  • It seems almost every year we see a terrible NBA contract get signed. Teams may not ever learn.... but in my opninion here are the worst of the worst based on how things turned out. We even have a few of the rare occasions though where players got LESS money than they should've!

    It's ironic because if Steph doesn't have those injuries he probably gets a max contract which means GS probably don't have the cap space to sign the key free agents that put them over the top

    • @sh-cj1li
      @sh-cj1li 2 ปีที่แล้ว +69

      even funnier, those ankle injuries are what propelled him to work on his leg/ankle and core strength (essentially his lower body entirely) and that's what caused him to be able to shoot long-distance shots so effortlessly, so while he did indeed have a great shot already, the constant ankle injuries and the new trainer to help him work on this actually caused him to become the greatest and most effortless shooter ever.

    It’s funny because the injuries for curry ended up working out for both the team and himself as it allowed him to work on his lower body (allowed him to shoot deep better) and it freed up cap space for the warriors to sign KD

      Wrong! I literally watched Steph swishing 3pointers on the Raptors court at half time when he was 6!!! I personally saw it at least 15 times. Del Curry was a bench player for us for two years, and EVERY home game halftime Steph would shoot (and rarely miss) and Del would kick the ball back to him after each shot.

      Robbery yes but he wanted the contract because he didn’t trust his long term health at the time. Ended up mad at his situation that he created himself. It’s alright, he ended up getting a little overpaid at the end of his career but he wasn’t ever that good with money. So who knows, it probably wouldn’t have mattered what he made throughout those years. His incompetency wouldn’t have left him with more money in the end. He has lost my respect with that book taking low blows at people he should have spoken out to before man to man. Great player, best person…? That’s debatable.

    Yo why would they trade Shawn Kemp though???? They traded him after the 1997 (remember they made the finals in 1996) and the 1997 super Sonics were good since they had won 57 games in 97 and Shawn was averaging 18.7 which is what he always averaged and he was 27 years old so why would they trade him? They were just one solid piece from being finals contenders so why???

    • @Amm17ar
      @Amm17ar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They signed someone named Jim Mcllvaine to a larger contract than him, and because of the CBA that year they couldnt renogotiate his contract. He wasnt happy that someone was making more than him so he threatened to not play during the following year. He didnt show up to training camp that year but ended up playing the season and doing well but my guess is they werent willing to risk him doing that again, or renogiating or maybe some other drama. Just pulled it up on Wiki.

    That's the problem with smaller market teams, even if a player doesn't deserve a big or max deal, they still pretty much have to give it to them, especially if he was home grown. They jus don't attract enough free agents so they r forced to gamble on players like wall n arenas

    So the video and thumbnail are wrong unless you are one of those people who talks about seasons from the year they start in and not the year they end with. For example, when people talk about the 1995-1996 Bulls that went 72-10 they usually refer to them as the 96 Bulls not the 95 Bulls.

    2 obvious ommissions I fell from each side of the spectrum:
    Jon Koncak got a 13mil/6 years deal as a reserve player for the Hawks in 1989. That's 2.2mil/y for a player who averaged 3.7pts and 4.2 reb a game. to put it into perspective, here are some other contracts from that time:
    Jon: 2.2M
    Pippen: 765K
    Stockton: 1M
    Drexler: 1.1M
    Mailman: 1.8M
    Nique: 2.1M
    MJ: 2.5M
    Bird: 2.7M
    Barkley: 3M
    Speaking of Pippen, he's the other one, this time from the 'bad for the player' side. for 96/97 season, he was paid 2.25mil/y. he was the 6th best earner on that team, after Jordan (30.1mil), Rodman (9mil), Kukoc (3.97mil), Harper (3.84mil) and even Luc freaking Longley (2.79mil). he was earning closer to Randy Brown and Bill Wennington that Harper. the next year was the exact same thing. no wonder he grew salty and bolted to Houston to get paid.
