If the league minimum with 4 years service is $2.5 million. In 2005, it was $770k. That's more than tripling in 20 years. If a guy played 20 years at league minimum from 2025, to 2045, he's likely going to average more than $5mil/year for 20 years. It feels hard for me to feel like a guy was robbed if he earned $100 mil+ in a career. That's more than 3 times what Magic Johnson earned... I think many of us would feel the only bad contract is the one not signed.

Being an agent, they should always let the player's know the full scope(insurance, injuries, availability, bonuses, making all-star, D.F.P.Y., MVP, playoffs, Finals, Champion/ship, lockouts, etc.,etc.)of any and all contracts. The catcher would be letting them know of the possible risks of getting hurt and(the $ they stand to lose vs the $ they stand to gain). Finally as an encore I would definitely use these clips as past examples of those who never covered their bases!!!

What's worse for some of these guys, especially a star like Cousins, is that even if you sign the deal, you can always make a stink & get yourself traded later on if you want out.
The reality is that for most of these guys, the back end of those deals is going to be bad anyway; the team is paying for what a guy can give them in the next 1-2 years. And now you are probably going to see the reverse, where these guys, especially SuperMax eligible players, take the money & the teams are regretting it towards the end of the deal.
I know he's been a punching bag all season, but this is why Russell Westbrook keeps getting moved. It's not that he's "bad"; it's that he can't raise the floor or ceiling of your team enough to justify that salary. So as soon as someone comes along that's willing to take it, he's moved again. Now that deal is expiring and might look a bit more attractive to the right team.
