@@insertgenericnamehere5322 no its a friendly way i guess if its higher you'll say senpai (upperclassman) or you'll add san- like doremi-san i guess amemiya says Kun because those two are friends

You can definitely see the different playing styles here. Doremy likes to build it up to get more combos whilst amemiya Likes to get rid of lines as quickly as possible at the start and builds it up a bit then gets rid of them again, and start getting rid of lines quickly again, kind of like a loop.
also kind of a symptom of the different number of badges, doremy had the freedom to keep building setups for t-spins but amemiya had no choice but to constantly clear garbage and do a 4 wide
the -kun part is an honorific that Japanese people use and the “hoi hoi hoi” he says is an expression for him, kind of like a phrase you say when you encounter something interesting.
Adrianne Gale Servillon Well yes, but -kun is used as a diminutive for younger siblings or as an affectionate honorific. Why would Amemiya use it for a rival, I’m wondering.
this is the first video ive watched regarding ameniya battling doremy but what i can kinda tell is that both of them know each other maybe not to the point theyre friends but yeah just know some about each other. -kun is a honorific for yes a lowerclassman or affectionate but since they know each other that passes the -san range its more reasonable to use doremy-kun. sorry i dont have much vocab lol
Amemiya says "The person on the middle-left area (approximately) is setting up the pieces pretty quick, I'm guessing it might be Doremy-kun". It wasn't 100% clear to him And at the end when Doremy takes the 3rd position KO he says he feels it's probably because it's Doremy

@@FunZies. so I rewatched those parts a couple times. My guess is Doremy took a quick glance at the next section containing two O's that were quickly put over the existing well. Amemiya was low enough on the board to just start building new tetrises on top of the stack.

Think more horizontally, at 1:03 the board is accommodating to the kind of "sideways stack" (that's how I like to approach a misdrop) that Doremy did not necessarily to "plug up the hole" per se, but more like they were simply removing the obstacles in the way of the holes so that they could get to them.

What is Amemiya doing better to win with disadvantage? Is he placing pieces faster? Is 4w just a better strat (if he is actually using it more than doremy)? I can't see a significant difference between their play that would allow such a victory, but I definitely don't have a good eye for it (I'm pretty much a total noob in Tetris)

Mostly (at first) it's learning finesse. Memorizing and practicing the most efficient movement for every possible placement for each piece type is a lot of work. Then you practice setups so you can learn to see without looking. Slowly you learn to assess the field less and less. Eventually you don't think even think about pieces, only the strategy of their placement. It's a long road.
Learn how the pieces rotate, sometimes they move, for example if you you move an I-piece all the way to the right to where it hits the wall while it is horizontal, then let go of the directional input and then rotate counterclockwise, the expected landing area will be the third column from the left, whereas if you did clockwise it would be 2 from the left and if you kept holding right after pressing the button you get all the way to last column.
