I collected mine last week.....I'm absolutely loving it. The 'slate' dial with those ice blue hands are memorising 'White Walker'''! Cool name! It's my second Rolex.
I collected mine last week.....I'm absolutely loving it. The 'slate' dial with the ice blue secondhand is mesmerizing. 'White Walker'''! Cool name! It's my second Rolex.
I find the 40mm Yacht Master's sleek case proportions and low profile to be very similar to the Daytona on the wrist. I am the proud owner of the Blue and the Dark Rhodium dial versions (116622) and absolutely love them both equally, but for different reasons. The blue has a more fun and casual look and also looks great on a rubber strap whilst the stunning Dark Rhodium is a bit more 'dressy' and more suited to formal occasions in my opinion. The Yacht Master 40 really is in a class of it's own and I don't think it will be a 'sleeper' for very much longer.
You are right, the body of the YM is similar to the Daytona, my observation exactly, and this is the key, it slides right under the shirt cuff like it is made to do it.
Picked up my brand new YM40 ‘white walker’ from my AD yesterday. Waited roughly 16 months for it. I’m absolutely thrilled it with it. Such a beautiful & underrated Rolex.
I thought the same when I collected mine last week.....I'm absolutely loving it. The 'slate' dial with those ice blue hands are memorising 'White Walker'''! Cool name! It's my second Rolex.
I am on the list (for about 6 months now) at my local AD for this - I periodically stop in and bug them to remind them that yes, I still want it, and that I am still alive. Some day!
Hi Damien this watch wears better than a submariner the lungs are sleek and it is well underrated than the other sports watches.. prices are going up which makes it a great wearer and an investment, the Rodium dial gives different shades .. great content keep it up!!
I always thought that this color combination was only available in 37mm(which I was half way to going for). I'm glad the 40 exists. I do prefer it to the blue dial. Thank you for this useful information.
I just received this watch from my AD in June. My first Rolex. I feel as though I've made a good choice. II've never heard of it referred to as the 'White Walker' But I like it :)) And the OP Rhodium? I would buy that in a heart beat! No cyclops eye to interrupt the beauty of that unique dial.
Noticed Dario was rocking the 16570 explorer II at Goodwood last weekend in the GM T50- such a subtle GMT. With reasonably small numbers and a nice 39mm, this could be a nice do everything bash about?
I'm 19cm wrist and when I tried on this 40mm yacht master in the AD, they said they could get me one but I just felt it looked too small on me. I don't know if it's just because I'm used to looking down at 46mm Breitlings day to day. What do you think? I think this watch wears small.
Ended up grabbing the rhodium 40 - wasn't particularly that interested in it, but wow, now I have it- I love it. Absolutely gem. The prices are also going bonkers...
I purchased and returned a rhodium dial datejust from an AD after just 2 days. The reason was I found it very difficult to actually read time at a glance. Although partly due to old man eyes I guess but I swapped for the Omega Aqua Terra and couldn't be happier. The Rhodium does however photo very well on vids like this and has me still wanting a YM !! Sometimes it's just so hard to know ones own mind
Hello Damien. I just love this watch, I've had my name down for one with my local AD for over 18 months now. I first came across the watch while watching a video on it by another very popular TH-cam channel. It's very elegant in my opinion. Keep up the good work, your videos are very informative. 👍 cheers.
High on the wanting list!! Learned something news again ... White walker, good name for it!! Nice to mentione another difference,126622 also featured a Rolex crown between Swiss and Made where the 116622 doesn't
I own both the rhodium and blue dial versions. Great underrated watches for $12,300, I agree! I must confess I never laughed so hard as I did watching this video. Excellent work!!! Yacht-Master II truly is the red-haired step child of the family…
It’s now one of the most demanded one and AD are closing all the waiting list for them. IF ONLY I KNEW IT, I would flip it against my Pepsi all day… it’s way more elegant and I like it way more…. But of course those Rhodium YM are going high value on grey market. Dudes just know it’s a rare one…
Great review! Wonder if an oysterflex bracelet would be a nice change up from the steel bracelet on this rhodium dial version? (Also hoping they come out with a steel version of the white gold YM to be more affordable!)
@@TheWatchGuysTV thanks that clears that up! I’m picking up a black baton dial datejust 36 oyster bracelet on Thursday, going to put my name down for the WHITE WALKER. Always over looked it but saw one in the wild at the weekend and it’s lovely, much different to my other ceramic bezel sports rolexs.
The White Walker! I like the name, and love the piece. Simply beautiful. It's getting increasing TH-cam coverage as one of the most underrated SS Rolex watches, so it is much harder to get it from retail these days.

Love your channel and great content. I have the 44mm Yacht Master II in steel and it's still one of my favourites despite it's hated by many. Guess that's beauty of this hobby that I don't have to like whatever others like and vice versa.
I own the previous model Platinum dial Rolex with the red second-hand. My idea at the time was to replace my first Rolex, a 90's model black Submariner date, which, I did eventually sell because I noted that every man seems to buy one of these as his first Rolex. The Platinum version is rather blingy and dressy. Of course, the slate dial and the blue dial versions were not on the market at the time I bought mine. The watch is like having a Daytona case, which lays flat, but with the movement of a Submariner.
I had the YM40 blue 116622 but found too big/uncomfortable to my preference. I’d likely have went for a YM37 if it wasn’t a 17mm lug width. Edit: great review!
7:37 “it’s not entirely clear who the owner of the yacht master is.” I’d bet that well under 1% of people who own submariners spend any time below the surface of the ocean. Beaches don’t count. Only a tiny percentage of people who buy these watches use them for their “intended” purpose.
Most Rolex watches are of the nautical theme. This is why and how most Rolex's are waterproof as Francis Chichester's DATE (entry-level) model and the one that the woman wore swimming across the French Channel about thirty years before. What do you think Oyster refers to as Chronometer is certified to aid in a mariner navigating to any place on earth. FYI - the dial's colour is considered to be the slate colour - you like it because grey goes with everything. My first Rolex similar to Chichester's Oyster Date had a slate until a Rolex certified service got glue on the bezel. Rolex immediately replaced it with a beautiful enameled White Roman dial for free - that was forty-years ago and the "entry-level" watch still keeps -0.625 seconds per day.
I bought the Rose Gold - Chocolate Face for her 50th in June. I have to say, it looks Class. I like the one You’re Reviewing Mr. B. A lot. I fell asleep on the YM 40, but fortunately for me I woke up a few days ago and bought the blue dial from an AD and absolutely love it! 💙💙💙
I definitely like those versions of the YM. Problem is I like both the grey dial and blue. Can't get both...
