Its too hard to tell IT in english for me anyway its in manual

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      You check the level on the dip stick. The check pressure is just making sure the oil light on the dashboard goes out within a few seconds of starting the engine once the oil change is complete. That's normal - if the light stays on you have low oil pressure (a leak)

    I read some of your comments i know you aren't mechanic and u dont have this bike anymore but im so flustrated and dont know where to seek for help. after an oil change i have tiny oil leak from the dipstick, after every ride i can see that place under dipstick is bit wet. it has started after oil change. is it possible there is too much oil? but i have put 1,1 l just like manual says when changing oil with oil filter too. i have replaced dipsticks o ring. should i replace dipstick too?

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you taken an oil reading off the dipstick with the engine cold - see how much oil you put in. Even if it's got too much oil in it shouldn't be leaking past the o ring. If you still can't fix it id take it to a mechanic. On all my bikes I've never had this issue.

    it might be stupid question but how can i get washer for the screw that keeps the oil? can i get it in any shop? i mean i dont want to get washer with wrong size

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get them off eBay. It is a copper washer designed to crush slightly to reseal. Don't just go to a hardware shop.
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402879813898?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jB7g0RZOSta&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY is an example of one. But lots available

      @@jrewillis sorry to brother you again but i went little mad.
      I put in 1l of yama lube 10 w 40 FS its bit expensive but when i use dipstick to chęck lvl at one side of dipstick its at between min max and at other one its at min i cant even chęck oil lvl propley :(
      Dipstick Has 2 sides at one side its at min and at second side of dipstick its beetwen min max. Which one should i trust i made sure im at flat ground.
      Now im worried if i dont have too low oil lvl.

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you checking it on the side stand or centre stand? Pretty sure bike should be upright to check it ensure you check it when engine is cold. So leave overnight before checking

    • @Wikulg
      @Wikulg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jrewillis manual is so confusing IT says to warm up engine then turn IT off and wait few minuts then chęck oil lvl

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wikulg yeah that'll be fine. Literally engine on. Warm up for 3 mins. Then turn off leave for 30-40 minutes then checkc

    Can you tell me whats ur oil lvl at completly cold engine and at hot but after sitting for 15 min?
    For me at cold its at max but
    At hot thats been sitting for a while its above min i wonder if its ok

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll be fine. Did you measure the oil you put in? I'm pretty sure it takes 1.1litre (excluding filter) so if you ever dump the oil again. Just measure 1.1 litres. Easy.

    Hey i replaced my oil for second time ever and oil filter for first time ever. after i loosened screw blood oil starts dripping from it is it supossed tod rip or flow out with big pressure? i did everything according to manual. i have recorded how ti looks on my channel as short you can check it out since youtube doesnt allow links

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking at your short the oil is dripping from an engine bolt? That isn't linked to the filter or oil drain bolt. Did you undo that bolt it's leaking from? If you it might not be fully done up.
      If everything is tight then it might be best to take it to a qualified mechanic. I didn't touch that bolt when I did my oil change I don't think.
      Sorry I can't be of more help. It's hard over the internet! Good luck 🤞🏻

    • @Wikulg
      @Wikulg ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jrewillisso you dont know if its supossed to behave like that ? Manual says oil is supossed to flow out from IT i was wondering if dripping out is ok

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's meant to drip out. (This is to show that oil has reached the top of the engine). But then you tighten it up again (with the engine off). Once you do that clean off any excess oil. When you run the engine it shouldn't drip any more. Don't over tighten the bolt. It only needs 7nm of torque.

    is it only me realize turned spanner to wrong direction. 😂😂😂

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha you are the first person to say! In fairness it was put on with no washer and was super tight so off camera I’d tried to remove it and assumed I’d gone the wrong direction so then tried the other when I recorded. Came off much easier after a new crush washer on next time.

    What are the oil change intervals?

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every 5000 miles (8000 km) or 12 months. Whichever comes first. 👍🏻

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Except for first oil change. Which is 600 miles in. Then every 5000 miles after.

      actually its every 6000 km in the manual not 8000@@jrewillis however theres group on fb some people there claim to change oil every 2000 km or 3000 km i wonder if its not money waste or interval should be smaller than 6000 km

    • @jrewillis
      @jrewillis  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah sorry I haven't got the bike any more so can't check the manual. Personally I prefer to change the oil more often on all my cars/bikes. It isn't massively expensive (especially on a 125) and it keeps the engine fresh.
